  1. NBA Changes 2017-18

6 of 7 in gray for the Pistons. All of those were with blue socks and tights.
  2. NBA Changes 2017-18

For the first time all season, the traditional matchup of white at home and dark away was not the most common in the league. 19 games (41% of the week) saw home teams in dark and visitors in white. Only 16 games (35%) had the traditional matchup. The traditional matchup has now occurred in only 48% of all games this season. Other interesting observations over the past week: The Knicks became the last team to participate in a color v. color game, doing so for the first time on 1/5 at Miami (blue vs. red). The only other team to have only one color vs. color game is the Kings. The Bulls and Rockets have played the most color vs. color games (14 each). The Pelicans are the team most likely to wear contrasting lower body accessories - they've been mismatched in 50% of their games. Only 4 teams (Cavs, Nuggets, Warriors, Suns) have played 0 games with contrasting accessories. The Pistons have the longest current streak in one uniform - 5 straight in gray. They also have the longest streak of the season in one uniform - 10 straight in white. The most commonly worn uniform is the Timberwolves navy - appearing in 66% of their games.

How many teams take the low hanging fruit, and "unwrap" the new uniforms in a social media post or video between the 24th and 26th? I can absolutely envision that approach.
  4. NBA Changes 2017-18

@Conrad. - do you know what the actual color of that Philly uniform is?
  5. NBA Changes 2017-18

I'm inclined to agree with this. To me it almost seems unfinished. Maybe with the shorts it will come together for me. But right now, other than the cream base I can't get too excited about this one.
  6. NBA Changes 2017-18

If rumors of production issues are true, that's probably why. Looking at that logo at the end, I wonder if the gradient is going to go from red to black on the shorts. So in total from yellow/orange to red to black
  7. NBA Changes 2017-18

Some interesting uni-centric stats from around the league through EOD Monday: The Hornets are 5-0 in home games wearing their white uniform, 4-8 in any other set The Jazz have played color vs. color all 7 times they've worn their yellow uniform The Jazz are also 0-8 in their navy uniform on the road The Bulls are combined 0-7 in their red and black uniforms on the road, their only road wins came while wearing white The Heat have not worn their Icon (regular black) uniform since 10/28, and have worn their Classic black set 14 times since then The Mavericks, Magic, and Trail Blazers are all winless in color v. color games The Rockets have the most color v. color wins (11) The Pistons have the most wins in a single uniform (13 - white) The 76ers blue uniform is the most frequently worn by percentage, appearing in 69% of their games The 76ers blue and Timberwolves navy uniforms are the most frequently worn by volume, appearing 20 times each.
  8. NBA Changes 2017-18

So what color are the 76ers uniform supposed to be? Off gray?
  9. NBA Changes 2017-18

Thanks - I was using flickr but I'll have to do an account with one of those two.
  10. NBA Changes 2017-18

For the life of me I can't figure out how to get an image to post on here, but Jeremy Lamb wore a black leg sleeve and tights last night, while the rest of the Hornets wore white. This is the first time that I have noticed anything like that with any team or individual this season.
  11. NBA Changes 2017-18

You probably won't have to. That's exactly the sentiment they're trying to create. No exact date yet for the Cleveland reveal, but merch started leaking yesterday with that design. Expect them to be released just in time for holiday shipping (next 4-5 days).
  12. NBA Changes 2017-18

Through end of day Sunday: Current longest streak for wearing the same uniform is at 6 games (Rockets - black, Timberwolves - navy) Kings and Knicks have not played any color v. color games Pistons, Timberwolves, 76ers have not debuted Statement uniform Knicks (69% of games) have worn Association uniform more frequently than any other team Timberwolves (74%) have worn Icon uniform more frequently than any other team Rockets (25%) have worn Statement uniform more frequently than any other team Heat (48%) have worn Classic uniform more frequently than any other team Rockets and Celtics have played the most color v. color games (9). 53% of games have been traditional (home team in white), 33% have been inverted (road team in white), and 14% have been color v. color
  13. NBA Changes 2017-18

Interesting. I hadn't seen that. The first time I saw the back of the uniform was on the Grizzlie's website, and that image had NOB above the numbers.
  14. NBA Changes 2017-18

