NBA 2017-18: A Tale of Two Conferences

Congrats to Chris Paul on reaching his first Western Conference Finals!

It's wonderful that NY fans are booing the MVP that their team gave up nothing for after 1 week. Hopefully he'll strike out 4 times every game and sink the Yankees to last place where they belong.

No they didn't. There was no Process. They were just a bad team with a bad owner.
  5. There are some good looking series here. Kings vs. Knights will be great, and I wonder if Kings fans will flood the arena in Vegas. And of course the BoC tradition continues with Ducks and Sharks. The Wild are screwed this year, but maybe the Jets will be able to stop the almighty Predators from cruising to the WCF. While it's sad that Very Important teams like the Blackhawks and Sabres won't be participating in these playoffs, I think we'll get an entertaining first round.

Don't worry, they get six more games against the poopy Giants this month. Lots of shutout opportunities.

Fitting behavior for a guy who still hasn't won a championship. He'll be bitter and insecure his whole life unless he reevaluates himself.

Is Derek Jeter buying a team he has no business owning, then gutting the team, and capping it off by gifting their franchise player to the Yankees the most despicable non-criminal story in sports? I think it is.

Randypuck comes through with one of the greatest overtime strategies ever. And Oilers fans were encouraging the Ducks the whole time! https://streamable.com/gpofn

Bumgarner's hand is broken, and the Giants are probably done before the season even starts. Welp, it was a fun spring training, at least!

Football is just as slow and dull as baseball is. There's a ton of downtime, constant penalties that nobody understands, and a replay system that's just as laborious. There's really not much difference between waiting 40 seconds for the next snap, or 20 seconds for the next pitch, and a handoff for a two yard gain is just about as exciting as a groundout to second. People just don't notice because football Sundays feel like events and you can flip between multiple games. Combine that with a 16 game schedule compared to 162, fantasy teams, and gambling. Basically hockey and soccer and the only sports that can actually deliver consistent action without constant stoppages, and of course they're the two least popular sports. We can pontificate about how today's society needs everything to be fast, but is that really what we want in sports?

    Logos associated with failure.

They lasted over 70 years and have been one of the most recognizable retailers on the planet. I wouldn't call that an association with failure.

Just increase the number of outs in extra innings to 4! It gives the offense an extra chance to score without inventing phantom runners or errors that never happened.

I really hope Houston makes it. Chris Paul is tired of losing and Harden is playing light years ahead of everyone else. I don't know if They The North are capable of not losing to Lebron, but we'll see.

It didn't take long for Pistons fans to turn on Blake Griffin. Stan van Gundy's going to get fired and the whole situation is in disarray. Kinda feel bad for everyone there.

And all of a sudden there's renewed interest in Bryant's rape case. I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot more about it in the coming weeks.

I have to say I'm impressed with what the Giants have done this offseason. I was skeptical that it'd even be worth salvaging the roster after their pitiful season last year, but after a winter where nearly a third of the teams in the sport basically announced that they have no intention of trying to win, I can appreciate a team going all out. Andrew McCutchen is someone to be excited about, Matt Moore is gone, and Longoria should be a decent backup for Pablo. Bobby Evans is proving himself worthy.

We needed two additional Western teams to balance out the conferences.

This "same ol Clippers" line that casuals like to repeat is very entertaining. In what universe did the old Clippers ever have a superstar max player to trade in the first place? The best part is that this is clearly a Jerry West move. Make a shocking trade of a fan favorite player out of nowhere to trigger a rebuild. Sounds just like what he did with Monta Ellis back in Golden State! And when that trade happened the entire fanbase booed the owner out of his own building and completely ripped the trade, but it led to the team GS has now. Of course your average Warriors bandwagoner can't remember that far back, and the fans who booed like to pretend it didn't happen. I don't know how this Blake deal will turn out, but clearly West has something bigger in mind.
