  1. Hi everybody! Given the positive feedback I got from my Tampa Bay Rays and Houston Astros tweaks, I decided to go for a full MLB tweak series. I'll make the designs in alphabetical order, alternating between the American League and the National League (e.g. Baltimore Orioles, then Arizona Diamondbacks, then Boston Red Sox, etc.). I'll be designing at least three uniform designs for each team, and for those with major changes (logos, wordmarks, etc.) I'll post those designs as well. Let's start with the Orioles! IMO, the Orioes have one of the best colour schemes in the league, but their uniforms could be improved. The orange and black trimming from the cuffs and pants are changed for a pattern inspired by the Maryland flag, the wordmarks and logos stay the same, except for the sleeve logo, which, given there's already a Maryland reference, becomes the "O's" logo. The new socks design is inspired by the 1901 road uniform.

    Padres Concept

So after looking at the Padres' past uniforms and what they have now, it's obvious what they used to have is better. I wanted to bring back brown but use a color from their recent history, so I went with the powder blue from the logo used 2004-2011. One of my biggest design rules is, with a unique color scheme, you can have rather simple uniforms. So by using powder blue and brown, I think the Padres can have a very unique look while doing something new. The home uses the script from 1974-1977. I used the original primary logo on the sleeve but made it brown and white. Finally, the cap logo from 1985-2003 is found on the hat. The away uses the wordmark from the 1991-2003 roads sans dropshadow. Primary Alt Road Alt C&C appreciated

    MLB Redesign (4/31) Major Update!

So, a lot of the new people on here don't know me. Mainly because a.) I haven't posted much on here lately, and b.) The last concept I posted here was OVER TWO MONTHS ago. The last IDCrisis was two whole months ago, apparently. However, throughout that time, I've been making lots of concepts, mostly baseball and ECU stuff, but even a whole athletic wear group, whose logo I accidentally made from mirroring the "A" on a custom font I was making for another concept, and I thought it looked really cool. You'll see it on my concepts from now on until I get a new logo, so get used to it. This series will redesign all 30 MLB teams + a "What if the Expos Never Moved" concept. Each team will have a Home, Road, Alt and Colorblast(Color Rush) jersey, and maybe more defunct teams if the feedback is really good. I plan on completing this series, however it might take a while, because my RL is pretty busy right now. Also, there will be a couple "challenges" within the series. There will be a little "easter egg" in every logo. Onto the first team! Team 1: Arizona Diamondbacks, The Most Interesting Set in the World Unpopular opinion alert: I really like the Dbacks new set. ICYMI, Arizona added a bright teal color, to take the role of co-secondary color with tan. they also added a very interesting pattern on the arms. They now have 8(count 'em, 8) jerseys, most of them the same color. What's going on now: My take: Are you really sure you want your eyes scarred? You do? alright, you can go ahead and look. But I am not responsible for any damage this does to your eyes. Alright 3, 2, 1, Reveal!!
  4. The 2016 World Series will be a historic one, to put it mildly. The Chicago Cubs have not won a World Series in 108 years; the Indians have waited 68. In just a few days' time, the history of one of those long-suffering teams will be changed forever. That's a pretty big deal. So for this set, I decided to look at some meaningful uniforms the two teams have worn over the last century. Much like my previous entries in this series, these uniforms would be worn a couple times per season, tops. The Cubs and Indians aren't true rivals, but I have a feeling they'll become them after this postseason. Let's start with the Cubs: CHICAGO CUBS For the Cubs home set, I decided to go with a clean, pinstripe-less look based on their home unis from 1945, which was the last time they appeared in the World Series. I used their current primary logo and a white cap with blue bill similar to their 1908 caps. I went with road pinstripes for their away set, but replaced the old "bear with bat" logo with their current "walking bear" alternate logo. CLEVELAND INDIANS: The Indians home set is a combination of two looks: their 1948 home unis and their late '80s "Major League"-era unis. As such, I'm thinking of making this uniform off-white to give it an old-timey look and to separate it from the Cubs home set. Their road set is loosely based on the Cleveland Cavaliers "Pride" uniforms, which the Cavs wore when they clinched the NBA Finals Championship this past June. I'm thinking of adding front numbers on the opposite side of the block "C," as well as eliminating the sleeve stripes to make it even truer to those Cavs jerseys. I left the road cap blank for now because I haven't yet decided how it should look. I'm leaning towards using Chief Wahoo, so that every cap in this series won't have a "C" on it. As controversial as Wahoo may be, the fact remains that he's been a big part of the Indians identity for the last half century. Any suggestions for the cap would be great. As always, C&C appreciated!

