    NBA Redesign Concepts (Celtics 4/27)

As a Jazz fan who's not a huge fan of the current design (minus the City Edition jersey), I figured I would try my hand at redesigning the team. Changing the colors to dark purple, teal, and copper, the team resurrects a snowflake logo. The Association uniform is off-white, the Icon uniform purple, the Statement uniform teal, and the new City Edition uniform a gradient going from pewter blue to dark blue. C&C welcome!
  2. I've taken another long break from concepts, so consider this my return. I've decided on a redesign of the Pac-12. I've completed all 12 teams before I started this thread, and I will release one every four days. I am going in a completely random order. Here are the release dates: 9/29 (Today): Oregon 10/3: Arizona 10/7: Stanford 10/11: Cal 10/15: Arizona State 10/19: Washington State 10/23: UCLA 10/27: Washington 10/31: USC 11/4: Oregon State 11/8: Utah 11/12: Colorado Starting with Oregon. Oregon gets some consistency in this set I love the "O" on the helmet, so that returns full time. Only (only?) six helmets, six jerseys, and six pants. The Duck is on the sleeves, and the shoulders have a modified wing pattern. The shoulder wings are supposed to be reflective, like this Hit me up with C&C!

    NEW UTAH JAZZ SECONDARY LOGO

So there is a lot of speculation today about a few new NBA primary logos coming out. For the Utah Jazz, it is almost certain that they will simply move their "note" logo up to be the primary, get rid of the current "mountain" primary, and then create a new secondary logo. I took the liberty of designing what I thought was a neat concept. It plays off the geometry of the "note" logo and incorporates the U, J initials into the boxy state of Utah. It's very simple, but I think it goes well with what they have and the current direction of NBA logos in general. Let me know what you think!!

    Utah Jazz Concept

So there is talk of the Utah Jazz getting a new logo. With the roundel craze that is happening in the NBA I wouldn't be surprised if Utah went that route. Just look at their draft party logo. I thought what if they just cleaned this up and used it as the logo. So that's what I did. There is an option if they keep their current colors, revert to retro colors, or retro colors with Gray introduced. Let me know what you think and what I should change.

    A Frankenstein-ed Jazz Wordmark

I believe a general consensus exists on this forum that The Utah Jazz note wordmark is outdated and kind of clunky looking. To fix this, I did a sort of Frankenstein surgery on the Utah Jazz logos from years past in a sort of combination of eras. This is the Stockton/Malone era wordmark with the jagged spikes removed from the sides of the letters (their jaggedness did not match with the smoothness of the logo and the overall "smooth jazz" identity the name evokes. From there the classic j-note is added. So that's that. I would love some comments for encouragement and/or improvement
  6. UTAH - Spanish Fork High School (red, wearing Buckeye-style uniforms) is winning over Maple Mountain 14-11 with 0:03 seconds left on 4th down. With the defense still having a timeout to spare, their quarterback snaps it and casually rolls out to the side to burn the remaining 3 seconds. As time expires, however, he failed to either kneel or run out of bounds and the Maple Mountain defense strips the ball, running it back for a game-winning TD: Play starts @ 46:30 http://youtu.be/Sd8-Yhlos9E?t=46m30s [ARTICLE]: http://thebiglead.com/2014/10/29/uta...will-ever-see/

    NHL Super League

I've had this idea and these concepts sitting around for months (years, in some cases). There was a time when I was working on this project furiously, but I've been far too short on time recently to give it the attention it needed. But since so much of it has been completed for so long, I decided just to throw it out there, in large chunks. So here's the basic idea: A Super NHL, with 40 teams divided into two conferences of four divisions with five teams each. The divisions would be geographic in nature, with teams playing a "weighted" schedule: i.e. 6 games versus division opponents; 4 games versus the "paired" division opponents (Northeast and St. Lawrence, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, et c.); two games versus the "unpaired" division opponents in the same conference (St. Lawrence and Southeast, et c.); and one game versus opponents from two different non-conference divisions--at home versus one division and on the road versus the other--with the non-conference divisional matchups rotating each year. By my count, that makes for a 74-game regular season that emphasizes regionality and cuts down on travel costs. Obviously, there will be a few expansion teams. Two teams from each division would make the playoffs, with each round being a best-of-seven series. The first two rounds would keep the "paired" divisions together, seeding the four teams independently of division and allowing them to play out. The advancing two teams (i.e. the Northeast/St. Lawrence winner and the Mid-Atlantic/Southeast winner) would play for the Conference Championship, and the two conference champs would meet for the Stanley Cup. All right. So I'm just going to post these in alphabetical order, and I'll include a league map that I'll continually update. Almost all of the work is completed and has been for quite a while, but there are a few stragglers that I'll try my best to get finished in a timely matter. Basically, each team has had something altered in some way, no matter how small. Everyone gets a "third" jersey, but the Original Six teams get "heritage" jerseys to be worn only against other Original Six teams. Some of this work has been posted by me before, some has since been sold to other parties, and some of it is likely to be adapted from other peoples' work. In each case, I'll do my best to make appropriate citations for each, but since it's been so long, I may miss something. Please feel free to point out any misses on my part. Also, some of the players' names and numbers used have probably changed by now. Forgive me for not going back and updating everything! So here we go. The uniform template is based on the current (and fantastic) style at NHLuniforms.com, and I wouldn't have been able to create this series without the amazing resources there. I've done my best to create custom logos and type for each team, and I'll try to keep descriptions clear and (most importantly) brief. Here's the first map update, with the first five teams:

    Utah Utes Rebrand

I do a lot of work for the University of Utah. I've never really liked their logo so I decided to make a new one. What do you think?
