  1. A hockey league for noobs, in NHL 18

This is a league for noobs, bad pictures are inevitable, enjoy. First Concept: Albuquerque Phoenix
  2. Hey everyone, It’s been quite awhile since I’ve posted on these boards, largely in part because life has a way of getting in the way, but I’ve been quietly lurking. Some of you have probably seen me active on Dribbble and Instagram, and probably know that I’ve been working on my personal football league redesign, a thread that I received a lot of positive feedback on in 2011. Yes, I’m resurrecting it (although it wasn’t really dead in the first place). As we’re learning and developing our skills as designers, we tend to become better than the work we produce yesterday. I've been working on developing identities for each team on and off for the past 6 years. That being said, I’m excited to bring to you “The UFL Project”, a 2.0 if you will, a reimagining of 32 fictional football teams I created when I was 11. Named the “Ultimate Football League”, my goal for this project is to bring the brand to life through visuals, custom logos and typefaces, and to make each individual team a brand of their own. I have been running the Ultimate Football League for the past 25 seasons (which equates to about 10-ish years), with complete rosters and histories. I’ve ran the league through the Franchise Modes of Madden 06, 09, and now 12. Feedback is always appreciated, but I’m not looking for critiques of league alignment, storylines, etc. Most of these decisions are based off of the history of the league and the original teams 32 that I started with. I have a lot that I’m excited to share, but for now, here’s the league logo. EDIT: If anyone knows of a solution for the quality loss in the embedded image, let me know! RATIONALE Think of the UFL as this alternate-universe football league that takes the place of the NFL in the football world. Other popular leagues still exist, but the entire football lineage from the NCAA to the pros has been completely redirected towards the Ultimate Football League. Major entities like Nike and ESPN are very much alive, while some smaller companies that may hold sponsorships and naming rights are completely fictional to fit with the storyline and lineage of the league and its owners. The timeline of the league is also based on seasons, not years, due to the fact that multiple seasons may be simulated within a year. However, based on the 25 seasons to the date, we can infer that this league started somewhere between 1991-92. Currently, the league is simulated in the Madden 12 Franchise Mode (previously Madden 08, 09), which means it isn’t uncommon for ridiculous scores and stats to pop up (CPU users don’t tend to show sportsmanship in blowout games). It also ins’t uncommon for dynasties to win 4 championships in a row, or appear in 8 consecutively. When instances like these happen, I try and incorporate it into the storyline as much as possible. It’s more fun that way. STORYLINE The Ultimate Football League is an American football league made up of 32 teams spread out across the United States. The league is split up into two conferences – The Great West conference and The Great East conference – and each conference has four division of four teams each. The regular season is 17 weeks long, with 16 games and a bye week, and is concluded with a tournament-style playoff structure in which the four division winners and two wildcard teams in each conference play in a single-elimination game format, with the final two teams playing in the UFL Championship. The team with the most UFL Championship wins is the Chicago Dragons (11), and the most recent champion is the Los Angeles Aztecs, defeating the Cincinnati Vultures 30-7 in UFL Championship 24. There are still 13 teams that have yet to reach the championship.
  3. TCU Horned Frog

TCU has a few vintage logos, but I thought I'd take elements from them and create a neo-vintage one:

  5. NBA teams are taking a minimalist approach on new logo designs. Therefore, I wanted to re-design the primary logo for the San Antonio Spurs! I mainly wanted to simply the iconic spur by blending the stem with the star. I also wanted to personalize the backdrop badge to represent the city by incorporating the Alamo. i'd love to get your feedback! Go Spurs Go!
  6. Stags Inline Hockey logo

Hey Guys! It's been awhile but I'm back with an inline hockey logo! I took the Hershey Bears logo as inspiration mainly because of how mean and intimidating the logo looked. I chose a "Deer" because where the team is located in Northeast Pennsylvania, there is an abundance of white-tailed deer. Of course, I had to use black and gold because...well, i just really like those colors for a hockey team! (Go Pens!) Hope you guys like this one! C&C Welcome!
  7. [HAND DRAWN] Fictional Sports League

