About facegab

  1. I was lucky to get my Rays on field tapered fauxback cap through a connection at the team. It was one of the left over first batch for the players. $45 but USA made. probably the rarest in my collection. Those Chinese caps are TERRIBLE!
  2. These just make me laugh because in the post game interview they portray the "Hey everybody I just gave up a 4 run lead in the ninth and yeah I don't have a shirt on but I'm just a cool relaxed sorta guy, who's just sittin' here talkin to you dudes. No biggie." New Era meets American Eagle
  3. As a one-time fauxback, it's alright. Any more than that, then no. It plays into the culture Maddon has built there. He's keeps it loose, they try to be creative on road trips, etc. It's harmless as a one-time thing. If anyone else tried it, it might be perceived as more of a bad thing. I would definitely say it would be stupid if the Rockies or D-Backs did this, but it fits the Rays' persona. This hits the nail on the head. The Rays have no real history, play in the worst stadium in the league, and no one goes to the games, give them a break for trying something fun. The Rays have become the anti-Yankees. Alot like the A's were in the 70's with the white shoes and mustaches. Now that would be awesome! Evan Longoria with a Rollie Fingers stache.
  4. You could be right. As I said, I have no first-hand knowledge of New York. But considering how big the boroughs are and "Brooklyn would be the third biggest city in America", I could see those "big city" fans in other boroughs feeling left out and not wanting to root for a team that wasn't theirs. You'd think so, but no. Having lived in Queens long enough I can tell you that, with the possible exception of the Bronx (and I'm not sure I'm even willing to stipulate that), there's a camraderie among the "not Manhattan" parts of the city. And Manhattan is so in love with Brooklyn that there are almost as many Brooklyn Industries stores in the 212 than there are in Brooklyn itself. I've lived in this city most of my life, and the parts I didn't were largely spent desperately trying to get back here. I just don't see this whole "writing off parts of the city" thing at all. No offense but having been born and raised in Queens I disagree on the "camraderie" idea. there are 5 boroughs and you have to pick which one you're from. There isn't an us vs manhattan thing. Queens hates Brooklyn, Brooklyn hates queens and we all hate Staen Island.
  5. Thanks to everyone for watching the latest video. Next month I'll do one from the road. Once a year i make the trip up to Cooperstown and Mickey's Place, the mecca of hats. I'm going to film an episode from there.
  6. Hey Everybody, new video is up! This month we're going to Miami...sort of. I had to change my youtube channel so re-subscribe if you had subscribed to the old one. Enjoy!! new video Channel www.youtube.com/user/hatwalldan
  7. Let's petition the Cubs to change their name too if winning (or lack thereof) is the rationale. Actually, I agree with the sentiment here. Whether or not Cleveland has won with that logo is not relevant. And you don't want that criteria used for whether or not the Redskins should change their name, because they've had a winning history with that name. The point in bringing up the Indians' lack of winning isn't to imply that some World Series hardware would justify keeping it, its just to point out how futile the "tradition" argument is. Thank you for explaining my point better than I did. Tradition is not born through length of time alone. It has to have some sort of success to it. Their old stadium was called the mistake by the lake, they made a movie with them as the team that stinks ( good movie though)and half the country thinks that their name/logo is racist. Maybe it's time to lose all that "tradition" and start over.
  8. Whether you care about the racism or not, you would think that you would want to drop the 97 year association with Indians anyway because it's generally an association with losing. Great, wear the name with pride even though it is attached to only 2 world Series titles and 5 pennants in over 90 years and no trophy since 1948. Maybe go back to Spiders and just start over.
  9. I dn't know if they are U.S made or not until i get them. It wasn't a problem until about 6 months ago. Now there's alot of Chinese made out there. if they are Chinese, they get returned or onto Ebay. I only collect on-field caps and some of the older ones like from the 40's are obviously not vintage. No Bp, no fashion caps, only authentic on-field.
  10. Thank you everyone for taking a look. Hopefully I'll do another episode in a month or so. To answer some questions, of all 237 I've probably only paid over $30 for 37. Ebay, Amazon, Clearance, for all the rest. maybe $17 each. About the three Yankee pinstripes, it's probably hard to see in the video but they are all different. They are designs from the teens. One has Navy stripes, one Navy and red stripes, and one navy stripes with a red logo. Hopefully I'll get a facebook page together for this project soon.
  11. Sorry about that. I ran into a copyright rejection thing. I'm pretty sure it's fixed now and it should be worth a look. Thanks for your patience. We will now resume our regularly scheduled broadcast. (I Hope)
  12. Hey everybody take a look at this. I started a video project called Welcome to the Hat Wall I have over 200 hats and it's a hat blog/video/who knows what I'm doing. It's part unboxing, part hat diary. Take a look and let me know what you think. If the reviews are good I'll do some more. www.youtube.com/user/thehatwall

  14. heres my two cents. Phillies should keep current cap for home and do the same cap but burgundy instead on the road. Nothing too crazy but a great nod to the past for the maroon lovers
