  1. Well, the Sounders lift the MLS Cup, and its time to look to the next season. So what to expect? Will the NASL survive? Will the USL take over D2? Will Seattle fans be incredibly insufferable? Will the Cosmos ever pay all those players and staffers their back wages?
  2. Here is a game-day article graphic I did for the people at WakingTheRed.com, an SB Nation blog covering Toronto FC.
  3. Ever since Sporting KC came into MLS, they've had easily the best uniforms in the league. They had clean home and away looks that incorporated elements of their crest, and alternates that were always on point with the Sporting Argyle. Ever since they introduced the icy white alternate uniform, easily one of the best in MLS history, the league started cutting back on alternate kits. This year, the league did away with them completely. In general, I think Adidas has been a little too stripped back with uniforms, especially KC's. Sure they look sharp, but every team can gear up in pinstripes. With this concept, I wanted to get KC back to its roots with something that draws from the team's unique identity. I wanted to draw from the crest, and also figure out some way to incorporate the argyle. Here is what I came up with. For the primary, I went with the classic powder blue and navy look. The jersey features a navy striping design on half of the kit, similar to what Dortmund did a few years ago. The striping mimics the striping pattern on the club crest. The rest of the uniform is pretty orthodox, with the only other detail being the powder and dark powder striping on the socks. For the secondary, I was thinking of doing a navy uniform, but elected to bring back the all-black look instead. For the kit I decided to use a midnight blue and silver for the trim. For the jersey, I decided to bring my take to the Argyle motif, with a sublimated midnight blue argyle pattern across the chest. The same midnight blue appears on the bottom of the shorts as trim. The same sock pattern is on the alternate kit, instead in charcoal and black. Let me know what you think of the concept! All C&C is much appreciated.

  6. Hey everyone, I've been following the forum for a long time, and finally I decided to present you my own kit concepts. I will be designing a home and an away kit for existing and future MLS teams. I won't be following a certain order, but I will be sure that all kits are done. I might also include third kits for some teams. I hope you guys will like the concepts I will be posting So, without further ado, here are the kits for Chicago Fire: On the home kit, I was inspired by the home kit worn between 2000 and 2002. I know it looks like the current one, but I think that the navy stripe on the bottom completes the look. The cuffs and the socks were also designed to be consistent with the stripes on the middle. I wanted to integrate Chicago's flag into the away kit, so I was inspired by the away kit Uruguay wore in this year's Copa America. But, then I realized that if a player tucked in his shirt, the flag wouldn't be seen completely. So, I decided to do what Everton did with their home kit last season, and made the top portion of the shorts white and raised the flag a little bit to ensure that all players on the pitch have the same look.
  7. I've been lurking here for a while, and I finally decided to post something of my own. I'm only just starting out, so c&c is greatly appreciated. I will try to get through every team in the MLS, home and away, but I might go back and add some third jerseys if it goes well. Teams: Atlanta United FC Chicago Fire Columbus Crew SC D.C. United Montreal Impact New England Revolution New York City FC New York Red Bulls Orlando City SC Philadelphia Union Toronto FC Colorado Rapids FC Dallas Houston Dynamo LA Galaxy Portland Timbers Real Salt Lake San Jose Earthquakes Seattle Sounders FC Sporting Kansas City Vancouver Whitecaps FC Minnesota United FC
  8. Today as an April Fools joke, the group behind a prospective MLS team in San Diego unveiled that they'd be calling their team San Diego Footy McFooty Face due to it finishing first in their online poll. Obviously this was a joke but nonetheless, here is the logo they presented. Seeing as how this was clearly a tongue-in-cheek attempt at coming up with a logo for the San Diego Footy McFooty Face, I thought I'd at least put some effort into making a better one that doesn't look like a bunch of clip art cobbled together. So, after just an hour, this is what I came up instead. Thoughts? I won't say it's a great logo by any means but I feel it's at least a significant improvement on the original.
  9. It's my first soccer concept, so it may be a little rough or bad looking, but here is what I'd do with the Colorado Rapids. Thanks for everything!
  10. Here is a complete kit set redesign I've been thinking about for a long time now. I like to call this series "Sea 2 Sky" as in the second revision of the "Sea to Sky" kits the Whitecaps released in 2016, all while completely trashing the 2017 kit. Plan was to use existing brand elements (the pattern, gradient) and create a realistic new version of each kit. Quite happy with the outcome, but would love feedback. Vancouver Whitecaps LAFC LA Galaxy
  11. I've been working on a project for a little while now and I figured I'd post it. Every club will get a city pride kit. I'll start off with the defending champs, the Portland Timbers. The kit reflects the "Keep Portland Weird" slogan
  12. Try my crack at this one more time with the idea that there is a stronger chance MLS is coming to SD after chargers bolted! No pun intended. Old Thread
  13. Love making soccer badges so I figured I would take a few stabs at MLS logos. Montreal's logo is one I have messed with before, but I did not take my last design into consideration with this one. I kept the basic elements, like the 4 stars, fleur, and traditional stripes. My goal was to give them a clean look. Let me know what you think. Also, what American Soccer logos do you think could be improved, I would love some ideas. Thanks!
