  1. I've prepared some NHL concepts where I try and refresh team branding and uniforms. I'm trying to make the rest of the league fall more in line with what I've come to expect from Adidas. All teams get *some* sort of change from their current (Reebok) uniforms, although a few don't see much change at all (ie. Flyers, Leafs). I will accept C&C but I don't plan on making revisions to the uniforms unless I really feel compelled. I will be adding "Marquee Matchups" where teams use special uniforms. This is where C&C would be most useful, in suggesting matchups, uniforms, revisions, etc. I will use this first post as a HUB for the concepts: Metropolitan Battle of New York (NYI v NYR) Keystone Classic (PHI @ PIT) Stevens' Cup (WAS + MIN @ NJD) Ohio Classic (PIT @ CBJ) Atlantic Tribute (NJD v PHI) All-American Clash (STL v NYR) Atlantic Battle of Ontario (TOR v OTT) Governor's Cup (FLA v TBL) All-American Clash (WAS v DET) International Classic (BOS @ MTL) Norris Cup (CHI v DET) Hartford Classic (CAR v BUF) Central All-American Clash (NSH v COL) International Classic (VAN @ CHI) All-American Clash (MIN v STL) Battle of Wisconsin (MIN v CHI) All-Canadian Clash (TOR v WPG) Star Series (MIN v DAL) Pacific California Series (ANA + SJS @ LAK) Battle of Alberta (CGY v EDM) Battle of the Desert (ARI v VGK) Marquee of '93 (FLA v ANA) All-American Clash (VGK v LAK) Pacific Territories (SJS v VAN)

    Vegas Golden Knights Wallpapers

I'd like to share these Golden Knights wallpapers I've made for my fan account. Hopefully by posting these here they can get in the hands of like minded creatives and fellow VGK fans. Mobile versions can be found at http://vivavgk.deviantart.com/gallery/
  3. Overall, I'd say that the transition from Reebok to Adidas has been positive for most teams in the NHL. But some teams took a step backwards...so here is my attempt to fix their errs. First up: Nashville What they unveiled: Too minimized for my liking. Here's my take: C&C appreciated. I probably won't get to every single team in the league, most likely just a handful of them that actually need changes to perfect their current sets. Buffalo is next!

    AHL "NHL Night" uniforms (29/30)

Most AHL teams have adopted their parent clubs' identities and many are pretty close to it. I wanted to try and embrace that by creating the "NHL Night" promotion for AHL teams, where they look back into their parent clubs' uniform histories and make a past look their own. When creating this, I figured this promotion could be like a Sunday promotion, or since division teams play each other 8-11 times, they could use one of those matchups as an "NHL Night." Some AHL teams get crazy with alternates, so what's one more to the mix? Starting with the Atlantic Division, here are the Bridgeport Sound Tigers modeled after the 1978-1995 New York Islanders. We all know how much they like reminding us about the four cups they won in the 80s, so why not make their AHL club wear the unis they did it in. *Logos from sportslogos.net, template from the concept resources on the boards, and nhluniforms.com for jersey references.

