    Washington Capitals Concept

This was just a random Caps concept I made out of boredom, with 4 variations. I can't decide on a favorite, so I figured I'd put 'em all on the boards. Here they are! Copper and no Stars Copper and Stars No Copper, no Stars No Copper, with Stars There they are! Sorry if they're not the best quality, I rushed them a little bit. I'll touch it up once I can pick a favorite.
  2. The Kings miniseries went so well, I'm doing it again, this time with the Penguins! Like last time, I'm taking various styles the Pens have worn in their history, and sort of jumbling up which logos and colors are used, and also giving the Pens a suitable opponent and giving them similar treatment. Here's the itinerary: 60s Night: vs Rangers 70s Night: vs. Barons Blue Jackets 80s Night: vs Capitals 90s Night: vs Sabres 2K Night: vs Senators possible bonus nights: 90s Alt Night (TBD), Pittsburgh Hornets Night (likely vs. Flyers) So without further ado, 60s Night vs. the New York Rangers As is already known, what's old is new again as the Pens return to yellow gold...and here, the Pens' jersey uses the striping from the original set from 1966, only in the current colors. Took a little liberty by using shoulder crests at all...and now to the Broadway Blueshirts, whose set is red-heavy...because I felt like giving you something to complain about Seriously, though, picking a 60s opponent was tricky. I didn't want to dip into the opposite conference if I can help it, I don't want to use a given opponent more than once, and given these are for THIS season, the opponent kinda needs to be a current NHL team, albeit the history being dipped into doesn't necessarily need to be from the NHL (I'm leaning towards Blues and Stars series after this one, and I'm likely gonna dip into the WHA and a southern minor league or two). Far as the 60s go, the only Original 6 teams that look noticeably different from how they do now are the Leafs and Bruins, and not by a whole lot. Hell, I'm mildly surprised I was able to squeeze anything out of the Rangers, given how rarely they've strayed from their diagonal script. Later on, 70s Night vs. the Blue Jackets as the Barons...til then, speak on it.

    Rebranding the Washington Capitals

Hey folks! In this thread, I wanted to bring back one of the Capital's unused logos with a modern twist. The logo wasn't horrible, but I knew it could be better. I decided to change a lot of things... Secondary/alternate logos, jerseys, and much more coming soon. However, I'd like to hear an opinion from you guys about this logo before I do that, so C&C is much appreciated.
  4. There has been a lot of talk about the Capitals recently, especially involving the Weagle logo and promoting it. It seems so natural to put the stars above the logo, it kinda balances out the logo, and I decided to take the extra step and integrate the DC flag (at least on the white, it's the reverse on the red, which is also used in certain logos in downtown Washington). The shoulders are a hallmark of the original sweaters, and the rest is meant to be a mix of modern and traditional. C&C? DC flag: Reverse:

Lonely Alts: NHL & ECHL Edition

I had an idea...but only for a third. So here go the Coyotes I've pretty much hated the current coyote head since the day they introduced it. That it doesn't appear here at all is no skin off my back. Capitals I'd been wanting to make a Weagle concept for a while, but hadn't latched onto a half decent idea til now. The alternating stars from the old jerseys make a comeback on the sleeves. Oilers Back in the day, I'd posted some Oilers concepts centered around new uses of the oil drop. Here, I bring back the rigger and use contrasting sleeves with the drop over the sleeve numbers. Alaska Aces An idea I'd used for Alaska's state Aussie rules jumpers makes its return, as the hem and sleeve stripes are slightly curved upwards, inspired by the aurora borealis. Quad City Mallards I'm yelling words!

