  1. I know the Mets were against this; not sure about NY (AL), but I'm pretty sure they were against too. There was also a less radical plan presented that would've kept the Mets and Cubs in the NL and the White Sox and NY (AL) in the American League, but that failed too. Teams can't be forced to switch leagues without their permission so thankfully neither plan ever happened.
  2. I miss the Bakersfield Blaze.
  3. Love Orbit.
  4. In their 142nd season, the Boston/Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves' all-time record is currently 10,462-10,462.
  5. They can't do anything until the next round of PDC musical chairs, which will happen in September 2018.
  6. No.
  7. Soccer. I used to just dislike it, but now I actively hate it. I think it's boring as hell to watch, but people say the same thing about baseball, which I love. To each his own. But it's the stuff around the game that enrages me now. We're not in Europe, it's a game, not a match. American grammar rules should still apply; it's New York leads Chicago, not New York lead Chicago. Home teams should be listed second. And those MLS team names are awful. Half of them have American style names, half of them have European style names. Pick one style or the other, it drives my OCD crazy! You can't have the New York Red Bulls in the same league with a team called New York FC or whatever letters they picked out of their alphabet soup. I also hate car racing, but I don't consider driving a car to be a sport.
  8. The Rangers aren't allowed to give up a home game without risking the Garden's tax exempt status. So the league screws Buffalo by making them give up a home game and flips the bird to the Isles by having a Winter Classic on Long Island (and across the street from their possible future home!) and not inviting them. How can the NHL expect the Barclays people to respect the Islanders when the league pisses on them?
  9. What does GG mean? I've seen it a bunch of times in this thread and nowhere else.
  10. Does Canada have a Better Business Bureau? Maybe they can help you out.
  11. Was led to believe that I would be getting a promotion, but my really good friend got it instead. So now I'm upset that I didn't get the job and even more upset that I'm upset, if that makes sense. I should be really thrilled for him--and if my supervisor never suggested that I would be getting it, I would be. He probably deserves it as much as I do, and like I said, he's become one of my best friends. But when he was going through training at the office tonight, I kept thinking that it should be me (or even both of us, since we had two managers leave recently but they're apparently only adding one). And I feel like crap for thinking that. I want to know what happened, but I'm not going to say anything; I don't want to risk hurting my buddy's feelings if he finds out I'm disappointed I didn't get his gig. I value his friendship more than the job. But if there was any chance at all that I wasn't going to get the promotion, my boss should've either said so or kept his mouth shut and not gotten me excited about it. Guess I won't be able to quit any of the 3 jobs I'm currently working at any time soon.
  12. The (minor) chatacter Frank Thomas played in Mr. Baseball, the Tom Selleck playing baseball in Japan movie.
  13. That's horrible news. Loved that guy when he played here.
  14. I can understand Richards' reluctance to go under the knife for Tommy John. The rehab is very long--what, 18 months minimum?--and the results aren't guaranteed. (And what's the line about minor surgery? It's only minor when it's happening to someone else, or something like that?) Richards had the stem cell dealie less than a year ago and he was back on a big league mound tonight. And initial reports are that he left with a biceps cramp, not an elbow injury, so no need to hit the panic button just yet.
  15. It was a news crew. You can kind of see the microphone and mic flag in the corner.
