    NBA Changes 2018-19

I guess we're starting to look forward to the 2018-19 season with the recent news of the Charlotte Hornets wearing the white version of their classic throwbacks next year. Just on a side note, it'll be interesting to see if the Hornets follow that up in 2019-20 with their purple throwback jerseys? Obviously that's just speculation. As far as other changes at this point, I am not sure if we've heard anything else. I would assume more teams will wear classic throwbacks and we'll see a new wave of community jerseys since apparently those will be a yearly change for some if not all teams?

    NBA 2019 City Jersey Concepts

Just for fun. May turn in to a series. First up - Sacramento Kings. The baby blue, white, and red uniforms originally worn back in the 80's. Throughout the years the Kings have worn them as hardwood classic jersey and more recently they've been the inspiration behind the Kings' city uniforms. collage by NBA Uniforms Project, on Flickr I wanted to keep this trend going for the Kings. However, I also wanted to change it up a bit considering that we will likely see a new city uniform every year. For 2019/20 I designed the Kings city uniform to be predominately white. I was also inspired by the retro Kings' (Royals) jersey with bold simple piping. A little more modern by not including a wordmark - idea was that the colors and design should be easily identifiable. Retro Kings wordmark on shorts and regal emblem on waist band. Thoughts? C&C always appreciated. SacKingsCity by NBA Uniforms Project, on Flickr
  3. Hello all, I had done a brand refresh for the Knicks a while back, prior to the release of the Nike uniforms, but seeing as the Knicks are now in position come next year to be competitive once again (not gonna jinx anything), I decided to give the Knicks an extensive refresh to the team's brand. Colors: The new blue and orange are more reminiscent of the the shade in the teams past, becoming deeper and more pronounced. Silver is removed entirely in the color scheme. Primary Logo: A blend of both the Knicks' 70s logo and the logo from the Present (New York removed). The font is an updated version of the one they currently use. Secondary Logo: Simply a recolor of their current secondary with the silver outlining removed. Uniforms: The chest text on the jersey reverts to the old style the team had used since the 60s and are well known for. The silver outlining is removed entirely leaving only the white/blue and orange on the sleeves. The shorts receive a new side and waist pattern reminiscent of the 70s and 90s uniforms but reworked in color so it matches up with the pattern on the bottom of the shorts. The new primary is also added to the short where the old one was. I welcome any CC and general comments and I hope y'all like it!
  4. We have the Players in the "Wrong" Uniforms thread and within that thread I've seen a few "Right Team, Wrong Uniform" entries. I thought I'd separate the two, because it is an interesting topic of its' own. Here are a few to start the thread off with ... Charles Barkley, Preseason 1992, Phoenix Suns Matt Hasselbeck, 2001, Seattle Seahawks Jeff Bagwell, 1992, Houston Astros.

    Pittsburgh Peregrines

Well, it's been a long time since I've posted a logo concept on here. Now, I have a semester-long project in my project management class and I chose to put an NBA expansion team in Pittsburgh. The name I chose is the Pittsburgh Peregrines; named after the fastest flying animal on the planet. I am not the best at drawing, so I traced over the picture of the peregrine you will see below. I know right now it looks more like an illustration than a logo, and that's what I need your help with. What can I do to make it look more like Boston College's Eagle or UTSA's Roadrunner? Any help would be appreciated. I will also be posting other alternate logos and uniforms eventually. C&C much appreciated!
  7. I’m going to be sharing some NBA concepts I’ve been working on and tweaking for a while now. I started these almost two years ago when the first Nike designed uniforms came trickling out. I was a bit underwhelmed by many of them and started to work up my own. The time has come to share!I haven’t posted concepts on these boards in probably 5 years (and those were under an old username), so this should be fun! I'm here for the feedback, comments, and criticism so don't hold back! I want to make these better, so please help!I’ll start with basic icon/association/statement sets for each team and then loop back around at the end to get a bit more wild with the city, and maybe earned, sets if inspiration strikes. Before I get into it, major thanks to @Hoopladawg87 for sharing this template with me, and to all the other designers on these boards who keep putting out inspiring stuff - I find browsing here to be super motivational. 9. Hi! Not new here but it has been long since I finished my last concept... And now back with a NFL to NBA concept. First I want to thank @R3G for his amazing nike NBA template! Very user-friendly. The 1990s NBA jerseys seem to be controversial because of it's colors and details, and I would like to see how the NFL teams can fit into it. Since the Eagles unveiled their current set in 1990s so I decided to start with it. Inspired by the 1992-95 Hawks set and 1997-2011 Wizards set, which both have single-sided stripe and similar curved jersey logos. May back with the white/alt or I will start another new team. C&C is always appreciated!! Thanks for reading!! Edit: Lists: NFC East: #1 Eagles / #4 Giants / #21 Cowboys NFC West: #11 Seahawks / #17 Rams NFC South: #14 Falcons / #20 Panthers NFC North: #8 Vikings(v2) / #12 Lions / #19 Bears AFC East: #7 Patriots / #10 Dolphins / #13 Jets AFC West(finished): #5 Raiders / #16 Chargers / #24 Broncos / #25 Chiefs AFC South(finished): #3 Colts(v2) / #6 Jaguars / #22 Texans / #23 Titans AFC North(finished): #2 Ravens / #9 Steelers / #15 Browns #18 Bengals
  10. The Miami Heat brand is stale. Their logo style has been around since the eighties and their uni style has been around since the nineties. That's acceptable if you're a team like the Chicago Bulls, who have had the same beloved, iconic logo since their inception in the 1960's. Miami's Flaming-ball-through-basket logo has become almost iconic in it's own right, but most logos that have hung around as long as the Heat's become well-respected, regardless of imperfections. The Heat fans seem desperate for a change and have embraced the team's alternate Vice identity as strongly as America embraced Crockett and Tubbs in 1984. That's great and all, but a 30+ year old fanbase deserves a fresh, relevant basketball identity so that's what I sought to accomplish with this rebrand. Odes to Miami Days, Dusks, and Nights are included throughout as the main logo becomes sleeker, more abstract, and with more purpose. The colors are more current, bright pink and orange in, yellow out. There's also, I hope, a feeling of versatility in the different brand assets from the uniquely Miami neon set piece to a more hipster element seen in the repeating word mark and color ID. Cause the NBA. The static backgrounds are a small vaporware touch and the Billboard hangs on to a little bit of the Miami Vice alt. identity, which in this universe sticks around as a City 4th jersey. Thanks for Watching!

