New Marlins Stadium Use of Color

Concessions stands are already taking shape ? complete with the bright-colored tile that is part of the ballpark?s signature style. There will be four color quadrants ? blue, yellow, red and green ? borrowed from Spanish painter Joan Miro?s palette that will easily help fans identify where they are in the ballpark. Already, blue tile has gone up in concession areas.

The sales center is decorated in a lot of white with a mixture of these colors and a lot of modern furniture (think IKEA). Everything in the mock-up suite was white. It looks like they hired the same people who design Macs and iPods for the furniture.

Yeah, those colours are going to look tacky even by Miami standards... they should have just gone with something that suited the team.

And all of the use of color/splash/Feng shui looks nice when new, but mean little as the Heat signed LeBron and the area's interest will still be not on the Marlins until Flag Day (June 14 and generally 60 games into the MLB season). Pobre El Estadio de Calle Ocho! Pobre Ciudad de Miami.

i'm cool with them being the ole Miami Hurricanes of baseball.

Green / White/ Dark Orange (as oppposed to marmalade orange or whatever...Flyers bright orange) would be excellent and different. We have black and orange....and green and yellow. This would be a welcome change. Teal and black...it's fine, but once they dumped the all-teal hat, the unis didn't do much for me...

I miss the teal hat, that was a better look for them.

I for one think teal was a nice trend that got over used in sports, but for a team with an aquatic name like the Marlins it was perfect.

If they made a nouveau-traditional stadium you guys would bitch about it looking too much like Camden/Jacobs/whatever.

If they add on new ideas, you bitch that it't not traditional enough.'

There's no winning on this site. I say they hold a seance to contact the spirit of Mary Blair to come in and add some It's a Small World like whimsy to the place as a whole. If they're gonna go art deco with it, they might as well go all the way.

Since it is (somewhat) on topic, I emailed the Marlins concerning their new color scheme a couple of weeks ago, and this was their response, unchanged:

Thank you for your comments. We truly appreciate you taking the time to write to us. Per owners we will not be using out original teal color. The current uniform reflect the direction that we will be taking when in relates to our uniforms colors.

I'm beginning to think that they will still be a primarily black team, with silver and orange trim, but then again, I can't quite decipher the end of that second sentence.

I was just about to make a new topic about this and I see it's the most recently updated topic. Amazing how design minds think alike.

These are from the Marlins website, also using the rainbow spectrum of colors:
