  1. I'm not sure what they are officially called (compression pants maybe), but those blue yoga pants these three are wearing under their uniform which seems to be all the rage right now look awful. It doesn't matter if they are white, which you see mostly or a color they just stick out so much that it hurts the aesthetic of any uniform. Don't get me wrong, I would imagine there is a good reason so many players have gone to wearing them, maybe they give the knee some additional stability or something, so I'm not saying they shouldn't be allowed to wear them. Just saying they are ugly.
  2. But how do you pronounce Center Martin "St.Louis". I'm guessing we all agree it's Looey and not Loo-is
  3. This New Affiliation between Houston and Round Rock (currently with Texas) is part of the following carousel.... Houston's current AAA team, the Fresno Grizzlies will be affiliated with Washington Washington's current AAA team the Syracuse Chiefs will be affiliated with NY Mets NY Mets current AAA team the Las Vegas 51's will be affiliated with Oakland Oakland's current AAA team the Nashville Sounds will be affiliated with Texas So now Washington and Texas have long distance relationships between Parent and AAA. In baseball it doesn't seem to matter as much as in the NHL. The NHL seems to have a lot more call-ups during the season, so it's more beneficial to have your affiliates close. With the shifting of a few teams by the AHL out West (well really by the NHL Clubs not the AHL itself), Pretty much all the top affiliates are a quick trip to their NHL teams for call-ups. The only exception that comes to mind off the top of my head is I believe Vancouver's AHL team is in Utica, New York. These affiliation changes are almost as much fun to watch as actual Baseball Games from July to September. Call me when the playoffs start, that is when Baseball can hold my attention for more than 2 innings on TV. It's fun when the season first starts, it's a nice signal that Spring and Summer are coming, but 162 games is just too much. I know they can't really reduce the number at this point since it would throw the historical and record books out of whack.
  4. OK, Baseball has officially jumped the shark, with the Hundreds of special Jerseys per season. Don't get me wrong, I think Minor League Baseball is the perfect place to do all these Special Jersey Promotions, in most Minor League cities the actual game is often an afterthought. A good portion of the fans are just out for a good time on a beautiful Sunny Day or Summer Night. A Cold Beer, Good Friends and a Fun Promotion. But, This makes no sense at all. Deaf people can read the word "Pelicans" in standard English. Putting the ASL form of the name on the jersey would make sense if they normally wore a blank shirt with a little speaker embedded that continuously broadcast the word Pelicans, Pelicans, Pelicans.... Then it would make sense that if you were deaf you would be missing something and possibly not know the name of the team playing in that Jersey. Now what they could do for any deaf patrons at the game for Deaf Awareness Night is have someone on the Scoreboard signing everything the public address announcer is saying throughout the game. That is the part of the game that a deaf fan is missing because of their hearing loss. I put this one right up there with the Hispanic Heritage jerseys that say "Los Mets" when the Jerseys don't normally have "The Mets" on them. The Brewers should have "Cerveceros" on their jersey (but not Los Cerveceros), Mets should just be Mets since there is no direct spanish translation for Metropolitans.
  5. I apologize if this was already submitted, I did a search of the site, but I couldn't go through all 263 pages of the thread.... Up until now the "Players in the Wrong Uniforms" refers to players who were a long time star for a team that finished their career on another. But how about an actual Wrong Uniform? I actually had the following hockey card when I was little and it confused the heck out of me. A hockey card for Jacques Lemaire who only played for the Montreal Canadiens, but as a member of the Buffalo Sabres. They even photoshopped (or whatever program they used then) the Sabres Colors on his Jersey over the Canadiens Jersey he probably had on in the actual photo.
  6. These don't count.... The idea is that once a player becomes a legend with a team it's weird (and very sad) to see them in the uniform of another team as they try to squeeze a couple more years out of their careers. With Mays' Millers picture and Robinson's with Montreal those aren't wrong in fact I would say in both cases these guys were in the right uniforms at the right time. Their time with these clubs may have helped them become the legends they are.
