  1. I recently entered a contest held by the Post2Post YouTube channel about redesigning the logo of current NHL teams. It was possible to send a entry for every team but I only entered with three. I chose the teams I already had an idea for which were the Coyotes, Oilers and Islanders. I could have done also the Kings logo but I ran short of time. I'm pretty happy with the overall result as all my logos made the top 63 and the Isles logo arrived 4th (it was 5th but then second logo got disqualified). Still, I was a bit disappointed for the other entries as I felt that in the previous contest they had way better entries in the top10 while in this one some were a tad weak. I'd like to hear some comment on my work as I mainly tried them out just because I really enjoy contests and events even if in the end my works are just average. Here you have the link if you want to have a look to the other entries. Here you have my entries I decided to redo the Coyotes logo just because I've always felt like their logo was nice but a bit too busy near the coyote's eyes and that the only animal head was a bit odd just like that. As a second I went with the Oilers also if I like their current logo (they are my favourite team) but I see that it is a bit outdated and in my opinion not old enough to be an historical one, like the Canadiens logo, so it should be updated. While I quite like the overall result of the drop on the gear wheel in the end I'm not completely ok with the helmet. It looked like a good idea to incorporate it but maybe the logo could have looked better without it. With the Islanders I had the easiest task as their logo is pretty awful. I know they won 4 Stanley Cups in a row with it, but the same I've said for the Oilers applies here. I know that the fisherman logo was higly hated but I think that it was a bold move out of the comfort zone they should repeat in the near future (without the teal please...).

    New York Islanders Rebrand

Out of boredom, a need/want to do something, and a first-ever jersey swap, here is my New York Islanders rebrand. Feel free to rip into the actual jerseys, but be kind with the jersey swap - it's my first. What do you think?
  3. Can the Gordon's Fishstick's Era of Logos be saved? Well I started to work with the Fisherman updating the colors (Sea Blue replaces teal and silver leaves altogether) and then applied the color changes to the Lighthouse and decided that'd be a stronger primary (after rotating it to face up and down) Uniforms soon coming.
  4. Hello all! After a short break to refill my inspiration, and a failed attempt at creating a WCH 2016 redesign, I'm back with a new personal logo, and a new concept for the New York Islanders. First, some backstory. The Isles have a storied and long history, being formed in 1972 as a way for the NHL to keep the WHA out of New York. The team rose from being at the bottom of the standings to winning the Stanley Cup in less than 10 years, and won the trophy 4 times in a row, which is a feat that hasn't been accomplished in any major North American sports league since. The team's logo was rumored to have been designed by the owners' wives, then touched up by an official designer. The logo has a lot of meaning, with Long Island, a nod to the team's 4 Stanley Cups, 'NY' for New York, a hockey stick, and the team's name. The logo is a bit outdated, in my opinion. I went with a simplified version of the logo, that plays off of the Isles' current alternate logo. The uniforms are also somewhat designed off of the previous ones, but with a more modern and touched up feel. I added a shoulder yoke, and the "signature" Adidas armpit stripes. The alternate is the 2nd orange alternate the Islanders have worn, but the first with a traditional feel to it. The four blue stripes on the alternate call back to the team's 4th Stanley Cup. Let me know what you think!
  5. I live in Rhode Island and created this hockey logo that I posted this last week... http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/107224-providence-rhode-islanders/#comment-2579299 The feedback has been positive overall but everyone keeps saying the stick makes the logo unbalanced and that I should change the stick in the logo. I have no reason to change it because I created it knowing what I'm going to do with it on the jersey itself so here it is on a jersey. The state colors on the flag are yellow blue and white. The state flag also has an anchor on it so that's what I added to the shoulder patch.

    Providence Rhode Islanders

So I live in Rhode Island and decided to create this logo. Its the state of RI with a hockey stick and the puck is where Providence is located. The background you see is of the state house in Providence and the RI state flag is also in the shot. I used the state colors on the logo itself.

