  1. NHL 2017-18

I thought it would be wise to create a separate thread for next season. What we know: -Adidas is taking over the production of the on-ice jerseys. Fanatics will produce the retail jerseys. -Alternate jerseys will not be worn during the 2017/18 season. -Edmonton Oilers will promote their orange 3rd jersey to full-time home status. Rumors: -New Jersey Devils are reported to have a redesign in store. -Washington Capitals are rumored to be returning to the retro jerseys full time. *edit- also if a mod could move the posts from the 2016/17 thread to this one, that would be cool.
  2. 90s to Now Series

Decided to do a mini-series inspired by the Mariners "Past Meets Present" scheme. However, the reverse applies to this series, as I am taking the best/most infamous sports logos of the 90s and giving them a modern color refresh, rather than the other way around. I'm starting off with the NHL, before moving onto the NBA, and MLB (I'm skipping the NFL because the league significantly lacks iconic "90s" logos and colors). With regard to the NHL series, the logos featured are the only ones that had noticeable color changes. In my opinion, the Blues and Canucks old logos with their new color schemes look the best while the old Capitals logo looks the worst with its new scheme. Hope you enjoy this series!
  3. We have the Players in the "Wrong" Uniforms thread and within that thread I've seen a few "Right Team, Wrong Uniform" entries. I thought I'd separate the two, because it is an interesting topic of its' own. Here are a few to start the thread off with ... Charles Barkley, Preseason 1992, Phoenix Suns Matt Hasselbeck, 2001, Seattle Seahawks Jeff Bagwell, 1992, Houston Astros.
  4. NHL Preds, Sens & Ducks

With all the new stuff happening in the NHL, here's a few ideas to kick around...
  5. So this is the series I mentioned about in my new look NHL, which now will be going on alongside this series, the AFL-NHL crossover! Australian Rules Football is an amazing sport that I wish had more of a global presence, especially here in Canada. For you folks who don't know what this sport is, here you go. I discovered it two years ago, and am now a proud supporter of the Western Australian teams. This idea came to mind when the folks at HJC started the AIHL (Australian Ice Hockey League) redesign. I'd been wanting to do another crossover series, and everything just clicked. Adelaide Crows Brisbane Lions Carlton Blues Collingwood Magpies Essendon Bombers Fremantle Dockers Geelong Cats Gold Coast Suns GWS Giants Hawthorn Hawks Melbourne Demons North Melbourne Kangaroos Port Adelaide Power Richmond Tigers St Kilda Saints Sydney Swans West Coast Eagles Western Bulldogs I will be starting off with the two recent grand finalists, Richmond and Adelaide, then going down the ladder (standings). So without further ado, here we go! First off are the newly crowned premiers after 37 years, the Richmond Tigers. The team's jumpers (uniforms) are black with a yellow sash, so I turned it into a chest stripe to fit in with other hockey jerseys. The aways are yellow as a tribute to the jumpers the tigers won the premiership in. The sock stripes are inspired by the team's past home jumpers. The numbers are white like they are on the club's jumpers. C&C appreciated!
  6. When I was in my early teens, my parents bought me NCAA Football 98 for the computer. I really enjoyed the game, and it was very well-designed for the most part: 100+ schools; full-season play with rankings, major bowl games, and major awards; school fight songs; decent playbooks; something approximating logos on the helmets. It was a very good game for the late 1990s---not as good as the Football Pro series overall, but distinctly collegiate and lots of fun. Anyway, despite the overall quality, there were two details that I have since learned were wrong. One, LSU by default wears yellow jerseys over white pants at home in that game. Two, Missouri's colors are green and gold in the game instead of black and gold. (Come to think of it, I think the latter was also the case in that college hoops game for the Super Nintendo even earlier.) I was wondering: have you guys and gals noticed any similar errors in other games? (Incidentally, Football Pro 98 has the Eagles wearing kelly-green-and-gray even though they were in their second season with their current and inferior color scheme.)
  7. NHL Concepts- NHL17 style

This is just some uniforms i came up with. Some are just random teams, some are based on real teams and also how i wish their uniforms were. This is my first time posting concepts, so just ignore the format i have them in, i will change it as time passes. Im also aware that the photos are blurry, just bare with me please. C&C is appreciated
  8. Kansas City Scouts: Resurrection

While playing NHL 17, I came across the Kansas City Scouts' logo when messing around on Create-A-Team. I got to thinking pretty hard about what I would do if I were ever approached to build a new Scouts identity from the ground up, and got to sketching. Today I have a finished product to share! The Scouts looked really good during their time, and I'd be perfectly fine if a resurrected Scouts franchise skated out of the gate wearing those exact get-ups. I wanted to challenge myself, however, and went the way of the Winnipeg Jets with a built-from-scratch identity. This identity revolves around a war-painted horse with feathers attached to the mane as the primary mark. The alternate marks are inspired by painted hand prints that warriors would place on their horses for both accomplished missions and an oath of vengeance. The original logo is also used as the primary crest of an alternate third fauxback, which is a red, navy, and gold version of the original sweaters. Let me know what you think! C&C is appreciated, you know the drill!
  9. Saskatchewan Whitetails