    Detroit Tigers

A couple years ago, I decided to take a stab at the NY-Penn League's Connecticut Tigers after they introduced mascot logos that looked like they'd come out of a 30s Mickey Mouse cartoon (and I say that in a good way). The road jersey in that concept was basically the Sparky Anderson-era grays, but with CONNECTICUT instead of DETROIT on the front. A few years removed, and I've decided I wanted to see what the big leaguers would look like in a similar set. First, the home and away... Like I'd done with the CT Tigers, the home whites are tweaked more than anything: orange trim is added to the D and lettering, and the tiger head appears as a left sleeve patch. Orange trim is also added to the cap D. The grays take their cues from the 80s, with orange-white-navy cuffs and pants striping, and eliminating the white outlines and front number. The socks also now have orange stripes. There is a home alternate, basically a white version of the grays, the chief difference being the Tigers script instead of Detroit. For the hell of it, I included a slightly toned down version of the CT set's striped alternate-most of the jersey stripes blend in, with only two remaining navy, fewer stripes on the cap, and the pants are still navy, but with more normal looking striping that wouldn't be pooh-poohed as something more befitting the Astros. But wait, there's more! In the next post, a second variant!
  6. Well, this is quite the surprise. Under Armour takes over for Majestic in 2020. Fanatics gets the apparel rights. Nike and Majestic are out of the MLB Licensing business.

  8. After finishing my Uni-Swap Series, I got the itch to keep making baseball concepts. Thus, I present the MLB Color Rush series. Inspired by the NFL series of the same name, I will be designing monochrome (solid-color jerseys and pants) uniforms for all 30 MLB teams. Please provide C&C; I want to know what works and what doesn't--where I should add piping, where I should remove it, etc. We start today with the Mariners and Padres, AKA the "Vedder Cup."
  9. Last year the White Sox honored their 1976 unis but went more conservative by wearing uniform pants rather than their infamous shorts. Probably a good idea. My idea is this: What if the shorts had actually caught on and every team decided to adopt them the following season? Going with this idea, I made concepts for each MLB that existed in 1977 with colored short pants. I'll start out with the pioneering White Sox, who I paired with the Indians. C&C appreciated.

    New Bracket Idea-2016 MLB

I should start off by saying I'm new here. I found this site a few years ago and fell in love with it instantly. This looks like a pretty fun forum here. About a month ago, I thought: "If these teams are tying to reach the mountain top, why don't we make it look like it. So I'm testing it with this year's MLB Playoffs. The 10 teams start at the bottom with the Commissioner's Trophy waiting for the champion at the top. This is another unique look at a bracket as well as the circle and the court/rink layouts. What do you guys thing?

  13. The Braves are moving to Suntrust Park for the 2017 season and I saw this design on all of the seats. It is a circular style logo like the new Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club logo. The words going around the circle say "Atlanta Braves Baseball Club" and at the bottom of the circle it reads "Est. 1871." The Braves word mark logo is in the center without a tomahawk there along with Hank Aaron in the background of the center. Check it out and let me know what you think.

    MLB Tweaks (Final Logos)

Hey everyone, For a while I've enjoyed to think about what kind of changes I would make to uniforms across MLB, just being into design as I am. I've always wanted to make a thread of my own here after seeing so many great ones, but never thought I had the computer skills, nor did I really think hand-drawns would show up great online. After my Twins concept though, I got to thinking and decided to at least try to flesh it out into an entire MLB-wide series. Things are probably gonna slow down quite a bit from me once school starts back up, but at least this is worth starting. This series is just gonna be my fixes to things across each of the uniforms, I'm gonna save major redesigns for maybe a future series... So here it goes starting off, naturally, with the Arizona Diamondbacks: Logos -Brick red, Black, and Teal are now the main colors. It's a good time for Arizona to move on to a more modern scheme. -The teal has been adjusted a bit, it's a little greener to look more like a color inspired by Native Navajo jewelry rather than Tron electric blue. -Caps are both the A logo, just because I'm personally not a fan of the D snake. -Both caps have the diamond snakeskin pattern on the brim to still achieve the two-tone look. -Sand-ish colors are still present in the identity, as the home is now cream, and the away is full-on the sand color. Uniforms -I like the way the 'D-backs' wordmark looks, besides the fact that it says 'D-backs'. I had to compromise and put the 'A' on the home. -The diamond pattern is on the back of all jerseys, which makes sense for a team named the Diamondbacks. -No pattern on the pants. It isn't really necessary. -I decided to keep the cut piping, but cut it at an angle on the jerseys, like the pants. The colors are also now teal/red/teal on the jerseys because I feel that looks more Arizona and less Tron. -As said before, the away is now sand. I didn't hate the concept of dark gray, just didn't think it fit the team, especially with teal. -Snake patch is on all jerseys. -Both alternates can be home and road. -Some may not like this, but all accessory elements are interchangeable. Things like hats, belts, and socks can be worn in different combinations with different jerseys. So, of course, let me know what you all think! All comments/criticisms welcome!
  15. Hello all, I am starting a MLB project. My NBA alternate universe will continue, but I will do this alongside it. The team completion order is in the spoiler: With that, here is the first team: the Baltimore Orioles! #1 BALTIMORE ORIOLES HOME AWAY HOME ORANGE ALT HOME/AWAY BLACK ALT BATTING PRACTICE All in all, this is a pretty simple set. The '60s scripts make a return, and the O's will rock the front panels - all of their caps (excluding BP) have a front panel. All caps have the 'B' in the 'Baltimore' script that I used. I took great inspiration from a Orioles concept from 2009 (a lot of my inspiration will come from here, as this is one of my favorite threads on these boards) with the checkered striping, as I like the uniqueness of it. I am also using a new BP template: mainly primary color, secondary color sleeves, and side panels (team's choice). While I didn't put a unique design in the side panels for Baltimore, I might for, say, the Yankees, which (if I do it) will have pinstripes in the side panels. I also started using a template for my designs, which will hopefully make them better. C&C is greatly appreciated!

