  1. NHL 2017-18

While I've made it pretty clear on this board that I'm on team "go with the O", I'd actually prefer a primarily black 2D gladiator set over a primarily red =O= set. Every red & black team in the league uses red at home, and with the addition of silver you're suddenly entering Carolina territory. As a one-off special event jersey I'm ok with it, but this team should be in black, like they were when they entered the league.
  2. NHL 2017-18

This teaser shows a bit more than the first, and it actually does look like a thin silver stripe separating the black & white. Still not sure what colour the actual jersey is going to be though. Red would be interesting, given the team's already done a black & white heritage set, but I'm still hoping for black. One red jersey is one to many for the team IMO.
  3. NHL 2017-18

The Belleville Sens have shown that the regular white is a big improvement.
  4. NHL 2017-18

I'd like to see the Blackhawks finally break this out: And this would be a unique look for Boston (the football-style numbers would fit the setting well):

Can't believe I forgot about Dallas. Although much like the Canucks, I really like that they always have green and black separated by white. When alternates are inevitably brought back, I think the Stars would look great in a black jersey with green numbers outlined in white. Maybe the Texas state outline logo on the front.

I feel like your last suggestion contradicts your previous points. One thing Vancouver has gotten right with their most recent branding is the consistency of the colour scheme. Aside from their last poor attempt at a third jersey, green and blue are always separated by white, which prevents the bleeding issue you brought up. I think the only way a green outline on the numbers would work would be if they did a double outline in the vein of the Lightning. With that being said, I actually prefer the single-layer numbers. They're unique in the fact that they are the only multi-colour team with single colour numbers. They just need to find a way to add some green to the collars.

The hem stripe change is still an improvement over last year's look for a lot of teams. See Pittsburgh as an example. Last year: This year:

The Sens season ticket packages for this year add even more fuel to the full time =O= fire.
  9. NHL 2017-18

I think what he means is that between the two Florida franchises, the Panthers seem to own the sun/palm tree imagery. It does seem a little odd to feature a sunny beach in a logo for an all star game being hosted by a team called the Lightning.
  10. NHL 2017-18

They should've done things the other way around and changed the sleeve/gen striping to match the socks. The thicker outlines would be a big improvement.
  11. NHL 2017-18

While the font change is definitely and upgrade, on the whole these are even worse than what they were wearing before. The old look was a template-y mess, but at least it was a template designed for the Edge jerseys. Now the side panels don't even connect with the underarm panel. It's just a floating blob of colour. I also thought the collars might look better in full gear, but they really don't.

I'm liking the simplicity of the O by itself at center ice. I can't tell from the picture, but hopefully they've gotten rid of the 3D centurion inside the red line. It reminds me a bit of the Yotes old ice, the way the logo fills the whole circle:
  14. 2017-18 CHL Logos/Jerseys

Yes, for whatever reason they've gone with this look for camp the last few years or so.
  15. NHL 2017-18

I'd agree with you in most cases (I never got used to saying Scotiabank Place), but seeing as TD Place is a complex that includes both an outdoor stadium & an indoor arena I'd consider it an exception.
  16. NBA Changes 2017-18

These look way too much like the Bulls. I prefer the black set from this era that used red & orange as trim colours. The orange is just enough to keep them from looking like Blazers rip offs.
  17. NHL 2017-18

The team website is now also putting emphasis on the =O= logo. Seems like they're finally listening to the backlash they've been getting for not making any major changes. Based on all the hints they're giving now, I wouldn't be surprised if they make the change official before the end of this season. I highly doubt fans will be busting down the doors to buy the Adizero messes anyway.
  18. NHL 2017-18

Ottawa did mention an interest in updating their look, but I think they were too late to make any major changes for this coming season. We may finally see them get rid of the Edge template for '18-19. My hope is they wear an updated heritage uniform for the NHL100 outdoor game, then use it as the basis for the new set.
  19. NHL 2017-18

Those would be alright if they go with blue numbers, names, and pants. Based on the home, I really hope they've decided to eliminate the black from their set (besides logos). Considering how much emphasis they've put on honoring the past uniforms though, the black is probably sticking around.
  20. NHL 2017-18

But you can make the argument that the Cowboys earned the nickname organically. They didn't redesign their uniforms with a US flag patch on the sleeves out of nowhere.
  21. NHL 2017-18

That's why the alternate logo from the old thirds is perfect. It incorporates the wheat field & mountains from the flag's crest, but uses the teams actual colour scheme. Much better than a contrasting flag slapped onto the shoulder. The Canadian flag might bother me even more than the Alberta one. There are 7 teams in Canada, 2 of which are named after people from Canada, and another 2 that have a maple leaf front and centre on their primary logo. Sure, the red & white flag isn't as gaudy on the Flames' jersey as the provincial one, but it is still a worse kind of pandering (I hate the idea of any NHL team being called "Canada's team").
  22. USA World Junior Buffalo Bills Inspired Jersey

Still makes more sense than when Canada went green and white to honor the Riders at the tournament in Saskatchewan. At least the colours match.
  23. NHL 2017-18

And the colours of the names have been inverted, likely due to complaints about legibility. We'll see if the numbers follow suit, or if they'll stay blue outlined in white.
  24. NHL 2017-18

Well when new team president Tom Anselmi mentioned potentially changing the logo, he did say that it was too late to make any changes for the upcoming season. It's likely we see a minor update to the template this year, with hopefully a switch to the heritage set (or at the very least black at home & the elimination of the current logo) coming for 2018-19.
  25. NHL 2017-18

The thing is, it's a Stadium Series game, not a Winter/Centennial Classic. It's almost guaranteed to be some sort of new design, not throwbacks or anything throwback-inspired. With that being said, pretty sure the Leafs will still be breaking out the Arenas throwbacks as they celebrate their centennial.