Hey everyone, so recently there was a competition held by the youtube channel Post2Post and the challenge was to create logos for a new NHL expansion team from a somewhat reasonable expansion location. I chose Saskatoon as my location but the team will be named Saskatchewan to try and gain fans from across the area much like the Roughriders. The team is called the Whitetails for the animal of Saskatchewan and the team colors are kelly and forest green with white. With the colors of the Roughriders, University of Saskatchewan, and the Provence of Saskatchewan all having green I decided to use it, along with the fact no team in north american pro sports uses 2 shades of green as their colors so it'd be unique, not another black and red or red white and blue team. The Whitetails main logo is a fierce deer head facing forward to a bright future. There are also two secondary logos, one is the same deer head but with a 'S' in the left side for Saskatchewan, this would be used on the breezers and merchandise mainly. The second is a circle with a 'S' sticking out the top slightly and wheat to its sides, this logo is a modernization of an old Saskatchewan Roughriders logo. Wheat is a big part of this teams identity and it is seen on one logo, the team word mark, and their third jersey. This submission got second place in the competition, let me know what you think!
  10. Welcome to my new series, the New Look NHL! In this series, My goal is to give each NHL team a new look (compared to what they unveiled with Adidas) based on many things, such as one-off jerseys, the team's mascot in real life, or just ideas that come into my head. This is not a tweaking series or an Ideal look series. Some jerseys in this series could be on a 90's level of craziness, and others a simple, timeless look. Due to my lack of logo-making skills, I will be using some teams' primary or alternate logos, or I might mashup some of a teams' logos. Teams: Anaheim Ducks Arizona Coyotes Boston Bruins Buffalo Sabres Calgary Flames Carolina Hurricanes Chicago Blackhawks (Rainbowhawks) Colorado Avalanche Columbus Blue Jackets Dallas Stars Detroit Red Wings Edmonton Oilers Florida Panthers Los Angeles Kings Minnesota Wild Montreal Canadiens Nashville Predators New Jersey Devils New York Islanders New York Rangers Ottawa Senators Philadelphia Flyers Pittsburgh Penguins San Jose Sharks St. Louis Blues Tampa Bay Lightning Toronto Maple Leafs Vancouver Canucks Vegas Golden Knights Washington Capitals Winnipeg Jets Let's kick this off! I always thought that the Ducks were a green/jade team, so I used Jade as the base colour for the set. The striping isn't exactly 'new' but think it'll pass. The stripes are not slanted, and feature three stripes and then a cuff the colour of the middle stripe. This pattern is also used on the hem and socks. I used a rounded font for the numbers and names to tie it all together. The equipment is purple aside from the helmets. C&C is appreciated! I am not doing this is any particular order, so if you want to see a certain team done, or a set done in a certain way, feel free to post any idea you have.
  11. Decided to give a redesign to all of the NHL uniforms, some to a greater extent than others. I used the current adidas format for everything. I started off by redesigning the Atlantic Division first (H=Home, A=Away, P=pants): BOSTON BRUINS H: New chest logo featuring the B as a more prominent yellow than the black they've used. I also removed the shoulder yoke to invoke the more classic Bruins designs of the past. Finally, the socks are now mainly yellow with a black and white stripe to match that of the sleeves. A: The uniform design stays mostly in tact, with exception to the new chest logo. The shoulder yoke better fills out the sweater on this design than the home uniform. P: The belt is now yellow and the new logo is added to the right side of the pant. BUFFALO SABRES H: The blue has been lightened and the silver has been removed almost entirely. The uniform style remains the same overall, but the weird front number is removed as well. A: Holds the same uniform design as the new adidas away jersey, simply with the lighter colors added. P: A new yellow belt is added and the pants' blue is matched to the home and road uniforms. DETROIT RED WINGS: H: No changes. I absolutely could not touch this timeless uniform in any way without making it worse. A: The sweater remains in tact, but the helmet is now red rather than white to invoke the "Red" in the Red Wings name. P: The stripe on the side is thinned to match the length on the uniforms. FLORIDA PANTHERS: H: The leaping panther logo returns to the front of the uniform in a much desired move. A: See "H". P: No changes for the pants, which really complement the uniforms. MONTREAL CANADIENS: H: No changes to what is a classic uniform. A: Major changes here though. The road uniform gets the home uniform's treatment. The "Habs" line goes on the road uniform now, while the logo colors are reversed to better contrast the line. The bottom stripe is also altered to better match the style of the home uniform. P: No changes. TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING: H: Black returns to the Lightning color scheme in the form of both the neck and the sleeves. The ends of the sleeves are now completely black, giving the team a much more notable look. Black is also added to the sock design as well. A: All of the blue on this set is outlined with black to add the color to the other part of the uniform scheme. P: The Lightning stripe on the side now features a black outline. The belt color has also been changed to black. TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS: H: The classic sweater remains in tact. The new socks bring back the three stripes commonly used on the Maple Leafs uniform set. A: See "H" P: No changes here. Up Next: Metro Division, where there will be a lot more changes...
