  1. NHL Outdoor Games Ideas

This is Where I will post my concepts for potential Outdoor Games that I think the NHL should consider, and will even write mini proposals We start off with a crazy idea I has for a Florida outdoor game, a stadium series probably. First off, it would take place in Raymond James Stadium (the Bucs home), which in the winter can go down to as low as 40 F, perfect to sustain ice for a perfect amount of time. With some nice planning, this would not be much of a hassle. As to why to do this you ask? These two teams are very unknown and do not have any attention going to them. A NBCSN game and outdoor game in Florida would attract much press attention. Also although I do not agree with most southern market NHL teams, I feel that Tampa Bay has a very passionate fan base and does deserve this. Now for the aesthetics of it, the Florida Panthers whole theming would be around the sun and heat, as they do represent most of Florida and many of their logos do indeed. For this I made the Panthers uniforms have the rays of the sun on the bottom stripe as well as more red and yellow then usual. The Lightnings uniform have the grey color of storm clouds, using all 4 of their colors rather then just 2. For the actual presentation of the arena the arena would be set up with palm trees all around the outskirts similar Minnesota's pine tree display. There would be a small picture above the arena of a sun facing off against a storm, pushing against one another. This would be between the logos. When the Bolts come out lightning coils will activate as they walk in. When the Panthers walk in fire will erupt followed by gold-ish smoke. Worst case scenario it all melts. Also I feel its only appropriate to have both team goal horns go off. Any Ideas for the next one?
  2. As much as I love the new Bolts logo and uniforms, when they're placed next to the Maple Leafs it REALLY drives home how similar the two are. While some clamored for the old set I honestly didn't like the striping and I prefer Tampa Bay as a blue base team as opposed to a black base. Nevertheless, black and silver need to comeback to distinguish the Bolts from the Leafs and so here we are One of my biggest pain points with the old set is that too much black weighed down the uniform. This is alleviated by keeping the black to a minimum secondary and brightening the blue. (It's for this reason there are sleeves on the road whites but not on the home blues. The primary logo stays almost the exact same as far as proportion but you can see the how the brighter blue pops allowing the use of black without added weight. The existing wordmarks would carry over just with the new blue used. So Tampa Bay...ready to stop looking like you're in Ontario?
  3. Tampa Bay Lightning Logo Concept

Trying to play with something I always thought would work for the Bolts. I like the secondary they have now, but I just thought this could be a tertiary, or if they ever make the secondary the primary. I tried to do my own bevel...but I kinda got stuck. So I'm providing two examples, one with the unfinished bevel and one without. Its still a work in progress. Let me know what you think, any advice, changes that need to be made. Thanks.
  4. NHL Crazy Outdoor Game

This may sound crazy, however Florida would make a great place for an outdoor game, probably a stadium series game. The perfect place would be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stadium (Raymond James Stadium). Tampa Bay can reach the temperature of nearly 32 F, a perfect temperature and can sustain ice long enough. This would be perfect for these two Florida teams, shedding much press attention on what would have otherwise been a fairly unnoticed event by them. The jersey were based off the old Tampa jerseys mashed together and were meant for Tampa only, however the Panthers looked too good in them to pass by. Generally the theme besides storm vs sun is retro jerseys. The arena would be set up with palm trees all around the outskirts similar Minnesota's pine tree display. There would be a small picture above the arena of a sun facing off against a storm, pushing against one another. This would be between the logos. When the Bolts come out lightning coils will activate as they walk in. When the Panthers walk in fire will erupt followed by gold-ish smoke. Worst case scenario it all melts .
  5. Not an unpopular opinion... I hate the current uniforms worn by Tampa Bay. Another not unpopular opinion... I feel the uniforms the Bucs wore from 97 to 13 were nearly perfect, and they were stupid to move away from them, especially for the nightmare they ended up with. However, as easy as it is to say "just switch back", I don't really think that's all that feasible. There are a number of reasons why it isn't really done, primarily IMO because it would just feel like an admission that the change was a huge mistake. It was, obviously, but I don't think a franchise would be willing to swallow their pride enough to simple own up to it. Most of the examples that come to mind of a team doing an about face to a "classic" look are like the Giants, the Jets... uniforms that are truly classic in the 40 to 50 year sense. To quickly switch away from a modern uniform to a fairly recent, almost as modern uniform seems unlikely. From a marketing standpoint, I'd think it would be easier for them to sell a return of the creamsicles, as a "classic return"... which I don't believe they'd be willing to do either. However... While thinking about it, another model came to mind... that being the 2009 San Francisco 49ers. In '96, they went with their modern update, which was well received at first, but aged very poorly. The darkened red, multiple logo placements, and unnecessary black accents were very "90's" and, especially since it replaced a beloved classic, it wasn't surprising to see the 9ers move back. But they didn't move back completely... The new uniform, as much as it's thought of as a return of the old, is actually a modern update of the old that owes a bit to the 90'd look as well. It's simplified, and the 90's logo, which is in the forefront of team marketing, is held over. In that vein, here's something similar for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Take the uniform everyone loves so much... ... add a few elements from the current uniform (logos, brighter red) Put it on a more modern template (which eliminates the black collar and cuffs), go with a seemingly more classic but still unique font... And I got this; Full disclosure, I actually prefer the older logos, both on the helmet and on the sleeves, but again, my thought was a way to return to a better look without fully abandoning the new one. Thoughts?
  6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers fix

I took a break from my main series, MLB Organizational Tweaks, create a quick concept for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They currently have some problems with their set that I wanted to address. First off their number font is horrendous, so I used a modified block font similar to their super bowl winning look. I also lightened the shade of pewter because their darker shade is really drab and doesn't mix well with their bright red and orange. Their is only one logo used for the shoulder patch to remain consistent. Also the buccaneers wordmark is added above the front numbers. C&C is appreciated.