    NY Islanders Black Alt

So, in my opinion, the new New York Islanders alternate jerseys aren't that bad. They're (Sadly) Brooklyn's team now, and they need to represent it. Alternate jerseys should also jump out of the box and be unique, which is what the new alternates are doing. The 'B' logo that's inside the arrow is on the sides of the pants, which is only visible on the full-body presentation. Regardless, I decided to see if I could 'Spice it up' a little, so here we go! I have one presentation with the jersey flat and another with it on a person. So yeah! Let me know what I could do to make it better, besides taking black out all together, below!

    Winter Classic 2017

So, the Winter Classic for 2016 has already been announced between the Bruins and Canadiens, to be held in Foxboro. I made two designs for another Color Vs. Color Winter Classic in 2017, to be held at Citi Park in Flushing Meadows between the Islanders and Devils. These are pretty basic designs that I think look good, so here they are! Let me know your comments and thoughts!
  9. This is my attempt at a concept for the Islanders. I was trying to modernize their old lighthouse logo, but I'm unsure what to add to it or how I should revise it. Maybe they could use this as a patch. I don't know where I want to go with this yet. Advice/C&C is very helpful. Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for the C&C.

    New York Islanders Concept

Since the New York Islanders are moving to Brooklyn, New York many believe including myself that the Islanders will change their jerseys. This is what I would do(Pay no attention to the Stadium series logo on the 3rd jersey): Home: Away: Alternate:

    The Barclays Center

Can we just appreciate the geniuses who decided hockey should be played at the barclays center. Lots of obstructed views for hockey http://pixel.nymag.com/imgs/daily/intelligencer/2013/09/23/23-islanders-hockey-barclays-center-2.w529.h352.2x.jpg

    NY Islanders Brooklyn Update

Heres my attempt at updating the Islanders for their move to the barclays center. They may be a storied franchise and tradition is very important but their logo is godawful. The press conference was announced via Twitter by the PEI Rocket on Friday. The new name of the franchise (Charlottetown Islanders) was semi-officially announced on May 3rd. http://www.cbc.ca/ne...ders-qmjhl.html *Please post any and all new images of the new logo in this thread. ***UPDATE*** 10:42AM 5/27/13 logo unveiled
  15. With the Islanders moving to Brooklyn soon, I decided to give them a slightly new look adding the Brooklyn bridge and bringing back the victory stripes. The third/winter classic jersey is based on the Brooklyn Americans. c/c?
  16. Ok I'd like to first off give a huge thanks to Bmac. I had an extremely rough draft thrown together on MS Paint and he cam threw cleaned it up and made it presentable. On to the concept... When I heard of the Islanders plans to move to Brooklyn, I came to the conclusion that they needed an upgrade. A makeover. Here are some of the thoughts that went into the concept: With the Nets moving into Brooklyn and getting a new look, I figured the Islanders deserved to as well. I wanted color. Don't get me wrong I like the Black and White combo for the Nets. I find it crisp and clean. I just didn't think two teams in the same area needed the same scheme (both on rebrands). I disliked the old color combos. The 95-96 "Gorton's Fisherman" logo scheme of Teal/Orange/Navy, just no. Orange and Blue is a good combo, don't get me wrong I'm just tired of seeing it. (See: Oilers, Mets, DET Tigers, Auburn Tigers, CHI Bears, Thunder, Bobcats, Knicks etc...you get the point) I love the combo of Blue/Green/Yellow, I find that the colors really POP and they meld together really crisply. As far as a logo I love the shape of Long Island and really wanted to brand the team as the Islanders, hence the island. I'd love to some how incorporate the Brooklyn Bridge in to another logo, but I lack the skill-set to pull this off. I originally did the colored jersey and loved the striping Green/Blue/Yellow/Blue/Green and decided it was too good to mess with and kept it on the white, but for continuity I kept the blue on either side of the striping. The concept: I'd love to hear some feedback on these. Once again a huge thank you to Bmac!