  12. I searched through threads for the past year and couldn't find anything like this, so I figured I would post it. The idea behind this thread is to post interesting facts or statistics that a lot of people don't know. It'll essentially be the answers to trivia questions. I've got two interesting ones to start this thread off. The Minnesota Vikings were the first team to kick an extra point from the 15-yard line. Tom Brady has played two games at University of Phoenix Stadium, but he has never played the Cardinals there. The Pats have played two Super Bowls there, but only played the Cardinals at home since the stadium was built.
  13. Hello. I am an animator and video editor and I have been working on and off on a logo redesign project for the better part of a year now (with long stretches of inactivity) as a way to get better at illustrator and I thought I would make an account here for some critique. I started really getting in to logo design when I came across a black and white and horribly pixelated design for a Fleur De Lis that I thought could be made into a St. Louis Blues logo, and after contacting the owner of the shop and asking about it and if I could mess with it, I did. I didn't really think it worked well as a main logo, but I did think it worked as a shoulder patch. I did it in a couple other colors as well and took the wordmark from the actual St. Louis Blues sheet music after an idea from the kind folks on the Blues subreddit. Over a year later I thought I decided I needed to get better at illustrator so I started designing alternate/shoulder logos for the rest of the league. I'm "done" with about 1/4 of the league at this point. Please let me know what you think and I would love to hear suggestions on what I need to improve on, but keep in mind I dont really know what I am doing. Also, if there is a better way to format this let me know. St. Louis Original: Wordmark: Colors: Revision: I did Minnesota next, where I thought a roundel logo would look cool. I did two variants of the same logo and one that was a riff on their main logo. 1: 2: 3: Colorado This one I actually think could stand up as a main logo. I got rid of their ugly "Millennium swoops' Winnipeg Classic colors: Modern Colors: Toronto: based on the city of Toronto's flag Ottowa: I wanted to play off their older logo that everyone loves so much without just making it an exact copy Revision: Buffalo: I took the crossed swords from their red logo days and put them behind the skull I drew. Penguins: I replaced the iconic triangle with a Pennsylvania keystone. Hopefully that doesn't make me a heretic. Revision: I put the penguin in a complete keystone and I like it, but I still think the half keystone looks better. Lightning: Honestly something's missing from this one, but everything I add makes it look worse so I decided to ask you all what you think. the L works pretty good but it seems empty. Again, these aren't really meant to replace the logo front of the jersey, most are meant to be shoulder patches, but this one feels empty. Wordmark: I thought trying to make it a wordmark would work a little bit better, and it does in some aspects, but it feels really empty still. Canadiens: I took the Fleur from the Montreal flag and tried to turn it in to an "M"which I think works pretty well, but I do think it needs some more polishing. I don't really like this better than their current logo but I think something like it could work as a shoulder patch 1: 2: Stars: I took their old star logo and updated the colors and added a recolored Texas flag. Then I removed the wordmark and had the star go through the middle of a D in the same style as the other letters 1: 2: After a bit of a hiatus, I am back. I took the Spirit of Detroit and added wings to it. I am not sure if I want to add something in his hands but I am pretty proud of this logo I have had this Preds logo in my back pocket for a little while now, its super simple and is kind of a combination of their shoulder patch and chest logo. I plan on doing another one for the Preds as well but I thought I'd post this one just to get an idea of what you guys think
  14. So this is one of a couple concept ideas I've had in my head. We're always talking about Original 6 Dress up and that got reignited when Florida redid their uniforms which bear a resemblance to Montreal's so it made me wonder, what would the league look like if every team had a chest stripe like the Habs. It's a fairly simple idea, and each team will have something unique about them. It won't be just a Montreal jersey template in Vegas colors. For the moment I have no plans on doing alternates for the teams, but I plan on doing the special event games and the all star tournament, but we'll see how this goes and I might throw in alternates. I also wanted to do these on an Adidas template, but I didn't have it ready in time, so I used the closest Reebok collar I had to the Adidas ones and rolled from there. I'm going from bottom to top based on final regular season standings, so if you want to see how this will go, go here (https://www.nhl.com/standings) and you can follow along. With that being said, I have the first two teams ready, Colorado and Vancouver. For the Avalanche, I tried to make a mountain-style chest stripe but it didn't work out how I wanted it to so I used the old alternates as inspiration for a stripe and then added the mountain pattern on the bottom hem I ditched the Orca for the Canucks, using the stick in the rink, and the Johnny + V logo. Used the stripes from the alternate, which is consistent throughout to the pants and the socks. Kept the one color numbers. C&C welcome on these two
  15. NHL Team 32?