  14. Created a soccer concept for San Diego MLS bid, San Diego Football Club. Shout out to @Xamboni for helping with some of the mockup renderings and @raysox for his jersey template. Please let me know what you guys think. Im more than happy to tweak/fix anything as I know it's not perfect. Thanks in advance. Also once I finalize logo/jersey etc I will look to create a media guide.
  15. Hi everyone -- had a good time making my 2017 MLS series, so now I'm going to start a similar series for 2018! Once again I'm using the SS Kits template from the Football Manager community, just this time I'm swapping homes/aways from my 2017 series, of course. Also, just to keep things fresh, I'm going to go in reverse order from the last series and work my way backwards through each conference alphabetically. Also will do full sets for LAFC and Miami when I get to those, though I suppose I'll have to design my own Miami badge, eek! EAST: Atlanta United / Chicago Fire / Columbus Crew / DC United / Miami / Montreal Impact / New England Revolution / New York City FC / New York Red Bulls / Orlando City / Philadelphia Union / Toronto FC WEST: Colorado Rapids / FC Dallas / Houston Dynamo / LA Galaxy / Los Angeles FC / Minnesota United / Portland Timbers / Real Salt Lake / San Jose Earthquakes / Seattle Sounders / Sporting Kansas City / Vancouver Whitecaps
  16. Any feedback is welcomed!
  17. Went for something similar to what Dryworld did with QPR. I've always felt that this is the look the Caps should have rocked since day one.
  18. Hi all! It has been many, many minutes since I was working on design regularly. Trying to change that now with another run through my own versions of 2017 Major League Soccer kits. They might look a little weird since my usual template (the SS Kits template for Football Manager) doesn't come with shorts and socks, so I had to frankenstein a couple templates together. But hopefully you'll at least get the idea. I intend to run through each conference alphabetically, only doing one kit per team based on what they're actually due for in 2017. At the end I'll do the full sets for the two expansion teams. Also I've read conflicting things whether all next year's kits are going to go back to shoulder stripes or not, so I'm just gonna put the stripes wherever I feel like on that particular kit. So here goes. EAST: Atlanta United / Chicago Fire / Columbus Crew / DC United / Montreal Impact / New England Revolution / New York City FC / New York Red Bulls / Orlando City / Philadelphia Union / Toronto FC WEST: Colorado Rapids / FC Dallas / Houston Dynamo / LA Galaxy / Minnesota United / Portland Timbers / Real Salt Lake / San Jose Earthquakes / Seattle Sounders / Sporting Kansas City / Vancouver Whitecaps --------------------------------------------------------- First up is Chicago Fire, which is actually a hard way to start as I think their current away set is perfect and exactly what they should wear. I tried to stick with the Chicago flag theme, based on the colors and the stars in the lower right of the shirt, but change up the design some.