    Seattle Mariners Rebrand

I posted this on my Behance, but I felt like I should post it here too! One of my least favorite brands in the MLB is the Seattle Mariners. I feel like their current brand is too cluttered with outlines, and doesn't represent a bold identity. This concept stems from an idea I've had for a while, adopt the color scheme the other pro teams in Seattle use. I was going for a bold refresh of a past identity, similar to the Houston Astros.
  17. Yet another MLB tweak idea instead of continuing the Premier League x Baseball crossover? Well, I'm kinda burned out of the series. I will obviously finish it, but I want to design other things meanwhile as well. It's time for the Houston Astros. I think the Astros have a really nice colour scheme, but their current identity is a bit bland. That's why I decided to bring back the "Tequila Sunrise" scheme, which is the prefered by most of the people. I have applied the Tequila Sunrise pattern to the wordmarks and logos, instead of using just orange. I have also used it changing the orange shades for blue: The uniforms feature the gradient on the cuffs, pants, socks and numbers, keeping havy as secondary colour: These are the sleeve logos: Props to @Carolingian Steamroller and @MJD7, whose great Astros designs inspired these ideas. C&C appreciated!

Tampa Bay Rays: Back to 1998

So, while doing the Premier League x Baseball crossover series, I had the idea of doing a next series about MLB tweaks. This comes from the re-designing idea I had for the Tampa Bay Rays. I think their current indentity is fine, but, IMO, the colours they use don't stand out, specially compared to the scheme they used dyring their first two years (from 1998 to 2000). That's why I decided to take their current wordmark and logos, using their original multi-colour gradient, using navy just for the trimming. These are the wordmarks from the jerseys: For the uniforms I decided to keep navy as seconary colour, adding the gradient on the cuffs, pants, socks and numbers borders. For the caps I decided to make the front white for the home and alt versions, inspired by the @Carolingian Steamroller's designs: NOTE: I know there are other TB Rays concepts on the forum, but I don't know if somebody has already tried this same idea. C&C appreciated!
  19. The recent "Battle of the Beltway" series between the Orioles and Nationals gave me an idea for special jerseys for mlb teams to wear throughout series with noted rivals, regional or otherwise. So here is the MLB Rivalry Series I started out with the aforementioned Beltway Series between the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Nationals. This happens only every few years due to it being an interleague series, but is noted when it occurs I went for jerseys that really showcased state flags and here they are: For Baltimore I decided to use a cream base and orange numbers with black outlining. The centerpiece of this is the sleeve stripes that are made up of the Maryland flag. The hat is orange with the oriole and a brim of the flag. The Nats unis have a vintage feel with a red base and white sleeves. The sleeves feature the D.C. Flag and the numbering is white. The hat is very retro with the flag in white on a dark blue base and white brim. Id love to hear what you think of these, c&c appreciated and all posts liked. Also feel free to suggest future rivalry series. Thx!
  20. I don't post on here very often anymore, but I recently had a thought that I believed other board members may share. I happen to have more than one favorite team in each sport, and this is primarily because I didn't grow up in just one place. There have been star players who have played for both of my favorite teams, but this doesn't happen often. I'll post those below. My question is, how many other board members also have had star athletes or favorite players whom have donned uniforms of both of your favorite teams? Gary Sheffield - Marlins/Brewers Terrell Buckley - Packers/Dolphins Ray Allen - Bucks/Heat
  21. In thinking about "Faces of the Franchise" I've realized that some teams don't have one face of the franchise, but rather many legends that represent the team. So I thought to myself "Wouldn't a sports-themed Mount Rushmore-type list make more sense?". Being a Detroit Tigers fan, this is an especially tough list because they've had so many legends wear the Old English D on the front of their jerseys. But without further ado, here I go. Ty Cobb: An obvious choice, simply one of the best hitters and base runners in league history. Even if he was a great pain, he was also a great baseball player. Hank Greenberg: A unique choice, I know. But he was one of the Tiger's most prolific home run sluggers in their history. It also helps that he was a hero to Detroit's