    2017 Gold Cup Paint Redesigns

I've been reading these boards for a couple years, but have never had the time or patience to create a concept series until now. The main reason i chose to redesign the CONCACAF Gold Cup is because most of the countries have very basic and template designs and lack any patriotism, especially the US. The main inspiration on all the teams will be the nations' flag, along with influence from past uniforms. First up from Group A, Canada. I kept the logo unchanged since they already have one of the best in the region. The uniforms are pretty straight forward. The Home is a Red jersey with a white chest stripe(for obvious reasons) and accents for the home kit. White with a subliminal maple leaf at the bottom of the torso as well as a flag styled stripe on the sleeves. The black third uniform uses a similar sleeve stripe and red and white accents on the jersey and shorts. The socks are black and red stripes opposed to the red with white stripe on the home and road socks. All three feature a line from "O Canada" above the name on the back. "our home and native land", "see thee rise", and "the true north".

    Great Lakes Premier League (GLPL)

I know this isn't exactly breaking news, but it's probably new for most of yall, and even for me, an Ann Arbor resident, I'm just now finding out about it, thanks to some recent developments. Basically the Great Lakes Premier League (GLPL) will be having its inaugural season this year, starting in May, featuring 5 teams from Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois who will play a round-robin season with no postseason. The league will qualify teams for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup via its United States Adult Soccer Association membership, so it does "matter" (you might see one of these clubs playing your favorite MLS team!). I'll be posting the team logos and uniforms ITT, starting with AFC Ann Arbor (starring TJ Tomasso, former New England Revolution keeper). Feel free to contribute if you have any logos or uniforms that I miss. First, AFC Ann Arbor's placeholder logo used during their Indiegogo fundraising campaign last year: Thankfully, this was recently upgraded, and also thankfully it wasn't done by the Browns' designers: There's also a roundel logo on their website, which may be their secondary (I'm not sure): As for the uniforms, you can see in the above pic that they're just practicing in generic clothes right now, but they posted this concept on that Indiegogo page last year: However, based on the logo changing from blue and green to double blue, and also due to their Indiegogo page mentioning to "show up in your sky blue and orange next spring when AFC Ann Arbor takes the field to battle the likes of Detroit City, Lansing United, and the Indiana Fire", I'm betting that the uniforms they wear in May will look much different.

  5. From the U.S. Department of Justice indictment following their raid that resulted in the arrest of several FIFA officials: There can't be that many Panamanian manufacturers of soccer uniforms and balls, can there? I'd be curious whether it was a major one that outfitted any notable clubs or just a complete front that didn't do much actual business.

    Domestic Soccer 2013

MLS has released their 2013 Season Schedule. A few tidbits from the article: The 2013 Season begins March 2 (earliest start ever!). The season will last 35 weeks and each club will play 34 matches, 17 at home and 17 away. Each club will play the same in-conference matches as out-of-conference matches. RIVARLY WEEK: Eight of the nine matches in Week 3 of the 35-week season will pit regional rivals against one another. More than 90% of matches will fall on the weekends or holidays, with none affecting FIFA World Cup Qualifying. The MLS Cup Final will again be hosted by the club with the better record. However, the Final will either be on December 7 or 8.