  19. Let me get straight into this. Canada hasn't won a major North American sports league title since the Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup against the Los Angeles Kings, 4 games to 1 and the Toronto Blue Jays won the 1993 World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies, 4 games to 2. Since then, 4 Canadian teams make the Stanley Cup Final only to lose: the Vancouver Canucks (1994, 2011), the Calgary Flames (2004), the Edmonton Oilers (2006) and the Ottawa Senators (2007) and 1 Canadian team did make the MLS Cup only to lose: the Toronto FC (2016). Also we can't forget that two former Canadian NHL teams relocated to the States in 2 consecutive years: the Quebec Nordiques became the Colorado Avalanche in '95, while the original Winnipeg Jets became the Arizona Coyotes in '96. Many NHL fans not only in Canada but also around the world (except the U.S.) thinks it was former Los Angeles Kings defenceman Marty McSorley that put a curse in the Canadian NHL teams after the Habs won the 1993 SCF, while many NHL fans in the U.S. thinks that Canadian teams has a lot of bad luck against the American teams when they compete in the Stanley Cup Final. The Blue Jays only returned to the MLB Postseason 22 years after the last World Series title. They won the American League East Division in 2015 and they won the AL Wild Card berth the following year. In the 2015 ALDS they beat the Texas Rangers, 3 games to 2, while in the ALCS, they were defeated by the eventual World Series champs Kansas City Royals, 4 games to 2. The path was longer in the following year: They won the Wild Card Game against the Baltimore Orioles, 5-2, they won the ALDS against the Texas Rangers once again, but this time they swept that series by 3, but in the ALCS, they were defeated by the eventual American League champs and World Series runners-up the Cleveland Indians. Many Blue Jays fans thinks the 2-year row ALCS losses against the Royals and the Indians thinks it was bad luck and no good playing, while many non-Blue Jays fans thinks the Jays had bad luck against the Royals and the Indians. This year, the Toronto FC surprisingly advanced to the MLS Cup by winning the Eastern Conference title, they dominated the game but however, they did heartbreakingly lose the title to the Seattle Sounders in the penalties, 5 to 4. Many TFC fans thinks the loss was a bad luck and missed opportunity, while Sounders fans thinks TFC had bad luck against a team that has former TFC goalie Stefan Frei, who had a memorable MLS Cup by winning both the title and the Most Valuable Player award. Canada has only one NBA team: the Toronto Raptors, who had won four Atlantic Division titles (2007, 2014, 2015 and 2016) but they were eliminated three times in the first round and one time in the East Final: 2007 and 2014 against the New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets and 2015 against the Washington Wizards and lost the 2016 Eastern Conference final against the eventual NBA champs Cleveland Cavaliers. Many Raptors fans thinks the team had a lack of luck but non-Raptors fans thinks the Raptors had bad luck against American-based NBA teams in the Playoffs. There are two reasons behind this horrific drought: 1) American Dollar always gets valued than the its Canadian counterpart 2) American teams has more luck than the Canadian teams when we there is a sports league title on the line So, guys, what do you think about this terrible drama involving Canadian-based North American sports league teams?.
  20. For those of you who don't know, the North American Soccer League (NASL) was the first major attempt to establish a professional soccer league in North America. Running from 1968-1984, it built the foundation for the United States hosting the 1994 World Cup and, subsequently, the founding of MLS and soccer's increased popularity in this country. I thought it would be fun to make a concept series combining elements from former NASL teams with current MLS teams. So here we are, with my first team: the Colorado Rapids! Colorado Rapids Soccer in the Centennial State started with the Denver Dynamos from 1974 to 1975, but it's the 1978 Caribous of Colorado that are probably most well-known. Their notorious uniforms were the height of gaudy 70's aesthetic: fringe, disco collars, and short shorts. This concept follows the general design of the original team but with those 70's elements removed and recolored for the Rapids (don't worry, those white lines on the clash won't be fringes, just a design). I also created a new badge out of the wordmark from the Caribous, placing it on an oval which gave me the impression of a beer label. In a similar vein, I have the sponsor as Coors, which just makes sense to me. Many (all?) of the uniforms in the NASL were not as, um, ambitious (?) as the Caribous, so some of these MLS concepts will be a little bit less exciting (I'll probably take some artistic liberties in those instances). Anyway, here's the Colorado Rapids and I hope you have plenty of comments about it.
  21. So last year I did a 2016 series of MLS kits. So I'm back with the 2017 template. City seals (or state) are in top of collars and have no real them some will have city pride etc. Atlanta United FC Home - Simple with a bit of detail within the stripe. Away - Again kept simple and classy with thin pinstripes. C&C much appreciated.
  22. Well, the Timbers are the MLS Champions for 2015, and that puts a capper on the 2015 domestic season. Time to talk about 2016! I'll get it started: Sports Illustrated is reporting (from a reporter for the Davis Enterprise) that the NASL will announce a San Francisco franchise next year. This is huge because the NASL desperately needs a West Coast team (or at least a WST team) to maintain their DII status. But... downtown San Francisco? Sounds excellent, but where?
  23. Hey all. Mark Cuban has just decided to build a new stadium in Pittsburgh and start up an MLS expansion team, Pittsburgh FC! (I wish!) Soccer kits and logo design are new for me so any CC is much appreciated Only have the home jersey done for now. Let me know if I should go on with the other two jerseys. Thanks! Sorry for the AWFUL crop job. Not sure what was happening.
  24. Hey Guys! It has been awhile since I've put up a concept, so here we go. This is a concept for the MLS Chicago Fire. I tried to make it more modern so it can fit with the new "feel" of the MLS. I kept a few touches from the old logo and some from around the MLS. I hope you guys like this one! C&C Welcome! Thanks!
  25. Hello all! Haven't been on the boards for a while but more time is free for me to do some designing so without further aideu - MLS 2020 - A look into the future Heres a few things to note before we get into it - Posts will come somewhat regularly, but i do have to be a student, so no guarantees. Many Thanks, Asterix
