    Inter Miami Kit Concept (MLS)

    Inter Miami Kit Concept
  2. A companion series to "Players in the 'wrong' uniforms" and "Players on the right team but wrong uniform"...this is about players who spent most of their careers in crappy unis. Obviously the poster boy here is Tom Brady. But there are others. There must be others.
  3. Hello, everyone, I'm vtgco! I've lurked on these forums for a while now, and I finally decided to sign up for an account and post my first topic, because... ...after a few less successful attempts, I have finally created a concept for my Seattle Sounders that I like! Despite being an enthusiastic fan of the team, I don't particularly like their current logo. Its strangely shaped shields and redundant white & gray outlines feel poorly weighted, the Space Needle is inaccurately depicted in a gray color, and the banner hogs the spotlight. Worst of all, though, the current logo doesn't even represent the beloved Puget Sound, the namesake of the team! I think my concept addresses some of these issues, while also combining the different eras of Sounders logo history. So, first off, I decided to use a hexagonal, emerald shape for the Emerald City's team. I also wanted to use a kelly/emerald green, because I don't like the obnoxious lime green, because it's closer to the color of both trees (Seattle has a lot of those) and emeralds, and because the NASL and USL Sounders used a darker green. I created a new, more accurately colored and shaped Space Needle silhouette. I brought in the NASL era-style waves to represent the Puget Sound. I paired it with the NASL era wordmark, which I really love, and kept the current logo's "Seattle" font. For A & B, I wanted to have versions that used similar colors and format (green on top of blue) to the current logo. For C & D, I incorporated the NASL-era teal, creating an abstract image of a typical view of the Puget Sound (light blue sky, green islands, deep blue water). It also semi-intentionally looks like the local SoundTransit buses, which apparently was once the jersey sponsor for the USL-era Sounders. I might do some alternate logos and jerseys, so hopefully you guys can help me decide between these four versions before I move on! Your input is appreciated. Thanks! TL;DR: I really like retro Sounders stuff. Help me choose a version of my logo, plz

    MLS Jersey Concept

I've been lurking here for a while, and I finally decided to post something of my own. I'm only just starting out, so c&c is greatly appreciated. I will try to get through every team in the MLS, home and away, but I might go back and add some third jerseys if it goes well. Teams: Atlanta United FC - Updated Chicago Fire Columbus Crew SC D.C. United - Updated Montreal Impact - Updated New England Revolution - Updated New York City FC New York Red Bulls Orlando City SC - Updated Philadelphia Union Toronto FC Colorado Rapids FC Dallas Houston Dynamo LA Galaxy - Updated Minnesota United FC Portland Timbers Real Salt Lake San Jose Earthquakes Seattle Sounders FC - Updated Sporting Kansas City Vancouver Whitecaps FC - Updated
  8. Hey guys, remember me? No? Oh well. I actually made these a year or two ago, and just never got around to posting them. Now I am back from my hiatus and am ready to post some kicky-sphere concepts. (This is actually an MLS redesign but don't tell anyone) Onto the first team, Atlanta United FC For the primary, I basically took their current home and made it stripier, because Adidas needs to lose their shameless plugs (3 stripes on the front of the jersey Editors Note: It's really hard to write about changes after not writing about changes For the clash, I felt like we didn't need two sets of stripes, so I tried something different (I may go back and edit the sash because I don't like how it is now, I just took these and posted them.) Anyways, this was I actually believe my first or second attempt at a soccer jersey, so obviously it's gonna be rough, I'll grow over time. Philly or Chicago next!
  9. So as you should know, the Columbus Crew of the MLS have been having some problems with securing a new stadium in Columbus. So, instead of moving them to Austin (that would just make too many Texas teams in that small of a market area,) I decided to move them to St. Louis, Missouri. They would keep the name and colors, but with a new logo. I decided that the Gateway Arch would be the focus for the logo. Also, the kits would stay the same (excpet for it saying St. Louis instead of Columbus) Here's the logo!