  8. Los Rayos de Havana

With the US opening trade with Cuba could the team with the MLB's lowest attendance be moving south?

  10. 2016 / Arizona 2017 / Tampa Bay 2018 / Atlanta 2019 / San Francisco Bay Area ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ORIGINAL POST My first post of 2016 will be something I've been thinking about for a while. Like the old Super Bowl logos, I wanted to make location-specific logos for the College Football Playoff National Championship games. I want to create a template (like the Final Four) where each logo features one constant item, but they all still have elements related to the city in which the game is being played. I've started with a rough draft for this year's game in Glendale. You can kinda see where I'm going with this. (p.s., if anyone knows any fonts that would work well with Arizona, let me know) Rough Draft:
  11. Man, 200 posts. Where has time gone. I've been through 5 months on these boards and averaged 40 posts a month, and that's 1 1/3 posts per day (wait a minute, why am I doing math over summer break?), and i've learned one thing. Nobody makes solid work every time. Even me, though I do like to think so . Anyway, back to the concept. I've seen many people comment on here that my team, the Rays should relocate and they suck and it kills me seeing it every time. But, i've learned to accept the fact that it's true and they will eventually either have to get a new stadium or relocate. So as a little tribute to the Rays, here is my 200th post. I might turn this into an MLB series if it is well received. But in the meantime, let's talk about the series. 1. Each team will be getting a complete rebrand, no matter what (yes, you too, Yankees, Dodgers, Red Sox and Cubs) 2. Each team will have a Home, Road and Alternate (sorry, Marlins) 3. Each team is limited to at most 2 caps (once again, sorry, Marlins) 4. And last, but not least, each team MUST have at least one promotional jersey, they will come when the full series is over. So here are the Rays, CHANGES: -Adopted a mix of past and present colors -Shortened name to Tampa Rays -Took on a whole new font, UA University -Home and Road are NOT vests, they just have colored sleeves Thanks for reading!, ECUFan25
  12. Tampa Bay Lightning Concept

