  1. I can say from browsing some Houston sports forums, the horns on helmet is a close top mention behind luv ya blue and Oilers name return. I agree the logo is too good to not use, though i admit the logo looks best with white background imo, but i don't want white helmets. (more on that below) I could live with horns if it is tastefully done. I don't even like the Eagles wings on their helmet. I think it's cartoony and tacky and outdated. I want them to go back to the kelly green with the silver wings with white outline which looks more professional to me vs the graphic wings with the bold outline and shading. Even the white helmet with kelly green wings. I do like the Rams horns of course. I've seen some Titans concepts with the the flames of their logo large on the helmet from front to rear which looked good, but most Texans horn concepts haven't caught my eye. I believe you would have to redesign the logo entirely for horns that lend themselves to that use on a football helmet. As they are, they don't work. As for the new Texans direction, I'm mostly on board with a red helmet given we stick with deep steel blue for primary and just find a way to use the columbia blue for alternates? New color rush rule, or maybe they make an exception? Not sure how it works, but some say it's not allowed and yet ownership is really pushing it. (For those who hate the 'H-Town' nickname, both Cal and his wife Hannah are non stop saying "H-Town" and throwing up the 'H' with their hands. They're really pushing for a more youth/street/urban connection with the team which might give an indication of what they want in the uniforms. I think they missed the memo that the youth just wants BFBS. ) My issue with the Battle Red helmet is the use of metallic red and not enough color separation. One way i've seen that helps a red helmet uses a color redesign of the logo. It still makes sense to the Texas flag, but i think really works with the red helmet and a solid deep steel blue center stripe like this logo concept done by Kyle Waters https://www.behance.net/gallery/104224679/NFL-ALTERNATE-HELMETS Not sure about the red facemask, though. I think the logo looks really good done this way.
  2. That's my belief of what will happen. New primary uniforms with the original logo and colors and new home/away alternates with a differently named luv ya blue and a brighter red and the H logo or the H-Town script on the helmet. The latter i would despise. The H logo on it's own, i approve.
  3. They can't release any info on the uniform changes or rather i think they won't until closer to release next off season. They made all media members who saw sneek peeks not disclose any details. I did hope, however, that if this is a one off season before major changes, they use battle red helmets all season. Hopefully that's a sign that they are on the same page.
  4. That shade of blue is really hard for me to differentiate, but that red is very vibrant. I love that red.
  5. It's happening. I'm 99% certain at this point. If at least only for an alternate set, but it's going to show up. The owners wouldn't have spoken about it specifically and they're pushing merch with the colors pretty hard. JJ Watt who always wanted to wear the throwback Oilers, is wearing the new H-TOWN merch with columbia blue pants and Chicago flag beanie in an Instagram post today. I bet he still has connections and knows what's coming.
  6. I don't know why i can't like/react to posts There's a fine line between pro and college/hs/amateur and i'm not sure that Express design seems very NFL(though Nike seems to want to look like college designs these days). I also wrote in about Texans should be rough and rugged and probably more traditional. The logo while i love it, doesn't allow for a traditional design. The battle red looked terrible with the current red jerseys live. I didn't like how the different shades of red collided. I do love the red helmet as a standalone and feel it does pop with a primary blue top. While i like your design, other than not being a fan of tv numbers, i feel it's the same problem with the current uniforms in that it's too much of one color. I just happen to like helmets being a different color from home jerseys, other than white helmet with white top which is clean. Your design would improve drastically to me with a white helmet because of my interest in the different color helmet and top. As a concept route, it's still playing up the name which is of course the problem in itself. We'll never be Texas's team even while being named Texans and having the state flag all over our uniforms in the NFL and even behind the prestige of some of the big classic Texas universities. As much as i think they got the logo and wordmark right, i would.. hesitantly move away from it to do a Houston centric theme. Short of a rebrand to space theme, it's the smartest move to get the city hype about their team and move away from the Clippers feel of the current brand. I would seriously rather be called the Houston Football Team at this point over the Texans. Even the Clippers brand moved up some by going urban LA centric vs the Hollywood Lakers little brother.