    Kansas City Scouts Concept

This was my semi-quarterfinals entry into the HJC Open, and I did a concept for the Kansas City Scouts. The Scouts jerseys were good for their era, but IMO had way too busy of a striping pattern. My goals for this concept were to simplify the pattern, and to give them a distinct look, and to improve the colour balance. The striping pattern consists of a large stripe with a thin one inside of it, and two slightly larger stripes both above and below the large stripe. I used the KC logo as it is by far the best logo in their set. C&C is appreciated!
  6. Good evening CCSLC! Now, I do believe that this is attempt number three at redesigning the NHL. However, I am determined to actually finish this time. Unlike other failed attempts, wherein I would design one concept, post, wait for C&C and then move on, this time I've actually completed almost half of the NHL in preparation. I've been working on this project for the past month or so, I've really been having a lot of fun with it and I'm moving at a pretty steady pace so I feel as though I can actually make it through the league. What I really wish for this thread is a lot of active discussion, comments, and critique so that I may hone my skills at designing. I'd like to keep this organized, so I'll get started with some guidelines of what I'll be posting. Also, as a note: I haven't found an Adidas template compatible with the program I use (PAINT.net) so I chose to simply use the Reebok Edge template found in the Paint Users Paradise thread. I have, however, added an Adidas tag to the inside that I drew up. Outline All teams I complete will have some alteration to their logo and/or color scheme that I will point out with each concept. Note: These changes could be as small as a color adjustment to a complete logo overhaul. I will only be posting two uniforms per team: Home (color), Away (white) No team will use more than two logos. This is pretty standard in the NHL. However, we do see teams with all kinds of logos with their set. If I include a logo in the set, it will appear on the uniform. I see no need to include more since this is simply a logo/uniform project and not a complete identity project. NHL shield logos will be recolored in respective team colors. Teams will be posted in no real order, simply which concept I would like comments on at that time. Please, no comments just requesting the next team. Some critique on the concept would be appreciated. Okay, first up: ARIZONA COYOTES - 4.3.17 Logos: I really loved the Coyotes inaugural set. The kachina pattern was very unique to the team and even though it made it's debut in the 90s, it wasn't a concept that was overbearing or gaudy. However, and, as unpopular an opinion it may be, I really like Arizona's current logo and uniform set. I have made some changes to the logo, though. Replacing black is a darker brick red and I have turquoise to the color scheme, drawing inspiration from the art of the Pueblo which is wherein the initial kachina pattern derived. The alternate 'A' paw logo underwent no changes other than, of course, the color scheme. Uniforms: Again, the kachina pattern was my favorite part of the Coyotes inaugural set. The logo to me was fine, but I actually like the current better. I tried my hand at a custom kachina pattern that is only adorned on the hem as I thought that adding it the the sleeves as well made it a bit busy. If you look closely, you'll notice that within the pattern are crossed hockey sticks in the darker brick red color. The shoulders stripes are very loosely based on the current uniforms. Thanks for checking these out! C&C is greatly appreciated!
  7. Skip to end of series for all 32 teams together After just finishing up my NFL series, I've decided to tackle the NHL. Like my last thread, my goal here is to tastefully modernize without going too crazy. Some of the designs will be a complete overhaul, while some will just be minor changes to perfect the look. Also, I will be expanding the league by 2 teams in the West. One in the Central and one in the Pacific to even out both conferences to 16 teams. I'm not going in any particular order here so these will just come as I have ideas and finish. As always, C&C is greatly appreciated and I hope you all enjoy! 1/32 -- Winnipeg Jets First up is the Winnipeg Jets. Jets fans have always taken their hockey seriously and have a very strong brand and sense of pride in their team. I wanted to go with a classic/sleek design here. When the Jets released their sweaters, I was never a fan of the double blue. In my concept below, I have removed the lighter shade of blue. Also of note, I removed the shoulder patches. While I really do like the logo, I have decided that the design works better without them. Home/Road/Alternate Sweater The home jersey is primarily dark blue. The jersey crest remains unchanged. Striping is consistent on the sleeves and the waistline. It features a thick white bottom stripe with a thinner silver stripe above. Numbers are white with a silver outline. Collar is two toned with silver on the top and white on the bottom. The collar laces have also been removed as I feel like the pointed collar ties in better with the sharpness. The away sweater is much like the home with white becoming the primary. New here is a blue yoke which comes down to a point just above the sleeve numbers as opposed to the traditional rounded yoke. I feel that this blends well with the design, especially the tip of the Jet in the logo. Numbers are now blue with a silver outline. The third sweater is a white alternate. I thought this would be fitting and they could wear it for special occasions such as "White outs" as they have had in the past. Essentially it is the road jersey with the Jets wordmark angled across the front.

