Big North Conference

I'm doing a project where I'm trying to figure out what the Division 1 conferences might look like if the NCAA started enforcing rules such as "no more than 10 teams to a league," etc. Anyway, this league would be for the the non-football members of the Big East who in my scenario would break off and form their own conference.

I was looking for a way to work a way to emphasize the "north" and came up with the compass/star. I'm also not sold on the name "Big North," but the only other name I could think of was "Northern Sky," but the more I say it, the more it sounds like an airline. Anyway, y'all know what to do...

This is something I got from an article I read some time ago, but how about the "Private Party".

All the Big East basketball schools are Catholic run, right? How about the "Holy League". ^_^

Edit-just saw the "North" thing. Maybe "Northern Conference"

Most of my thoughts have been echoed in previous posts, maybe look into changing the colors, italicize compass/star... Lookin' good though, illwauk, I hope you do some other ficticious leagues.

As far as the lack of color... I would imagine the color being changed to suit the needs of each particular team (it was on a Georgetown program, for example, it would be navy & grey). But I probably should choose a "default" color, regardless.

And since this was received so well, I'll probably take a crack at some of the other conferences created by this hypothetical shake up.

Big Sun Conference

Desert Southwest Conference

Gulf Coast Conference

Great Midwest Conference (I know this was a real league for a few years, but I liked the name so I brought it back)

Pan-Atlantic Conference

Nothing in the logo says "North" to me. You have big pointed serifs going left and right, which to me would signify east and west. Add the compass star, and it's somewhat confusing. You shoulddo something to emphasize "North", even if it's one single arrow shape pointing upwards. Why not connect the right stem of the N to the I, and make it one big arrow?

One you really emphasize the symbol of "North", then you can go in an add little flourishes or serifs to make it less ordinary looking.