    Atlanta United 3rd Kit Concept

Atlanta United is rumored to be doing away with their inaugural away kits, which is a good thing in my view as they were pretty boring. I love their red and black striped kit, and wanted to keep the "5 Stripes" in my concept kit as well. It's an all black idea, so I thought it may work better as a 3rd kit rather than their main away kit. I may attempt an away kit as well on this thread in the future.
  11. I created a new concept for the Chicago Fire 3rd kit. The current away and 3rd kits are both based on the Chicago flag, so I thought it was time to change it up. These Jerseys are based on a fire fighter's uniform, The neon and silver accents would be a reflective material similar to that of a fire fighter's uniform. (the image with the black background is meant to show off the reflective accents.) This is what the reflective material looks like in action (Lower Left) This is also seen on the new Tampa Bay Jerseys Although The CFD wears black uniforms I wanted to keep at least on team color on the jersey.
  12. With Atlanta United's recent away kit leak, I decided to try and "predict" what some teams will come out with for the 2018 season. I'll kick it off with New England and Chicago. For both jerseys I used the half shoulder stripe because that's what Atlanta's has. For the designs themselves, I used a dual horizontal stripe for the Revs because that's what their social media branding utilizes and I see them sticking with the whole red/white stripe thing seen on this years primary and secondary. For Chicago, they're also getting a new home kit so I went with a classic vertical stripe down the left.
  13. Recently, I participated in the Fuse Sessions Sport Branding Workshop with Joe Bosack. During the workshop Joe guided us through a quick history of sport branding, his professional experience and gave us some great information on how to concept and design sport identities. For the workshop, I chose to create a new an identity for a new MLS Expansion team in Nashville. The final mark was inspired by Nashville's music scene, printing/letterpress studios and the Gateway bridge. The color scheme was pulled from the neon signs that line Broadway.
  14. Well, the Sounders lift the MLS Cup, and its time to look to the next season. So what to expect? Will the NASL survive? Will the USL take over D2? Will Seattle fans be incredibly insufferable? Will the Cosmos ever pay all those players and staffers their back wages?

MLS | Expansion team Detroit Motor SC

Major League Soccer would currently like to expand its league by giving the city of Detroit, Michigan their first professional soccer team. Fans of the semi-pro Detroit City FC hate that idea, while former Express co-owner and soccer mogul Roger Faulkner clearly thinks it's a no-brainer to invest in a Detroit-based pro team. So here's the logo set of the brand-new (and of course fictional) Detroit Motor SC. Colors are navy blue and orange (plus the new color chrome), inherited from the former NASL Detroit Express (1978-81). A large vintage car emblem in the center in front of a wheel, including chrome rim spokes, are forming this primary mark. The alternate mark is thematically based on those vintage car emblems and signs of the 1930's, 40's and 50's. Thanks for watching!
  16. The NWSL will have a new team next year, as FC Kansas City has officially moved to Utah and been re-named Utah Royals FC. Gotta be a shame when the NWSL team has such a better name and badge than its MLS brother. I especially like the inclusion of the Delicate Arch, which really shouldn't work as well as it does.

    MLS Expansion Project

When the MLS was a possiblity for Charlotte, I put together some different branding and logos designs. Both fairly similar, I learned shortly after the first, Queen City FC that the MLS was not looking for nicknames to be used, so there was a quick facelift to the whole design. Here are the two concept sites for each - again fairly similar - http://ericpaullin.com/FCCharlotte/ http://ericpaullin.com/charlottemlspitch/
  18. We've touched on this in the domestic soccer thread, but I think this is now big enough that it deserves its own thread. Last year, the US Soccer Federation sanctioned two leagues as Division 2 - the NASL, which had been the only D2 league, and the USL, which had previously been D3. The NASL almost folded at this point, and was only spared when Rocco Commisso saved the Cosmos from going under at quite literally the last minute. That gave the NASL a stay of execution, but only a temporary one. Last month, the owner of the NASL's Miami FC partnered with the owner of the semi-pro Kingston Stockade FC, filing a claim with the Court of Arbitration for Sports in an attempt to force the USSF to institute promotion and relegation in US Soccer. Two days later, it came out that the USSF had rejected the NASL's application to retain D2 beyond this year. Now the NASL, led by the Cosmos, has filed an antitrust lawsuit against the USSF in a desperate attempt to keep its D2 status. At its heart, the lawsuit is intended to challenge the USSF's minimum requirements for a second-division league, including the number of teams in the league, the geographic distribution of teams (how many time zones are covered), market size of the cities represented, each stadium capacity, and the minimum financial requirements for team owners. Now, the irony is that the NASL helped USSF write those guidelines back in 2010 in a deliberate attempt to shut out the USL, but has never been able to meet them. The biggest problem is that they've fallen short on the number of clubs; according to the standards. By year six they were supposed to have twelve clubs. This is their seventh season but only have eight, and one of them is threatening to fold if more people don't start showing up. This is a huge mess, and threatens to derail a growing sport. There's some pretty good summaries of the issues from people in the know here and here. Thoughts?
  19. Welcome to what is now my first completed concept series, the NHL City Mashup Series! In this series, I will be taking the identity of each NHL team and combining it with the identity of another team (different sport) in that team's city. Some rules I set for myself were Team must be in either the MLB, NBA, NFL, MLS, or CFL. The jersey must be in the style of the NHL team's jersey. The other team's colours will be the ones on the jersey. The fonts should be either the official team's font or a close matching font. Teams: Anaheim Ducks (Angels) Arizona Coyotes (Cardinals) Boston Bruins (Celtics) Buffalo Sabres (Bills) Calgary Flames (Stampeders) Carolina Hurricanes (Charlotte Hornets) Chicago Blackhawks (Cubs) Colorado Avalanche (Nuggets) Columbus Blue Jackets (Crew) Dallas Stars (Cowboys) Detroit Red Wings (Tigers) Edmonton Oilers (Eskimos) Florida Panthers (Heat) Los Angeles Kings (Dodgers) Minnesota Wild (Twins) Montreal Canadiens (Expos) Nashville Predators (Titans) New Jersey Devils (Jets) New York Islanders (Nets) New York Rangers (Knicks) Ottawa Senators (Redblacks) Philadelphia Flyers (Eagles) Pittsburgh Penguins (Pirates) San Jose Sharks (49ers) St Louis Blues (Cardinals) Tampa Bay Lightning (Buccaneers) Toronto Maple Leafs (Raptors) Vancouver Canucks (Whitecaps) Vegas Golden Knights (Raiders) Washington Capitals (Wizards) Winnipeg Jets (Blue Bombers) without further adieu, here's the first mashup, the Anaheim Angels in the style of the Anaheim Ducks. (Yes, I am aware they aren't the Anaheim Angels, but heck with that) C&C is appreciated! I am also considering doing throwback jerseys for each mashup, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the idea.