    Red Wings Alternate Concept

Because there won't be alternate jerseys next year, I was thinking of ideas for alternate ideas for jerseys, and this popped into my head. This Red Wings concept takes their sash from their stadium series jersey, and adds a stripe below, like their winter classic jerseys. The striping pattern also throws back to when the Red Wings were the Cougars. the sleeve numbers are placed in the stripes to make the jersey unique. C&C is appreciated!
  9. As much as I love the new Bolts logo and uniforms, when they're placed next to the Maple Leafs it REALLY drives home how similar the two are. While some clamored for the old set I honestly didn't like the striping and I prefer Tampa Bay as a blue base team as opposed to a black base. Nevertheless, black and silver need to comeback to distinguish the Bolts from the Leafs and so here we are One of my biggest pain points with the old set is that too much black weighed down the uniform. This is alleviated by keeping the black to a minimum secondary and brightening the blue. (It's for this reason there are sleeves on the road whites but not on the home blues. The primary logo stays almost the exact same as far as proportion but you can see the how the brighter blue pops allowing the use of black without added weight. The existing wordmarks would carry over just with the new blue used. So Tampa Bay...ready to stop looking like you're in Ontario?

    San Jose Sharks Adidas concept

So a few years ago when the Sharks were hosting a Stadium Series game against the Kings, I came up with a concept of what they might wear. Many people said it should be used as the full-time set. However, others said that the colors meshed too much and it bogged down the design. So, with Adidas set to unveil the uniforms tomorrow, I thought I'd throw my design in what I would hope the Sharks would do. Granted, I'm not expecting much. I'd be pleasantly surprised if there was something even close to this. Shoulder patches were left blank as I didn't know which one they were going to go with. I just saw that reveal in the teaser trailer this afternoon. So the orange could be removed, but I might actually be getting used to the orange...oh my, what is happening!

    Vegas Golden Knights Uniform Mock-ups

Here is a jersey mock-up I did awhile back and two different iterations of it I've done recently.
  13. It's been ages since I've really had the time to focus on some NHL stuff. There are a number of concepts just lying around in one of my folders that I've never really put any finishing touches on (i.e. sleeve numbers, adding helmets, pants, socks, etc), so I thought it was time I finish them and put on a little more polish. I prefer to use the old CCM paint templates because I find them easier to use, what being incredibly horizontal. They are a bit bulky, but unlike the Edge templates, I find there's more space utilize. I have Reebok'd them, though, they will have the Reebok tags and Edge collars, but I streamlined them, so they will all have the same basic collar template, which I'll concede is lame on my end. Right now I only have four teams ready but I am hoping to polish off about ten or eleven over the next few days. They're not in any discernible order either, sorry. Vegas Golden Knights Prediction

After a few teasers and a look at Vegas' draft hat, I've decided to put together a last minute prediction for the Golden Knight's jerseys. C&C is welcome.

    Tampa Bay Lightning Logo Concept

Trying to play with something I always thought would work for the Bolts. I like the secondary they have now, but I just thought this could be a tertiary, or if they ever make the secondary the primary. I tried to do my own bevel...but I kinda got stuck. So I'm providing two examples, one with the unfinished bevel and one without. Its still a work in progress. Let me know what you think, any advice, changes that need to be made. Thanks.

    Quebec Nordiques

Hello all, This is my first concept on the boards. I made this one quite a while ago, but have not decided to post it until now. I'm not very tech savvy and so just used Google Drawings to make this and so it doesn't all line up quite the way I'd like. As the name 'Nordiques' means 'northerners', I decided to play off that and make it the shape of a compass. The fleur-de-lis represents the province of Quebec and also helps form the tip of the compass. The red border of the compass forms the shape of the letter 'Q' for Quebec. The 'N' and the 'Q' in the logo are quite helpful for making a wordmark, especially since in french the team is 'Les Nordiques de Qu├ębec' (the 'N' before the 'Q')

Las Vegas (Something) Knights NHL concept

Mr. Foley, (the billionaire that's picking up most of the tab for the Las Vegas NHL project), has repeatedly stated that he prefers the name "Black Knights" for the Vegas hockey team. He's the man, so I've attempted a concept using Mr.Foley's choice of name and colours.