Decided to give Houston the 32nd team out of the fact they would be in the Central Division, also thought it would be fun. The team would be called the Aeros and the logo i made off of an Air Force badge (lots of connections lately in the NHL and military). But with that being said I ended up with this and I would imagine I will do different versions. Might attempt other expansion options aswell, such as Seattle, KC, and a personal favorite Milwaukee. This is also my first logo I've made.
  16. https://www.behance.net/gallery/55944215/Vampirii-din-Brasov Originally a bid formed for a fictional hockey league on an old forum with /u/ColeJ. "The Vampires from Brasov" | "We reign at night."
  17. New Series - Redoing the NHL

I'm starting a new series where I am going to redo the home & away sets for every single team. Starting from the top, here are the Ducks.
  18. The recent Adidas reveal inspired me to start up a new series. Its been some time since I last did a concept. So, knocking off some ring rust in the first few. Edmonton Oilers Promoted the previous third while making some minor changes. Kept the current colors. Added third that is something I can see the team bringing in the near future.
  19. DT Concepts' 2018 Winter Classic

Here's what I came up with for the upcoming Winter Classic.
  20. NY Rangers Logo Revamp

Hey y'all, Decided to try and revamp the New York Rangers' classic logo. Currently, their logo set is a bit cluttered, taking on multiple fonts and styles mixed from both the 90s and the 40s-60s. Some quick descriptions: Color: Held constant from current logo set 1. Primary: Keeping the same general shield style as the current logo, although there are two major changes. The first change being a font shift back to an adjusted form of the 1940s-60s font that the Rangers used. The second change is the "Rangers" now reads step-style, rather than simply diagonally. 2. Lady Liberty Alternate Returns: Due to the seemingly universal demand for the return of the lady liberty alternate logo used until the late 2000s, I brought it back, adjusted and improved in multiple ways. The first change is the colors are updated to reflect the same colors in the scheme currently used. The second change is the new font, which same style as the one used in the primary. The third, although minor, is the adjusted shield, which now has rounded curves near the bottom, whereas the older version had sharp diagonal sides. The fourth change is the addition of the four stars, representing the four Stanley Cups the Rangers have won. 3. NY Pride Secondary/partial: Finally, I wanted a simpler logo that could effectively be used on alternate merchandise, rather than the more complex Lady Liberty. It involves the same font as the primary and alternate, featuring a silhouetted Rangers shield. It is in similar style to the Rangers proposed Winter Classic logo, while being a tad more modern. Lemme know what y'all think and if you have any suggestions, please tell me.
  21. Buffalo Sabres Winter Classic Concept

Here's a quick concept I put together for the Sabres. Based off of the Buffalo Bisons of the IHL (circa 1932). C&C appreciated!
  22. ANAHEIM DUCKS ORANGE JERSEY

Just a concept i made in an hour
  23. I always come across cool sports memorabilia and never know where to post it, so I figured this topic deserves its own thread! Post any unique sports memorabilia you find, whether it is online or from your own personal collection! This item is up on eBay and I found it super interesting... a team-issued jersey, custom-made for Angie Harmon, the now-ex-wife of Jason Sehorn: Probably a gift from the team after this awesome TV moment:
  24. Scrubs in Stars' Jerseys

Simply put ... the thread is of scrubs (or lesser caliber players) in jersey numbers a same team where an All-Star or HOF made that same number their own. Here are a few examples from the NBA ... E.C. Coleman, New Orleans Jazz Sidney Green; San Antonio Spurs Steve Kuberski; Boston Celtics Cazzie Russell; Los Angeles Lakers Rowland Garrett; Chicago Bulls.
  25. WELCOME TO THE FANTASY HOCKEY LEAGUE! I created the fantasy hockey league in March of 2017 and orginally is a league with 16 team members divided into the Eastern and Western Conferences. Both Conferences have 8 teams and two divisons of 4 each. Each team plays another from the other conference and other divison twice (once home and once away), and plays the members in their own division four times (twice home and twice away) for a grand total of 36 games. At the end of a season, the top two in each division will enter the Fantasy Hockey Championship Playoffs. The 8 teams that make the FHCP will play their divison rival in a best of 7 series and continue until two teams meet in the Fantasy Hockey League Championship. Team names and divison pairings will come closly but feel free to help me with designing logos and jerseys! Expanison will come and most importantly enjoy!