Onward - MLS to STL Expansion Bid

Here's a logo, some kits, and some mockups I put together for a potential MLS expansion team in St. Louis. After looking around a bit, the expansion might not be realistic, but I can dream, right? Anyways, here's what I made. *Arena mockups not mine *Arena mockups not mine *Arena mockups not mine And that's it! Keep in mind I didn't make any of the arena mockups, but the rest of the work is all mine. Rip it apart.

    MLS | LA Galaxy Rebrand

My goal (pun) was to simplify the current Major League Soccer's LA Galaxy primary logo a little more. So the word "GALAXY" has been replaced by, well, a galaxy! The 3-color quasar remains for reason of recognition value. Gone is the stereotype soccer shield which, I think, makes a nice change. MLS by Nike

I recently got a burst of inspiration when watching some soccer, to redesign the uniforms in the MLS. My main goal is to give each team a unique identity that could stand the test of time, as the MLS progresses into a bright future. Seeing as one day Nike may become interested in becoming the league's uniform provider, I used a Nike template modified for my use on paint.net. I plan on releasing a primary and clash kit for each team. Without further ado, the first team, Atlanta United. On the primary kit there is not a huge change, other than becoming predominately black, and adjusting to the Nike template. The Unite and Conquer slogan is featured on the back neck. I made Black is an emphasis for Atlanta United, due to an abundance of red in the MLS. That became a motivator for the clash kit. I envisioned this kit as almost an homage to the predominately black Falcons identity of the 90's and 2000's. Black and white has not been used by an MLS team in recent years and a new team like Atlanta could be just the team to do it. I will move on alphabetically with the next team being the Chicago Fire. Feedback and critique is appreciated.

    Miami MLS Concept

I created this mockup for David Beckham's proposed MLS team in Miami. A common trend that seems to be happening in the MLS right now is modeling a kit after the city's flag. I did this with the third kit pattering it after Miami's city flag. Please leave suggestions if I need to change anything. Thanks.
  25. Ever since Sporting KC came into MLS, they've had easily the best uniforms in the league. They had clean home and away looks that incorporated elements of their crest, and alternates that were always on point with the Sporting Argyle. Ever since they introduced the icy white alternate uniform, easily one of the best in MLS history, the league started cutting back on alternate kits. This year, the league did away with them completely. In general, I think Adidas has been a little too stripped back with uniforms, especially KC's. Sure they look sharp, but every team can gear up in pinstripes. With this concept, I wanted to get KC back to its roots with something that draws from the team's unique identity. I wanted to draw from the crest, and also figure out some way to incorporate the argyle. Here is what I came up with. For the primary, I went with the classic powder blue and navy look. The jersey features a navy striping design on half of the kit, similar to what Dortmund did a few years ago. The striping mimics the striping pattern on the club crest. The rest of the uniform is pretty orthodox, with the only other detail being the powder and dark powder striping on the socks. For the secondary, I was thinking of doing a navy uniform, but elected to bring back the all-black look instead. For the kit I decided to use a midnight blue and silver for the trim. For the jersey, I decided to bring my take to the Argyle motif, with a sublimated midnight blue argyle pattern across the chest. The same midnight blue appears on the bottom of the shorts as trim. The same sock pattern is on the alternate kit, instead in charcoal and black. Let me know what you think of the concept! All C&C is much appreciated.