This is the National Zoneball League. Zoneball is a very simple game. It is a mixture of Rugby, Soccer, American Football and Australian Rules Football to a certain extent. The game is played in 45 minute halves, then the teams switch sides. There is only one objective to this game and that is to get the ball through the goal posts. There are no fouls. Literally anything goes. The only time there is a stoppage of play is when the ball goes out of bounds. Why Zoneball? There are 8 zones on each side of the field. Each one being worth a different point amount. The front middle zones are worth 2 points, the front end zones are worth 3 points. The back middle zones are worth 5 points and the back end zones are worth 7 points. If you kick it or throw it threw the goal posts from that zone then your team gets that many points. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. The neutral zone at mid field is where the two teams battle for the ball. Since you can not score unless you advance the ball past the neutral zone to the opposing zones, the battle in the neutral zone is an integral part of the game. Once again to reiterate, You can only score once you're team is in the opposing zones, the only stoppage of play is when the ball goes out of bounds, giving the other team a throw in. Each point value is determined by where you score, it doesn't matter how you score, just where you score from. There are no fouls. Anything goes. So far, The National Zoneball league is comprised of 4 associations: United States Association, United Kingdom Association, Canadian Association and Oceanian Association. Each Association has its own season, playoffs and champion. The champion of each association will then join together in a 4 team bracket to determine who is the true champion of the game. 8. Scrubs in Stars' Jerseys

Simply put ... the thread is of scrubs (or lesser caliber players) in jersey numbers a same team where an All-Star or HOF made that same number their own. Here are a few examples from the NBA ... E.C. Coleman, New Orleans Jazz Sidney Green; San Antonio Spurs Steve Kuberski; Boston Celtics Cazzie Russell; Los Angeles Lakers Rowland Garrett; Chicago Bulls.

  10. I wasn't sure where to put all of these, so I figured I'd start a new thread of small little finds I found while browsing the 'net -- and specifically, right now -- Getty Images. Most of these are small oddities, difficult finds and what not. I was going to open this up to stuff I found in other sports, but basketball and NBA history in the 70s and 80s has recently captured my attention. Anyways ... some of my finds: GORGEOUS Color vs. Color in Baltimore against the Bullets and Warriors (also note it's Ladies Night!) Royals vs. Warriors game in Phoenix's Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The caption says it was a 1967 pre-season game. Note Rick Barry in the old-style Warriors' jersey. He never wore these in the regular season as 'The City' jerseys were introduced on Opening Night 1967. Larry Nance wearing #6 in the half season right after he was traded to Cleveland from Phoenix. Similarly, Kevin Johnson wore #11 in Phoenix for the half season after he was traded from Cleveland to Phoenix. Interesting font and styling of Tom McMillen's name on this Hawks' jersey. Not sure why the underline? Notice the name on the back of Dave Stallworth of the Bullets. The name was pretty long so the "st" of Stallworth is white to not clash with the blue stripe.
  11. Here is a logo concept for the Montana Grizzlies. A bear is another mascot that every designer should try to draw up. I took inspiration from their current bear's face and smoothed it out some. Rendered it in their current Maroon/Silver and the vintage Gold/Copper.
  12. Wildcat Logo Concept

Every self-respecting sports logo artist should have a wildcat in their stock folder (also, bulldog, eagle, tiger, etc). Its a very common mascot and therefore difficult to create in a unique way. This concept is basically a Northwestern Wildcat. but the design would meld easily into any wildcat brand. The only feature that I'm unsure of is which "light area" color works best (white, light purple, lighter purple). White Light Purple Lighter Purple White with Light Purple Border I kinda feel like the white is too harsh and the light purple blends too much, so I'm leaning towards the lighter purple.
  13. Best NBA Uniforms

What uniforms do you think are each NBA team's best look? Here are mine ...
  14. Worst NBA Uniforms