    NHL Concepts

This is a series I've started on another app. It's my ideal uniforms for each team created on NHL17. This is my first ever topic, so be generous with the C&C please, but feedback/criticism is welcomed. Enjoy!
  20. Last year I did a full re-design for the NHL. At the time, the Vegas logo wasn't out yet. Now that it is and it's getting close to the jersey reveal, here's my take on the Vegas Golden Knights. I have a few different designs that I put together, however, this one was the one I liked the best. I wanted to give the feel that there are different sections to the jersey much like the armor of a knight (shoulder yoke, sleeve/waist striping). I dabbled without a yoke for a bit, but opted for it simply for that reason. The secondary mark is used as a patch on the shoulders. Striping is consistent across the waist and sleeves. If you've seen my NHL series, you'll know that I love sublimation so I had to throw my spin in on this one. I used the "Welcome to Vegas" stars across the gold striping on the waist. I didn't carry it to the sleeves because it felt too busy. There are 4 jerseys in this set. Home/away/2 alts. Alternates are a black and a red version. I opted to not make a gold because I'm not a huge fan of it as a primary (ie Jaguars color rush). Anyway, let me know what you think. I'll likely post my other versions I created as well. 2018 Winter Classic Logos

Decided to create some winter classic logos for the Rangers, Sabres, and the game itself. Rangers: A mix of their 1920s-30s logo with the modern logo, along with the throwback white color. Sabres: Using the current buffalo and two sabre concept, but adjusting it with some throwback white. Event Logo: Using reference from the inaugural logo for Citi Field from 2009, this logo uses citi field's facade, along with the commonly used winter classic logo. Lemme know what you think:
  22. So I've had this idea in my head where teams are required to drop a color and replace it with another. Most redesigns circle around bringing back old colors or cycling the palettes to make them more appealing, so I decided to try something a little more out of the ordinary. This is my first time doing anything like this, so criticism is appreciated! First up is the Lightning. I hate how they have black for basically no reason, so I had them drop it and exchange it with a bright, electric blue. The crest also gains a shadow, and the alternate goes from a classic roundel to an outline of Florida outlined like the crest. What do you guys think? Anything I should work on?
  23. Haven't done this in a while. So I'm going to be attempting a NHL Concepts series. I really don't have any plans for most of the league, but I have enough to start this thread up. Basically I'll post when I finish a concept, and I'll start working on a concept when I have an idea for one. Exciting! First off. The Tampa Bay Lightning. Inspired by my discussions with @Rollins Man and @Morgo in the NHL 2017-2018 thread. Basically I wanted something evocative of the original look while fixing the problems with it. I went back to the Honolulu blue the team used at the start of their tenure, as it contrasted better with the black than the royal blue they switched to (and still use). The dated logo has been replaced by a slightly modified and recoloured version of the current alternate mark. I used a TB monogram based off of the team's wordmark for the alternate logo. I decided to homage the current set with the alternate. Blue is now the primary colour, white the secondary, black the tertiary, and silver has been removed completely. C&C welcome, as always.
  24. Haven't had too much time to work on much of anything recently, but with HJC's latest competition starting up, I figured it would be a good time to get back in the design game. The rules for this competition allow for you to submit 3 concepts for teams at the '17 IIHF World Championship (USA, Canada, and your choice). If I can, I'd love to turn this into a series, but for now I am just going to post my work for those first three teams. I'll start off by posting Team USA...C&C appreciated!

Hartford Whalers Back to the NHL

Ah yes, the Hartford Whalers. Today, everybody loves the Whale. Everybody wants to see the Whale return. Of all the NHL teams that no longer exist, perhaps none are more popular and remembered more fondly than the Hartford Whalers. I personally loved the Whalers because of their unique logo, that wonderful marriage between a "W" and a whale tail to come together and form a hidden "H" in the middle. During their 18 years in Hartford, the team qualified for the NHL playoffs just eight times, with seven of those appearances coming as the fourth-place team in their division, originally the Norris and later the Adams. In five of their playoff seasons they finished with a losing record, including a 26-41-13 performance during the 1991-92 season, and only once did they advance beyond the first round. My question is, could the Hartford Whalers return? , If so, what would their logo and uniform concepts look like?