  7. Life long Houstonian and that's one of the things i wrote in about- i'd rather us be Houston centric than a 2nd/wannabe Texas team pretending we could ever surpass the Cowboys. It's the Clippers in the Lakers shadow on a statewide scale. I welcome H-Town branding and the H logo, but i can see where other's wouldn't. The H admittedly looks more like a classic Baseball logo than a football teams logo, but i like it. Luv ya blue/white with or without red looks clean and the simplicity of the H logo works with the colors(i also really like the blue and white). I'm good with red helmets with simple clean (not as dark as steel blue) blue jerseys with bold white numbers like the practice squad. Red for the Texans chest wordmark and red swoosh. Tweeks to add sharp details like the logo. White pants, bold blue side stripe coming to sharp point like the stripe through the logo. I think RWB looks striking. RWB with white or red as primary pops. Blue as primary like Team US Dream Team/Redeem Team Aways and it looks dull. Even Michael Jordan couldn't make blue primary with red and white look cool. Blue/Red without a third color looks better. Plus side: Red helmets stand out outside of KC. May look like an opposite Giants but i, along with most fans here are bored and tired of the deep steel blue dominance.
  8. A photo was attached to the news channels tweet, but i added those myself to see if there's an issue with the color rights and if slight differences means the color CAN be used? I'm just unsure of what exactly the Texans could do that's similar to the Oilers aesthetic - legally speaking. The apparel being shown color matches closer to the 90s patrol car(that 3rd photo) which is the same used in the tweet.
  9. Doesn't the Addams family have the rights to the Oilers blue color or just the name "Luv Ya Blue?" Just the logo and history? Hannah McNair compared the blue to the classic Houston Police Department patrol cars color and said it was around longer than the Oilers and it's really more of an "H-Town Blue." I wonder if they can just bring back the colors and change the names of the colors? "'Luv Ya Blue' is part of the Houston culture, so we recognize that," Cal McNair told Adam Winkler and Bob Slovak during an interview. "We are looking at our uniforms for the first time in 20 years, and we'll try to take it all in and enjoy the fan feedback." "I would call it more 'H-town Blue,'" Hannah McNair added. "It's been around Houston a lot longer than the Oilers, so I would call it 'H-town blue.' If you recall, those HPD cars used to be pretty blue." https://abc13.com/houston-texans-new-logo-rebranding-luv-ya-blue-oilers-throwback-jersey/12739366/ HPD had to special order that color then either the photo coloring is off or the color changed over time
  10. Wake me up when the Rockets aren't the worst looking team in the NBA.
  11. Not a sports logo, but can you update the hobbit Klipsch La Scala shirt logo? FRONT BACK Thanks!
  12. These are awesome! Either one of those last 2 would be some of my fave floors in the league. I remember you did an all white Houston Rockets floor which i absolutely loved and i am wondering if you can take that same all white floor with red logo and try and implement the shoulder or shorts loops on the Rockets uniforms inside the painted area. Anything you do is better than the plain and boring current Rockets floor! Another idea is to use the 2 tone floor to show smoke of the Rocket at center court lifting off. So much like the late 90s except modernized with only a different tone floor like Cleveland used to show their skyline.
  13. I dig it, thank you sir! You see the new Hornets court?
  14. Wow! LOVE the Spurs and Sixers in those colors! The Nba needs those to happen. The league is so dull and boring right now as far as overal brands look. Spurs could have fresh start after DROB, Duncan era is officially over. Love the Rockets sidelines, but maybe the logo with the shark faced rocket is too retro to really look modern. How about doing it in colors from this awesome cap i love
  15. LOVE Fiesta color Spurs. I like the second one best if both keys were teal. Modernized late 90s Rockets look? Iverson era in traditional sixers colors?
  16. Can you make a classic Houston Rockets court on dark wood, a bit darker than Brooklyns floor. Red in the paint and sidelines one version with gold lines and gold in the logo and another version with a more neon yellow like this http://oi41.tinypic.com/1z81w5.jpg
  17. I actually made three. First is obviously, a recolor of the team's colors which emphasizes more on a Yellow/White scheme with red baseline. Second is a take on their classic logo, which apparently has the Yellow/Red color scheme in it. Can you do something with a 3D logo for the Rockets? http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img94/8703/vlcsnap2012120722h20m21.png Maybe just the actual rocket part with flames coming out and smoke down to the baseline like their 90s court. Also what about a modern space theme with stars and maybe red galaxy(i just googled red galaxy and you get all sorts of sweet looking options for use in the baseline)