What do you think are the worst uniforms for each NBA team? Here are my choices ...
  15. Once again; this would not end up being used by the school. They have tooooo much invested in Herbie looking guys. But I tried to think of some mascots that fit the name, region, and aren't human. Because let's face it, it won't be long until all human mascots will offend someone. My 2 options here are: Raccoon- They are always raiding the corn fields, cribs, and silos. They are from the animal family Musteloidea so they fit in the BIG10. They have peopleish hands so to get to the corn they actually husk it. They are un-used in D1. Drawback- many farmers hate them. Scarecrow- They are associated with fields/corn fields. Human-ish so it's not as far of a move from Herbie. They are un-used in D1. They are often stuffed with corn husks. Drawback- seem to be either too creepy or too friendly. Here are the looks: Raccoon: Not sure about the eyes A B Scarecrow: Let me know what you think. If you think they should just have a Herbie, then explain why in a way that is not "because that's what they've always had".
  16. Indiana has had a bulldog, bison, and an ox as a mascot identity. Rather than fall in with one of the most populous mascots I chose to go with the ox (I've done a lot of bison work too) .
  17. Let me start by saying that this is NOT intended to replace the grinning Goldy. Also, I KNOW that the school would not replace the current Goldy with this one. After I did the Michigan Wolverine and Wisconsin Badger I thought I'd try to give a similar feel to the Minnesota Gophers. I used the 13 striped ground squirrel for reference; no it's not a gopher but judging by Goldy's tail it's what he is based off of and many people call the ground squirrel a gopher. I think it turned out to have a good balance of cute and fight. Comment with your thoughts.
  18. Sports has been a part of my life since the beginning. One of my biggest interests in design is sports identities. When I was young I was often drawing a team logo, colouring in a jersey or creating my own versions. In mid–2016 I took on a 70 day challenge for a project I was doing in school. I knew this would be tough to handle so I decided the make it more suitable to my interest. The goal of this challenge was to redesign an existing sports logo every day for 70 days. Each logo redesign involved preliminary research about the team/city, sketching out all my ideas on paper, executing a digital version through Illustrator. I ended up creating a booklet with small rationales for my thinking, design choices and overall thoughts on the project. Sportslogos.net was a place I went to every day to discover new teams to redesign.
  19. Falcons Concept Logo

Before I'm away for the weekend, I thought I'd leave you with this new design and a few thoughts. I was recently inspired to draw-up a falcon image and while working it out I chose to think metacognitively about my process. What follows are a list of some of the thoughts that were........thunk. 1. Lets see what a falcon looks like Search for falcon images 2. Falcons have big eyes and a small beak compared to eagles and hawks, that's a distiguishing feature Draw out the shape of a basic falcon head 3. An angled pose would be most dynamic Search falcon in stoop or stooping falcon stooping is a funny word Add more slant to composition 4. They almost have an innocent look to them 5. Try to keep some of the innocent look 6. I wanna keep that ring around the eye, that's a distiguishing feature 7. Since the eye doesn't have much anger, what makes them scary? They are FAST..... lightning shapes They have a black colored eye... no yellow in the eye itself like hawks and eagles, that's a distiguishing feature Search falcon screeching 8. Erase closed beak, draw in open mouth 9. Keep dark portion of beak, that's a distiguishing feature 10. Work in the dark shape in the feather colors on the face 11. Huh, that doesn't look half bad References used:
  20. Here we go again..... It's been awhile since I dabbled with the Thunder's look. I'm starting off slow this time with a concept board. It shows several different configurations of bison/cloud looks. The key ideas/thoughts/buzz words here are; power - maleficent - foreboding. Let me know what you think.
  21. I am trying to create a solid brand for my High School, Catalina Foothills to propose to the AD. I have emailed him, and he told me in person that it is on his radar for sure. So far I have gotten a basic idea which was hand drawn, and then I digitalized what would be the secondary mark which is the CF monogram. Down the line I hope to create a solid Falcon logo, as pur current one is very outdated! Colors: Royal, Silver, White, Black (sometimes). The black in the case looks much better for right now. (I may go a different route with the "font style" but for now this is it. Current Logo:
  22. Teams in the WRONG uniform

We have players in the wrong uniform -- and teams in the wrong stadium. So, why not a teams in the wrong uniform thread? I'll start off with a few obvious ones ... (pretty much any Turn Ahead The Clock Jersey to be honest) What would you add to this list?
  23. Hi, Happy new year to y'all , I don't know if I post my thread on the right place. I really like the graphic posters, since I've seen some I wanted to try to do one! after practicing for days and few tutorials I come to u guys with this..... Tell me what u think about it French lad!

Insomnia Sports Logo Design Hello everyone! Derrick here from DaseDesigns.com back with another Sports Logo ! This was a recent logo design project for an eSports team that wanted a much needed update to their previous mascot! They felt their logo was far too rough, unattractive and unclear and needed a more professional approach. They were needing something more clean, concise and simple while still closely relating to their previous owl mascot. This was the Goal for our project and here is the Solution! We hope you all enjoy.. If you'd like to see more, check us out on Social Media: Facebook Mock-Up Templates provided by: Yellow Images
  25. My High School Logo Re-Design

Hey Guys! I wanted to get feedback from you guys about the logo I did for my High School Alma Mater. The Original Logo used is actually the "S" from the White Sox Logo, so I thought the school could use a refresh. C&C is appreciated:
