  1. Hello. I am an animator and video editor and I have been working on and off on a logo redesign project for the better part of a year now (with long stretches of inactivity) as a way to get better at illustrator and I thought I would make an account here for some critique. I started really getting in to logo design when I came across a black and white and horribly pixelated design for a Fleur De Lis that I thought could be made into a St. Louis Blues logo, and after contacting the owner of the shop and asking about it and if I could mess with it, I did. I didn't really think it worked well as a main logo, but I did think it worked as a shoulder patch. I did it in a couple other colors as well and took the wordmark from the actual St. Louis Blues sheet music after an idea from the kind folks on the Blues subreddit. Over a year later I thought I decided I needed to get better at illustrator so I started designing alternate/shoulder logos for the rest of the league. I'm "done" with about 1/4 of the league at this point. Please let me know what you think and I would love to hear suggestions on what I need to improve on, but keep in mind I dont really know what I am doing. Also, if there is a better way to format this let me know. St. Louis Original: Wordmark: Colors: Revision: I did Minnesota next, where I thought a roundel logo would look cool. I did two variants of the same logo and one that was a riff on their main logo. 1: 2: 3: Colorado This one I actually think could stand up as a main logo. I got rid of their ugly "Millennium swoops' Winnipeg Classic colors: Modern Colors: Toronto: based on the city of Toronto's flag Ottowa: I wanted to play off their older logo that everyone loves so much without just making it an exact copy Revision: Buffalo: I took the crossed swords from their red logo days and put them behind the skull I drew. Penguins: I replaced the iconic triangle with a Pennsylvania keystone. Hopefully that doesn't make me a heretic. Revision: I put the penguin in a complete keystone and I like it, but I still think the half keystone looks better. Lightning: Honestly something's missing from this one, but everything I add makes it look worse so I decided to ask you all what you think. the L works pretty good but it seems empty. Again, these aren't really meant to replace the logo front of the jersey, most are meant to be shoulder patches, but this one feels empty. Wordmark: I thought trying to make it a wordmark would work a little bit better, and it does in some aspects, but it feels really empty still. Canadiens: I took the Fleur from the Montreal flag and tried to turn it in to an "M"which I think works pretty well, but I do think it needs some more polishing. I don't really like this better than their current logo but I think something like it could work as a shoulder patch 1: 2: Stars: I took their old star logo and updated the colors and added a recolored Texas flag. Then I removed the wordmark and had the star go through the middle of a D in the same style as the other letters 1: 2: After a bit of a hiatus, I am back. I took the Spirit of Detroit and added wings to it. I am not sure if I want to add something in his hands but I am pretty proud of this logo I have had this Preds logo in my back pocket for a little while now, its super simple and is kind of a combination of their shoulder patch and chest logo. I plan on doing another one for the Preds as well but I thought I'd post this one just to get an idea of what you guys think
  2. Leafs 2016/17 name and number font

Does anyone happen to have or know where I can get the new Leafs font that's on their new jerseys? I've been looking for it but I'm having no luck I'm looking to make a poster in photoshop with the back names and numbers but like I said I can't find the font. Any help would be greatly appreciated
  3. Maple Leafs Alternate

Hey all! So this is the design of the Toronto Maple Leafs alternate jersey that I did for the latest hockeyjerseyconcepts.com contest. I explained my reasoning behind the choices on the logo, but if anyone has any questions I am happy to answer them. For reference these are the University of Toronto logo and Toronto Arenas logo that I mentioned in the image, and the 1934-37 jersey that was mentioned. I am pretty happy with how this turned out, but as always comments, questions, and critiques are always welcome! Thanks in advanced.
  4. Six months after the unveiling of the new Maple Leafs uniform, I'm used to the mega-thick stripe on the hem, but I actually don't like the classic double stripes on the arms. A great logo like this needs a bold design to compliment it, so I decided to make my fix. The Arenas' 4-stripe barberpole adjusted to fit the thick hem stripe replaces the double stripe, while on the home the stripe is lowered to throwback to the Arenas and form a T with the new pants. The stripe is kept where it is on the away, so the negative white space on the hem connects with the pants. The pants themselves are simple. so to go with the stripe I just put the simple Arenas' T. To show the full uniform and the T on the pants, I used one of JCRGraphix's great templates. C&C Appreciated!
  5. Though I like the new Leafs sweaters, I was a little disappointed that there was no shoulder patch. They could go the easy route of putting their current logo with more veins, or going throwback, but I had an idea to go both routes. This would combine the original Toronto Arenas 'T' and their current leaf design. Clearly Shanahan and Co. want to go back to the club's roots, so this could do the job. This was simply an idea I had. C&C appreciated.
  6. Hey Folks, A few elements of the new leafs logo bother me, I did a behance project on a possible changes, please let me know what you think. https://www.behance.net/gallery/36292939/Toronto-Maple-Leafs-logo-redesign-concept
  7. The Maple Leafs are getting a new logo for next season. Next season will be year 100 in the NHL for the Leafs. A wordless version of the logo has been seen at the ACC lately.
  8. For this first attempt at a concept I wanted to do something that most likely won't happen. I'm labeling it as a Modern Vintage set. After watching the All-Star game I really liked the name bar connecting to the back rather than just a nameplate, so I executed that with a whole set. I think the home dark gives a more modern feel with no hem but still a "chest" stripe. Then adding a hem to the white jersey i felt gave it more "beef" and gave a more vintage feel. Tell me what you think about this first one. Hate it? Like it? Minor alterations? Or just scrap the whole idea?
  9. Toronto Maple Leafs 100th Aniversary

I wanted to wait until the Maple Leafs revealed their logo before making a concept for it. The jerseys are based off the ones they wore for a while in the 30's, 40's, and the 50's. An alternate(s) will come soon. Edit: 100TH POST!!!!!
  10. The Leafs finally unveiled their nice new logo yesterday. Now the speculation begins as to what the jerseys will look like. I figured they will be based on a classic set, but possibly with a twist. So I came up with this interpretation. What do you think?
  11. Hey guys, this is the first sports concept I've ever done outside of racing liveries. As a Leaf fan, I've always been curious about when they would change the long standing "Ballard Leaf". With such a long history, and the many changes their logo has gone through, it's only fitting that the 100th anniversary of the franchise gets a new logo that ties all* of the designs of the past into one, while still looking modern. (*Well, maybe not all, you will notice the lack of the colour green in this concept.) I'm really pleased with how this turned out, so I hope you like it: As a bonus, I did a quick chop of a few images of the jersey on current photos to give a better idea of how it looks in action: Let me know what you think!
  12. Maple Leafs Heritage Series

Here is my series of heritage jerseys for the Maple Leafs anniversary season. If anyone would like more HQ images I can post those for each jersey. C&C is always welcome
  13. New Toronto Maple Leafs Jerseys

Alright, as we all know, the Maple Leafs are getting a new logo and jerseys next season. Based on the hints dropped by merchandise, marketing, and CCSLN, I've made a few concepts that represent what I'd like to see the Leafs wear. Let me know what you think of the jerseys and logos!
  14. anybody have info on this logo?

does anyone know what logo this is? I would love to figure out how old this hat is. i thought it was part of the marlboro's / Leafs franchises but couldn't find it anywhere
  15. As I am sure many people have since the Chris Creamer broke the news of the Maple Leafs redesign, I took a stab at a new look for the Leafs. The design which I made is completely different than anything the Leafs have ever worn before, but still looks classic, although not in the traditional sense. I also threw together a basic centennial patch to go along with the jerseys. As always, comments and criticisms are always welcome!
  16. Hybrid Logos Series: Toronto Teams

Although I first posted the Boson/New England Hybrid logos it all started off the with my hometown, Toronto. I needed/still needed to tweak of the logos but here they are anyway. Toronto Raptors (Blue Jays) Hybrid Logo. I red did the font and use the Blue Jays logos clean line for inspiration but still can't not totally happy with it. I kept the original Raptors colours but this logo also looks good with the Blue Jays colours (below). This one is still a work in progress. I've been having a hard time getting this one jusssst right. Thoughts? Here's the logo in the Blue Jays colours with a different mouth. Which colour way do you like best? Toronto Blue Jays (Raptors) Hybrid Logo. \ This is my personal favourite. Using the original Raptors logo as inspiration by keeping font, layout, the legs and head position and making The Blue Jay hold a baseball and wear a baseball uniform. I kept the Jay's colours minus the red. Toronto Maple Leafs (Argonauts) Hybrid Logo. As dull as the Argos and Leafs logos are I did have to do something. Here I used the current Argo's logo, changed the "A" to a "L" and added maples leaves to the border of the shield. Toronto Argos (Maple Leafs) Hybrid Logo. I didn't have much to work with the Leafs logo. I re-did the entire font since its not available anywhere to download. I turned the Leaf into a "A" and kept the side of the leaf design so it didn't just look like a boring "A". Toronto Maple Leafs (Argos Classic Logo) I prefer the old Argos logo to the current one so I had to do another Maple Leafs Hybrid Logo based on the old one. Instead of the Argo I replaced it with a hockey player holding a hockey stick and a shield (couldn't think of anything hockey-ish to replace the shield). The helmet is changed to a hockey helmet with a leaf branded on it. Stuck with the old Argo colours. The line work needs to be cleaned up a bit. Thoughts, praise and criticism is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  17. Toronto Maple Leafs Jersey Set

I was wondering if the Toronto Maple Leafs have kept with the 1997-2000 jerseys, the one with the numbers based on the logo's wordmark font. Anyways, here is what I would suggest: Lemme know your thoughts guys. P.S.: The following concepts aren't mine. The true credit and copyright goes to A_J_H.
  18. No numbers, because I have no idea how to do them on Paint.NET
