  1. NHL 2018-19

From a report of the Sens town hall meetings with season ticket holders: "Eugene Melnyk said based on season ticket holder suggestions the teams development camp hardest working player will now receive the Jonathan Pitre Award each year. Also a STH suggestion of having the Canadian flag somewhere on the uniform will be pursued." If this actually happens, hopefully they just bring back this shoulder patch instead of lazily slapping a flag patch on, Calgary style.
  2. What expansion teams mascot could have been.

What about the USL's Indy Eleven?
  3. NHL 2017-18

The variety of colour schemes in this playoffs is great. I count 10 different primary jersey colours, and almost all of the first-round matchups are between 2 distinct looks (other than CBJ-WSH, which are inverted versions of each other).
  4. NHL 2018-19

Perhaps they've already committed to the =O= as the primary logo and uniform (I like the theory that they're not including the '90s uniforms as an option so that the heritage jerseys win by a landslide), but are gauging how popular the 2-D would be on merch. They can still sell vintage logo tshirts without bringing it back as the primary. Right now most of the vintage apparel the team sells uses the pre-modern O logo below:
  5. NHL 2018-19

The Sens sent out a survey to all of their season ticket holders asking for feedback on all aspects of the organization. They included questions about the jerseys & logos: I'm surprised they didn't include the 2-D jerseys in the survey, especially since they have it in the logo question. It seems like the fanbase is split between people who want to go with the O, and those who prefer the '90s look. The only thing everyone can agree on is that the current look is terrible.
  6. NHL 2017-18

I mean if they had chosen the safe route & gone with blue pants/gloves then no one would be talking about the uniforms. Fans don't buy team breezers or gloves, so they aren't hurting sales by going with something over the top. Plus, from what I hear the all-white Pacific All-Star uniforms were a big hit with kids. If anything the buzz around these probably helped the jersey sales (rarely have I seen so much attention paid to outdoor game uniforms outside these boards before). Obviously a more traditional choice would have looked a bit better on TV, but these games are about trying something different (especially when the Leafs have played in 2 before).
  7. MiLB teams with MLB-caliber identities

  8. MiLB teams with MLB-caliber identities

While it's not a bad look, I think you're missing the point of the topic. Much like the Modesto Nuts or Montgomery Biscuits, the Baby Cakes have a perfect "minor league" identity. They don't take themselves too seriously, and have injected a lot of local flavour into the brand. It's great, but isn't "MLB caliber". I do think though that if Nashville were to ever get an MLB team, they could easily adopt the Sounds identity (maybe with a couple of tweaks here or there):
  9. Why does no team use earth tone colors?

The old Coyotes look was pretty Earth-toned.
  10. NBA Changes 2017-18

Also because Terrence Ross already pulled this gimmick a few years back (with the right jersey too).
  11. NHL 2017-18

Another small thing that bothers me is that the main numbers on the home jerseys are white outlined in silver on a burgundy background, but the sleeve numbers on the roads are white outlined in blue on a burgundy background. The blue pants look better than black & burgundy, but they would definitely be jarring on the road considering the lack of blue on the jersey. They definitely should have added blue sleeve piping next to the silver.
  12. NHL 2018-19

At this point I have no faith in this organization making any smart decisions, off or on the ice, so who knows? With that being said, if they were already planning on making the switch to the =O= for next year (which it seems like they are), I'm sure they would have had to submit the changes to the league by now.
  13. NHL 2017-18

I never realized they had updated the nameplates when they first wore them inside, but upon some further research you're right (I've clearly stopped paying any attention to the games): What's strange is that they literally took the same numbers from the home jerseys (unlike the other =O= jerseys that used double outlines), but offered no explanation on why the name font was changed. I was at least expecting some marketing speak claiming it matches the font used on the original Stanley Cup or something.
  14. MLB changes 2018?

I feel like with the Raiders & Warriors both on their way out of Oakland, it makes sense for the A's to push the city name on the jerseys.
  15. NHL 2017-18

I would prefer they just go with the adjective-less Knights name as well, but based on what I've read/heard, it doesn't seem like an option (otherwise Foley likely would've just adopted it when Black Knights got vetoed).
  16. NHL 2017-18

Even if somehow Vegas loses the rights to the Golden Knights name, I highly doubt there will be any changes to the logo or uniforms. It seems like the branding was done purposely to not put any emphasis on "Golden", in case something like this happened. My guess is they would just shift to either Sand Knights or Dessert Knights, and make a slight adjustment to their wordmark logo. Given the historic start this franchise has had, they've already managed to build up quite a bit of brand equity with the current logo & uniforms. There's no way they ditch that to become the Neon Knights and bring magenta into the fold (or make any other branding changes that some have suggested).
  17. NHL 2018-19

I wouldn't be surprised if the Panthers unveil a 3rd jersey using the updated leaping panther on the inaugural red uniform (with the shade of gold updated). Would be a nice way to tie both looks together, and I'm sure they would sell well given the current wave of '90s nostalgia.
  18. NHL 2018-19

I am a fan of the Panthers inaugural set, but it's tough to call the template original when these bad boys were introduced the season before:
  19. Los Angeles Rams Brand Discussion

I would prefer to see them split the difference when it comes to the shade of blue. The navy helmet is far too dark, but I'd like to see them darken the jerseys just a touch. My ideal situation with the 2 LA teams would see the Rams using darker royal & yellow, with white only used on the road jerseys, and the Chargers using powder blue & white, with yellow trim. Both schemes are fitting for SoCal teams, and are distinct enough from each other.
  20. NHL 2017-18

Except Vegas has pretty much adopted this exact scheme (and even has a better executed gold-helmeted historical warrior logo).
  21. NHL 2018-19

I would rather see them pull a Rangers and use the heritage jerseys, but come up with a crest or shield that incorporates the =O= and have that he the official primary logo. These are great, but the inconsistency between the jersey/sock stripes and the pant stripes really bothers me. They should either have the striping match the jerseys, or just use solid black shells.
  22. NHL 2017-18

When they announced last year's game in Pitt, they said the plan was always to have Philly host the matchup the following year outside (in honour of both teams' 50th anniversaries). Not sure why they didn't do it this season though. I'm still surprised the NHL hasn't tried to capitalize on last year's playoffs by having the Preds play outside at Nissan Stadium, especially when the Blackhawks would be the most logical opponent.
  23. NHL 2017-18

While I've made it pretty clear on this board that I'm on team "go with the O", I'd actually prefer a primarily black 2D gladiator set over a primarily red =O= set. Every red & black team in the league uses red at home, and with the addition of silver you're suddenly entering Carolina territory. As a one-off special event jersey I'm ok with it, but this team should be in black, like they were when they entered the league.
  24. NHL 2017-18

This teaser shows a bit more than the first, and it actually does look like a thin silver stripe separating the black & white. Still not sure what colour the actual jersey is going to be though. Red would be interesting, given the team's already done a black & white heritage set, but I'm still hoping for black. One red jersey is one to many for the team IMO.
  25. NHL 2017-18

The Belleville Sens have shown that the regular white is a big improvement.