    Washington Capitals Jersey

I was inspired to try and create a new logo for the Capitals when the Wizards announced they were switching to the roundel logo for the playoffs and future seasons. Seeing that the Nationals also follow this theme for their logo, I wanted to see how the Caps would looks with new logos. Notes: - The stars on the arm are three in a row - The collar has "Rock The Red" on the inside Let me know what you think!
  7. HJC is holding a Stadium Series themed competition right now where entrants are to design uniforms for a hypothetical Stadium Series game. I chose Washington and Tampa Bay as it would be an interesting game. Star power between Ovechkin and Stamkos, and the two teams don't always get along. They've had some heated playoff series in the past so I believe both fanbases could get behind this. Plus it introduces a new team to the outdoor scene. All we have to create uniforms so all I'll be doing is adding the pants, helmets, etc. I won't be getting as in depth as some will. (Stadiums, Patches, Bleh, etc.) I may just use this years SS patch without a number as a placeholder. However, I imagine that the game would take place in DC, probably FedEx Field where the Redskins play as I'm not sure Florida can get or consistently stay cold enough to host an outdoor game. Raysox tells me it had been in the 40's that past week or so in Florida, but I feel like that was a fluke and he's a liar. The set on the left, the way I see it, is a combo between 1) Arm length yoke with enlarged arm striping and 2) Vertical hem striping playing off of the yoke. The set on the right features a large vertical stripe going down the torso. I also created a new collar for these jerseys. It's basically an Edmonton style collar but more square

    2015 Winter Classic Concept

Hey all, It's been a while since I have had some time to make some concepts. I've had this idea floating around in my mind for a while now (since the Capitals unveiled their uniforms for the winter classic), and I finally had some time to put this together. For the Capitals, I really do like what they're wearing for the WC, but I think that the barber pole striping on the yoke is a little overkill. Because of this, I changed the yoke design a little so that it both honors the original intentions of their design (homage to past teams), and also speaks to the District of Columbia. I also like what the Blackhawks are wearing, but don't necessarily see it sticking around because it is wayyyy to similar to their current road uniforms. What I put together is a little mashup fauxback combining elements from different eras in Blackhawks history. C&C always appreciated. Enjoy! edit....I also have a full set based off of this WC concept for the Caps that I will post soon!
  9. I had an idea for a concept logo for a Washington team (the Capitals makes the most sense but nothing truly says that it couldn't be the Nationals, or a new team, maybe a minor league affiliate), but it seems like such a simple idea that I find it hard to believe it hasn't been done before. I've looked at enough logo concepts on here and elsewhere that I wouldn't be at all surprised if I was, without knowing it, ripping off someone else's work. So I am asking you all, does this look like a logo similar to anything you've seen? or is this something new? If it's something new, is it any good? Any C&C? Major apologies if it's close to something that already exists.

    Washington Capitals Concept

I honestly kind of like the Capitals current look but I think they still have some problems. This is my fix. C&C welcome.

    Capitals Concept (update 11/7)

I once had a Capitals fan explain to me that their current look is a football thing. It's meant to look sleek and football-like so fans can relate. Well, now that the Caps have done a lot better at gathering a fan base, I think it's time to transition to something a little more hockey-like, and take advantage of their awesome secondary logo, while not completely forgetting their roots. The look is meant to evoke the 90s teams, the most hockey-like they've looked, while still Rocking the Red, and I wanted to include the stars somewhere, and I think the shoulder effect would be unique in the league, as well as reminiscent of their original star-spangled sweaters. So, without further ado, my version of the Caps: I debated off-color shoulders, thought it might be too busy. Thought about the wordmark on the shoulders, and it doesn't shrink as well as I'd like. Thought about putting stars directly above the Weagle, but why detract from that great logo? Was I wrong in any of my debates or would you like to see some tweaks? Thoughts? C&C? I'm all ears.

    NHL:Project 14 (Added Washington)

My 300th post is being used to start NHL:Project 14, which was going to be a realignment idea but returned to just a redesign. Let's get started with Anaheim The original Duck logo makes its return in a old, modernized version of what once was. The alt. is based off the striping from the Wild Wing mess, and the 4th IS the Wild Wing mess albeit the Mistral font. Boston Bruins These are based off the 1934-1936 jerseys, the first ones to feature black instead of brown. The alt is a fauxback, with the newer alternate bear logo. Buffalo Sabres This one was easy. Added more white, eliminated the pit stains, and unveiled another fauxback that minimizes white, and uses what I think is Buffalo's most underutilized logo, which looks really good in the original blue and yellow. Flames coming soon, C & C welcome.
