  1. NBA Changes 2017-18

The Thunder are wearing blue at home for national tv games specifically because it has the city name on the front, not the team name. Especially in smaller markets, that city name getting air time seems to be a big deal.
  2. NCAA Basketball 2017-18 New Uniforms

Several potential color conflicts - my guess is they'll have a white version for each team if necessary
  3. NCAA Basketball 2017-18 New Uniforms

I can't get the image to upload here, but check out the explanation of the Gonzaga uniform at the bottom of this Nike release. Might want to proofread that next time...
  4. NBA Changes 2017-18

Miami has worn their throwbacks in 6 of the 8 games they've played since debuting them. They wore white in the other two.
  5. NBA Changes 2017-18

The CNY jersey is supposedly their "Community jersey" so it's going to be considered part of their regular rotation - they may be wearing it other times.
  6. NBA Changes 2017-18

9 games last night, 9 home teams in white. First time since opening night that every home team has worn white.
  7. NBA Changes 2017-18

Interesting. I didn't know that about the original. I still don't love the look, but since it's consistent with the originals I can't really fault the choice to go that way. Just personal preference.
  8. NBA Changes 2017-18

Wow, the overlapping collar does not work at all for me. Would much prefer a scoop/crew neck with continuous striping. It's not as noticeable from farther away but up close I don't like that at all.

    Thank you!
  10. NBA Changes 2017-18

Some additional observations from my tracking: If you're looking for traditional uni-matchups, your best bet is to watch a game early in the work week. Teams have gone traditional 75% of games on Monday (15 total), 73% on Tuesday (16) and 71% on Wednesday (27). Avoid Friday, only 43% of games (16) have had the home team in white and road in dark. The Celtics (5-0), Bulls (1-4), and Rockets (4-1) have all played five color vs. color games so far. The Cavs, Nuggets, Warriors, Bucks, Timberwolves, Knicks, Suns, Trailblazers, and Kings have not played any color vs. color games. There are only three uniforms that are undefeated: Lakers throwback (1-0) 76ers white (2-0) and Kings white (2-0).
  11. NBA Changes 2017-18

Miami have not worn their "regular" black set since introducing the throwbacks. They've played 7 games since they first wore the throwbacks on 11/1. They've worn them five times and the white set twice.
  12. NBA Changes 2017-18

Whether it's home or away, nobody will know who this team is when they wear this
  13. NBA Changes 2017-18

Good point - poor wording on my part. I agree - it would be surprising to me if they didn't wear the others at least once at home.
  14. NBA Changes 2017-18

So with Sacramento going white at home last night that leaves only Brooklyn, Chicago, Houston, and Philadelphia who have not worn white at home yet. We know the Bulls plan on wearing red at home for every game. Have any of the other teams made any kind of official declaration?
  15. NBA Changes 2017-18

Because the gold one sells better
  16. NBA Changes 2017-18

If this is true, it will be the first time Boston wears green at home this year. They've not used white on the road or green at home.
  17. NBA Changes 2017-18

Some additional stats from my tracking: The following six teams have worn only white at home: Boston, Detroit, Milwaukee, New York, Phoenix, San Antonio (combined 19-10 record in those games) The following five teams have worn only dark at home: Brooklyn, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, Sacramento (combined 8-12) Most consecutive games in one uniform: 8 - Sacramento (purple) & Orlando (blue) Most color vs. color games: 4 - Boston (4-0), Chicago (1-3), Houston (3-1) Most frequent color vs. color matchup: red vs. blue (eight games, home team has been in red six of the eight) Undefeated uniforms (minimum 2 games): 4 - Golden State Classic (2-0), Philadelphia white (2-0), Raptors white (3-0), Jazz white (2-0) Winless uniforms (minimum 2 games): 2 - Brooklyn white (0-2), Dallas blue (0-6)
  18. NBA Changes 2017-18

Covered this today in my update over at uni-watch, but it will be very interesting to see if there is a shift in the number of color vs. color games after Thanksgiving. Right now 12% of games have been color vs. color, but literally half of the league has a white jersey and a blue jersey - so none of those teams can go color vs. color at this point. Obviously that's not the cause for EVERY situation where the road team has worn white, but it's certainly been a contributing factor. Putting aside what seems to be the strong preference for traditional home whites/road darks, are people more receptive to color vs. color than home dark/road white? Just curious!
  19. NBA Changes 2017-18

  20. NBA Changes 2017-18

@Conrad. - do you know if the Cavs/Thunder gold/yellow will be the same as what is found in their logos?
  21. NBA Changes 2017-18

Based on his tweet: Nets = Black (Brooklyn Bridge?) Cavs = Gray Pistons = Navy (Motor City) Clippers = Red Grizzlies = White Heat = White (Miami Vice) Bucks = Cream Thunder = Gray Blazers = Black Kings = Light Blue (fauxback?) Jazz = Gradient yellow/orange (Moab) I'd guess those are the ones being mocked up for today. As far as the Wolves go, their home uniform schedule has several games in gray so I think that's a safe bet for the Community Edition.
  22. NBA Changes 2017-18

No, according to Justise Winslow's quotes from a few days ago they will be a white base but he referred to them as "Miami Vice" so expect some vibrant accent colors.
  23. NBA Changes 2017-18

Interesting line here in this article from the Star Tribune about the Statement uniforms: "...the Statement Edition jersey will be available starting Nov. 20. They'll first be worn by NBA teams starting Nov. 25". Doesn't seem that's entirely accurate since the Thunder just announced they'll debut theirs on 11/24, but it will be interesting to see how many teams do wear them that weekend, and how many do so at home (merch $$). The Wolves themselves will play 7 home games after that date before they wear them at home for the first time on 12/16 vs. Phoenix, but they could debut them on the road prior to that.
  24. NBA Changes 2017-18

Justise Winslow was quoted this week referring to the Miami "Community" edition as a white uniform with a "Miami Vice" feel. So maybe some teal/pink/orange accents?
  25. NBA Changes 2017-18

The idea of establishing the Icon/Association is what I've been assuming. Also, allows Nike to do a slow roll-out with the Statement edition just before the holiday season, and the Community edition seemingly right around Christmas. Definitely feels like the marketing machine dictating the schedule to me.