Hey all. I've been browsing the forums for quite a while, but I haven't posted any concepts until now. While I do have a plan for a larger series of concepts in the works, I figured that it'd be beneficial for me to sort of get my feet wet, so to speak. With all that out of the way, allow me get to the concept itself. The Tampa Bay Lightning are interesting case to be certain. They've had all of two identities in their short tenure in the NHL. Most people on here aren't huge fans of their current look, calling it a cross between the Maple Leafs and Red Wings. With all the negativity, I thought to myself, "Why haven't more people taken a crack at making a new Lightning identity?" I quickly found out the answer to this question - it ain't easy to do. I myself think that their current look is decent, but it could certainly be improved. However, I'm not a big fan of their past look either, so that's out of the question as well. So, what I did was a pseudo-combination of the two identities with some extra touches here and there. What's in from the old set? Mostly the colors. Hawaiian blue is back, and black is too - well, somewhat. I substituted the black with a very dark navy color (I haven't thought of a "name" for it yet but I'll look further into it). What's in from the new look? The shape of the crest mostly. I originally tried to make something that was a bit of a cross between the current logo and what the Canes use currently, but that didn't go over so well. So I took inspiration from the current shoulder patch and modeled it closer to that. And what's new? Plenty. For starters, a new lightning bolt takes center stage, more simplified than the other ones. I took a little inspiration from the Flash logo (this one) and the Screw Attack (see here). Also added is a new color, electric blue. This would be used as a highlight color only, as I don't think you'd want to see a team go out on the ice in that color. My thought process was that if you have a team named the Lightning, you should have a little something that pops, and electric blue looked good in my head. It's worth noting that the colors were the first thing I came up with for this concept. Beyond that, there's not much to say. I put it in a roundel and gave it colors. If anything, this is more of an independent idea than a combination of eras. I do plan on tweaking this many more times in the following couple days (though not this weekend, as my family will be visiting), as it is still very much a work in progress. That being said, I would LOVE to get your thoughts on this. Good? Bad? Step in the right/wrong direction? Marketing name for the dark navy? Please, fire away. One thing that I do want to know is the official Pantone color for the Hawaiian blue, but I plan on contacting Colorwerx about that one sometime soon. If you know by chance, let me know and I'll adjust it. As of now, I'm not sure if I'm going to create all the bells and whistles for this yet - alternate logos, uniforms, marketing shenanigans, et al. I do have some ideas for an alternate logo that would most likely be the shoulder patch, but that's a ways down the road. Just post some C&C and I will absolutely listen to all of it and take it into consideration. Thanks for taking a look!
  13. HJC is holding a Stadium Series themed competition right now where entrants are to design uniforms for a hypothetical Stadium Series game. I chose Washington and Tampa Bay as it would be an interesting game. Star power between Ovechkin and Stamkos, and the two teams don't always get along. They've had some heated playoff series in the past so I believe both fanbases could get behind this. Plus it introduces a new team to the outdoor scene. All we have to create uniforms so all I'll be doing is adding the pants, helmets, etc. I won't be getting as in depth as some will. (Stadiums, Patches, Bleh, etc.) I may just use this years SS patch without a number as a placeholder. However, I imagine that the game would take place in DC, probably FedEx Field where the Redskins play as I'm not sure Florida can get or consistently stay cold enough to host an outdoor game. Raysox tells me it had been in the 40's that past week or so in Florida, but I feel like that was a fluke and he's a liar. The set on the left, the way I see it, is a combo between 1) Arm length yoke with enlarged arm striping and 2) Vertical hem striping playing off of the yoke. The set on the right features a large vertical stripe going down the torso. I also created a new collar for these jerseys. It's basically an Edmonton style collar but more square
  14. So, my NHL series is winding down and I'll be starting a college football thread along with this one, but this ones about the NFL and fixing the issues that some teams have with their looks. But first I must establish a few rules about this, seeing as this does deal with the No Fun League 1. Teams can have more than one helmet but no more than 3 (throwbacks not included in the rule) 2. The sock w/white rule is now optional, meaning some teams can wear it, but all teams aren't forced to 3. Teams can have 5 jerseys max (throwbacks not included) There probably should be a rule about Jacksonville's helmets... Anyway now that that is out of the way, Lets start this off So the Cardinals scream Reebok piping disaster. I think they should be a front runner for a Nike redesign next season. Anyways, even with the Nike updates, I think the Cards should be relatively uniform conservative team, which is why you don't see any chrome or half helmet gradients. I don't like how the red jerseys never had any striping while the white jerseys did, so the red jerseys have a striping pattern on them. The biggest thing, I think about the jerseys is the sublimated Arizona flag pattern on the shoulders. I used the pants style from the Oregon spring jerseys to also have the sublimated flag. The alternate jersey or Pro Combat of the set doesn't stray too much from the home and away, but is geared more as a "Pride" jersey, as the flag is on the chest, and kinda has a copper appearance to it, which fits Arizona. The pants are slightly different. Red and black socks and black and red shoes for all the sets and I gave them a red helmet to go along with the white. C and C this up
  15. Tampa Bay Lightning concept

I always loved the set the Lightning had from 1992 til 2007, even though it's not a popular opinion. I wanted to come up with something that kind of evoked it, but I wanted to add more silver...for a reason. The main gimmick of the new Tampa Bay Buccaneers uniforms is the apparent "reflective" number set. My idea is to have all the silver in the crests and numbers be made of this reflective material, so it would pop more on the ice. Especially when you shine a spotlight directly on the player after a goal perhaps. It would be the most appropriate team to try it out on. Here is my concept: . Comments welcome.
  16. Tampa Bay Lightning THIRD concept

Hey Guys! It's been a long time since i have posted something, so here is something that i worked on. There are rumors of Tampa Bay getting a third and this is my concept. I went with a simple design but definitely something modern. Hope you like this one! C&C Welcome!
  17. Tampa Rays Rebrand

This is a concept I've been working on rebranding the Tampa Bay Rays as the Tampa Rays. The reason behind the name change is that I've never been too big on naming a team after a body of water/region and I personally think Tampa Rays sounds better. Not too much to say about the logos/unis themselves, I was just really trying to step away from the generic identity the Rays currently use and design something that would be unique in the MLB. I'd love to get everyone's constructive criticism on the design.
  18. New Tampa Bay Rays Set

I like the Tampa Bay Rays fauxback uniforms and I decided to try and create a new logo around that idea. Dunno what else to say but ask what your thoughts are?
  19. New Rays Road Jersey

Hi, everybody. I was looking at the Rays' road uniform, and I was thought, "Why doesn't it say 'Tampa Bay' on it?" So, I created my own concept for a new road uniform. Everything is pretty much the same, except for the socks and the wordmark on the front. I would happily accept your thoughts on the concept, whether they be positive or negative.
  20. Tampa Bay Bucs Concept

With the announcement of the new logo/helmet/uniforms for the Bucs, I was put in the mood for making a concept for them. The helmets feature an oversized logo that has been simplified to an extent (the sword on the flag). Also, the shoulder design mimics a sword as well. Other than that, not a huge change design-wise. First, the Red/Pewter/Black version (click for larger image): Second, a Orange/Pewter/Black version. There was a discussion in Sports Logos about this scheme, and most agreed that orange and pewter don't work together. I agree, but it can work if done right. I never let the pewter and orange actually meet, and I think it turned out pretty well. C&C appreciated! I realize they all say Home Uniform, I can fix that in an update sometime.
