I think you're on to something. I just referred to this set as the "Hail Satan" set in a work chat and it's already caught on. At least two others have since called it that.

I thought the aim was to have a new stadium in time for the '27 season, after the FedEx lease ends in '26? EDIT: Probably not possible to construct a new stadium by then seeing that it's already 2024. I just had one of those old man moments where I forgot that it's already 2024. I'm still living like it's 2011.

I would even speculate that they wait until moving to the new stadium and roll it all out at once (New name, unis).

Pumped about the return of blue masks. Didn't think the silver was bad, but this is a huge improvement.

I'm hoping that the Browns use this opportunity to update the actual helmet and facemask model used in their primary logo. That facemask in particular hasn't been used in 30+ years.

The stripe pattern of the gold pants used with the last set would totally work with the stripe pattern of the burgundy jersey. They could easily just use that design. I would be afraid that if gold pants were introduced, we'd just get stripe-less gold pants though.

I was cautiously optimistic that maybe they’d wear the black maybe just once, or even not at all, but they are slated for two games.

No, dead serious. This was discussed ad nauseam on the boards a few years back. Unless something changed recently, the stripes on the Bengals helmets have been painted on.

I watched that video someone posted of Riddell employees preparing the various alternate helmets and one guy was applying stripe decals to the new Bengals alt lid. I thought that those would be painted on?

Adding gold pants would be a more than welcomed addition, even if it just amounts to lipstick on a pig.

This looks better than I thought it would. I was in the 'move TV number to the sleeves' camp, but this may be the way to go.

I haven't made combos for every jersey available, but a few weeks back, I took a photoshop of the new white uniforms that I found online and added burgundy pants: And the black pants: There is also a rumored gold pants option, so I threw this together as well: Of course, all options would look much better if the set was devoid of black. Even just replacing the black sleeve stripes with gold stripes, kicks the look up a notch. Though still a polished turd:

I don't think it's particularly bad, but it's not particularly good either. I think it would look letter if they had gone with gold/yellow from the Moon era that was just a hair darker. I also wonder if a white mask would look better, or if it would come off as trying too hard to look like the old Eskimos.

The only way to make this set even semi-salvageable is to add some gold pants to the home set. See far left uni:

They should replace all years and Roman numerals on the roundel with, "We used to be good!".

Looks like the team has changed the roundel to include SB roman numerals versus the year.

I actually take solace in those being the alternates. The white alt was in the teaser video, and I was scared that that was going to be the regular away jersey.

It's clean out your locker day in Washington and the local media is asking WFT players what they think of the new jerseys. Chase Young says "They're tough. I ain't gonna fake.", and Jonathon Allen calls them "phenomenal". I say, "Red flag". History has told me that when players say the unis are "dope" or "fire" or whatever, then we are in trouble. I wish they'd let old men like me determine if they are dope or not.