Jewish population at a time when they needed a hero. Al Kaline: A no doubter here. I mean, he is nicknamed Mr. Tiger after all! He spent his entire career with Detroit, and he is known for his class as much as he was for his playing skill he had back in the day. Alan Trammell AND Lou Whitaker: There's no way I could split up one of the best double play combos in history by choosing one over the other. It is almost impossible to not think of one without the other. They spent their entire career together, and during that time they became fan favorites for their amazing defensive plays and for leading Detroit to the 1984 World Series. In compiling this list I made the decision to leave off some players that still meant a lot to the organization (Willie Horton and Kirk Gibson, to name a few). I also decided to stick to players only, which led to Mike Ilitch and Sparky Anderson being left out. I thought about putting Miguel Cabrera on the list, but I'm waiting to see how the rest of his career pans out. So what's your list?
  22. The title says it all. The reason I brought this up is because me & a buddy were discussing ugly uniforms. It made me notice that the State of Colorado has ugly jerseys galore. MLB- The Rockies are a team that all love to hate on here. The too-much black, the vest jersey, everything about the set looks bland and bad. NHL- The Avs wear RBK Edge Piped awfulness and I hate the new C shoulder patch logo. And I don't care, that alternate jersey is bland and needs tweaking. Plus, Navy and Maroon don't work often. NBA- The Nuggets jerseys looked better before the unnecessary wordmark & number colour change they made last year, which I still never got. Why use black numbers? The yellow alternate jersey looked better before they changed the wordmark too to that Rainbow- era wordmark last year too and that jersey was fine and should be the basis for a new set. That sleeved alternate (The White-Gold jersey) is meh. The jersey itself is awful, but the shorts look okay. NFL- I don't care how iconic you think they are, the Broncos look dated. Now that Manning is gone, this should be the time to change and re-modernize one of your much better looking sets. MLS- The Rapids are nothing special & that yellow jersey they wear is ugly. So, just my thoughts. Who do you guys nominate or do you agree with my choice of Colorado?
  23. So I had started another thread like this using Mizuno's custom jersey site and Richardson Hat's site. I was pretty close to finishing the American League but I felt the site kind of limited me to different design options. I also wanted to include pants and socks with my ideas so I found a template online. I'm kind of going back and forth between paint and iVinci (which I'm still learning to use). As with my previous thread I'm going to add two expansion teams, making 8 divisions of 4 teams each. My expansion teams are going to be the Expos and the Portland Loggers. I will also have Tampa relocating to Charlotte and taking the name of the minor league Carolina Mud Cats (I will be changing the colors). To create the divisions, I found this map online, and made some changes to include the 3 new teams, my divisions will be as follows NL EAST NL NORTH NL SOUTH NL WEST New York Mets Milwaukee Brewers Washington Nationals San Francisco Giants Montreal Expos St Louis Cardinals Carolina Mud Cats LA Dodgers Philadelphia Phillies Cincinnati Reds Miami Marlins San Deigo Padres Pittsburgh Pirates Chicago Cubs Atlanta Braves Arizona Diamondbacks AL EAST AL NORTH AL SOUTH AL WEST New York Yankees Detroit Tigers Texas Rangers California Angels Boston Red Sox Cleveland Indians Houston Astros Oakland A's Toronto Blue Jays Chicago White Sox Kansas City Royals Portland Loggers Baltimore Orioles Minnesota Twins Colorado Rockies Seattle Mariners

Mies van der Rohe White Sox Concept in Black and Red

So in creating my MLB series I worked on a lot of different ideas for the White Sox. At one point I thought of utilizing the retro style S-O-X and the batterman logo. I was inspired by the many buildings by Modernist architect Mies van der Rohe here in Chicago, especially his well portioned windows and breaks. So I tried to use 1-3-1 proportioned lines to break up the space on the shoulders and pants of a uniform. I don't think the result here is any better than what I ultimately decided on the series but its an enough of an oddball to merit posting outside of the outtakes. Sleeve Details/Home/Road/Alt 1/Alt 2/Batting Pratice
  25. Not a bad logo for the most part, I love how the Marlin is incorporated into a star. Only complaint is slapping the sponsored Master Card logo on it. I guess in this day and age we better get used to corporate logos on everything - on NBA jerseys. Sure it will happen on NFL, NHL, and MLB jerseys soon.
