I don't know if anybody has mentioned this (admittedly, I haven't gone back and re-read ever post in the thread), so forgive me if this was already discussed. But I noticed on the MLB shop site that the Angels will be wearing a patch on their hat this year commemorating their 50th anniversary. I hadn't seen or heard anything regarding this at all this offseason, but what surprised me more was that the Halo above the "A" on the front of the cap is now gold instead of silver. Can anyone verify that this is an official game cap that they will wear all season, or is it more of a commemorative type hat to be worn on opening day or something (much like in the recent past World Series winning teams have worn the gold outlined jerseys on opening day and such)?

Also, can anyone tell me what, if any, other teams are wearing patches on their caps this year? I thought there was another one, but I can't seem to recall off the top of my head who it is, or what the patch is for.

I like the Tigers and Orioles orange ones.

Wish they went a little crazy with the BP jerseys. Usually just a simpler version of a regular jersey with some different stripes/design. It would be cool if they had something totally different.

I know some teams do, but oh well.

Well this isn't what I expected. After actually seeing the cap I have completely changed my mind about how I feel about the gold. Instead of giving it more pop like I thought it would, it just makes the whole thing look completely washed out. The silver halo is MUCH better.

And why is the halo in the logo on the patch silver? It looks really inconsistant.

I don't like the Mariners. I think teal should be the secondary color here.

100% agree. Enough with the grey. We have enough of it every day in the sky, don't need it on the unis too.

In winter, sure. Summers out here are phenomenal.

I couldn't disagree more. The gold looks amazing. It's ties back to team history as well (true, a history with no WS titles).

And I don't know about you, but I think of gold halos when I imagine something with a halo over it. They should keep the hat halo gold from now one.

i agree with o.c.d. i like the gold. i think it's a huge improvement.

and yes, to confirm for the post above. the angels announced this change to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the franchise during last season. the gold halo also extends to the jerseys.

Good. That blue jersey looked dumb with their red caps and red socks / shoes.

I guess baseball jersey design has officially passed me by. I never saw the need for the side panels, these underarm colors are no better, and the collars/patches over the nameplates look as ridiculous to me as the earflaps on the last generation of BP caps.

All that said, I don't mind if teams take risks with their BP jerseys. I just dislike these pointless splotches everywhere. Maybe people felt that way when stripes first appeared on jerseys.