This is even a change from when they were introduced. The Grizzlies had the NOB over the numbers when they released info about the uniforms on their website. Sometime between then and the first time they were worn on 11/26 the change was made.
  15. NBA Changes 2017-18

Some teams are scheduled to wear them around Christmas. I'd imagine they'll be released prior to that. The Hawks are planning on releasing their design during halftime of their game on 12/14 according to this article: Jeezy to Partner with Hawks
  16. NBA Changes 2017-18

Now that we're more than 25% of the way through the season, I have uploaded some of the graphs I've put together showing league-wide and team-specific uniform stats to a new flickr page. Feel free to check it out. I've tried uploading a few here but for some reason can't get the URL to upload.
  17. NBA Changes 2017-18

Agreed. There are several G-League teams that are pretty brutal as well. 905, Blue, Armor....
  18. NBA Changes 2017-18

To date, teams have worn mismatching lower body accessories (tights and/or socks) 33 of the 43 times (76.7%) they've worn the Statement uniforms. By contrast, they're only mismatching with the Association sets .4% (1/266) of the time - Spurs wore black accessories with white uniforms on 10/27. They've mismatched 2.3% (7/305) of the time with Icon and 15% (3/20) with Classic.
  19. NBA Changes 2017-18

No problem - easy to do!
  20. NBA Changes 2017-18

The Lakers have only worn white 6 times.
  21. NBA Changes 2017-18

Some observations from the last week: Only 4 games out of 23 played since Friday had neither team in the Statement uniform Den vs. Mem, Sac vs. LAC, Chi vs. Mia, Min vs. Phx 3 games had both teams wearing their Statement uniform Phx vs. NO, GS vs. NO, Utah vs. Mil Denver currently has the longest streak of games played in the same uniform - 7 in their Icon Miami still hasn't worn their regular black uniform since 10/28 Brooklyn, Chicago, and Houston have worn only their Icon or Statement (colored) sets at home Detroit, Milwaukee, and New York have worn only their Association or Classic (white) sets at home Boston and Minnesota are the only teams to have not worn their Association (white) set on the road
  22. NBA Changes 2017-18

Lots of teams going with repeated colors for their fourth uniform. Based on Conrad's predictions, at least twelve teams (Atlanta, Brooklyn, Chicago, Denver, Memphis, Miami, Orlando, Portland, San Antonio, Toronto, and Utah) will use a base color for their fourth uniform that matches one that's already been released. Of the teams we've yet to see a fourth uniform rendering for, Charlotte, Houston, Indiana, Minnesota and Philadelphia already have a uniform in each of their primary colors. My guess is Charlotte goes black + Buzz City on the 4th set and it's pretty well known Minnesota's will be grey. So that leaves maybe three more teams that could repeat a base color which would be half of the league.
  23. NBA Changes 2017-18

To kids who were less than 5 years old during that era, yes it is. (I work with college students and anything that happened prior to 2010 is decidedly old school/throwback in their eyes).
  24. NBA Changes 2017-18

Thanks for the correction. I've been trying to avoid using those terms for that exact reason. And yes, Phoenix has worn their classic edition twice at home - so I should have said they've only worn white at home (which was really what I was going for and should have said anyway).
  25. NBA Changes 2017-18

Should be a pretty interesting week this week uni-wise, especially after Thursday. Up to this point we've seen color v. color 11% of the time. By my count 18 teams now have enough contrast between their Association and Statement uniforms that they could conceivable go color v color against any opponent. And that number will go up even more with some of the City uniforms that have been teased already. Some observations from last week: Miami and Washington wore the same uniforms against each other on both Wednesday (@ Miami) and Friday (@ Washington) - Heat in throwbacks, Wizards in red Miami still has not worn their Association uniform since debuting their Classic design Miami has worn their Classic uniform in 7 straight games, the longest current streak in one uniform Toronto has played two home games against the Wizards, and worn red in both of those games Boston has played the most color v. color games (7) and is undefeated in those games Brooklyn, Chicago, and Houston have worn only their Association uniforms at home Detroit, Milwaukee, New York, Phoenix have worn only their Icon uniforms at home 48% of games (115/240) have featured one team in white and one team in blue. The home team has been in white for 68% of those games