    Complete NBA Jersey History

Hey everyone! If you guys remember a while back I started on this NBA jersey database project that eventually spawned into a Tumblr. I need everyone's help again. I decided to ditch the old template with a newer, easier to edit, one. But I'm going to need a lot of help on how the jersey shape/length/belt/shorts evolved throughout the years. I did my own research and this is what I've come up with so far: (Note that the years indicated refer to the jerseys templates only and not the jerseys themselves) Ok. So for this first batch: I'm not sure when they stopped using belts for their shorts. I noticed on team photos that by 1956 the jerseys were a bit wider on the shoulders. It went even wider at 1968 with a new V-neck collar jersey at 1974. 1986 was when they added the NBA logo. For 1994 I widened the arm holes a bit more and made the shorts slightly longer. To anyone who knows more about this stuff, I'd be really grateful for some notes and criticism. Thanks everyone!

NBA Expands to Louisville; Version 2

This is something I have been toying with for a while. I wanted to do a non ABA Colonels, non horse themed KY team. I went with Troopers. There are two separate Army bases in Kentucky, which led me to a military-esque logo. The team would play in Louisville but would be branded the Kentucky Troopers. Navy and Gold instead of the ABA royal and red. I wanted to use gold more due to Fort Knox, but couldn't make it work in a way that wasn't corny.
  14. In honor of Opening Night, I decided to experiment and create a different style of Nike NBA jersey called the Legacy uniform. These involve a combination of different eras of the respective team combined into a single uniform. This means there are varying styles, colors, and logos. Below each uniform are the aspect of the uniform and the era it's correlated to. I'm starting this series off with some Atlantic Division teams: Boston Celtics: 1950s-60s: Chest text 1970s-90s: Number, pant logo 2000s-Present: Pant stripe, sleeve pattern Brooklyn Nets: 1960s-80s (As the New York/New Jersey Nets): Side pattern, pant logo Early-mid 1990s (As New Jersey Nets): Chest text 2000s: Uniform Color Present: Number font New York Knicks: Late 1960s-70s: Chest text, pant logo Mid 1980s-mid 1990s: Primary and Secondary colors, number font Late 1990s-Early 2010s: Uniform side design, sleeve pattern Present: Tertiary color The rest of the division and more will be coming soon, but let me know what you think!
  15. I searched through threads for the past year and couldn't find anything like this, so I figured I would post it. The idea behind this thread is to post interesting facts or statistics that a lot of people don't know. It'll essentially be the answers to trivia questions. I've got two interesting ones to start this thread off. The Minnesota Vikings were the first team to kick an extra point from the 15-yard line. Tom Brady has played two games at University of Phoenix Stadium, but he has never played the Cardinals there. The Pats have played two Super Bowls there, but only played the Cardinals at home since the stadium was built.

NBA Expansion Project: Tampa Bay Sharks

    please type your thoughts?
  17. Hey all, I decided to try and create retired number banners for current NBA players and their respective teams. These banners are based off the actual style of retired number banners the team uses (with exception to LAC and OKC since they havent retired any numbers yet). Justifications as to why I did or did not include certain players (HM=Honorable Mentions) are included below as well. I hope you think these are good and they are free to use and respond with any suggestions! I will be doing this series for the NHL as well after! ATLANTA: Joe Johnson (played majority of his all-star career with the organization and led them to many playoff births) HM: Josh Smith, Al Horford (neither put up good enough numbers) BOSTON: None No HM BROOKLYN: Vince Carter (All-star and leader for all of his nearly 6 years with the team), Brook Lopez (considering the Nets history of honoring long-tenured players and Lopez's solid numbers, it's very likely he'll see his number in the rafters) HM: Richard Jefferson, Deron Williams (neither were as effective as the other two players mentioned) CHARLOTTE: Kemba Walker (will be a multi-time all-star, a first for the "Hornets" in years) No HM CLEVELAND: LeBron James (OBVIOUS REASONS) HM: Mo Williams (not effective enough), Kevin Love (too early to call/not on team long enough), Kyrie Irving (went out on sour note) CHICAGO: Derrick Rose (a homegrown kid, multi-time all-star, and only the second Bulls player to win MVP outside of MJ) HM: Joakim Noah (DPOY but didn't do much outside of that and a few all-star appearances) DALLAS: Dirk Nowitzki (OBVIOUS REASONS) No HM DENVER: Carmelo Anthony (Denver scoring leader and put the team back on the map after years of futility) No HM DETROIT: None No HM GOLDEN STATE: Stephen Curry (OBVIOUS REASONS), Klay Thompson (leader and all-star for the current team, likely career Warrior), Draymond Green (top-tier defensive talent and leader for Warriors) HM: Kevin Durant (not on team long enough yet), Monta Ellis (not effective enough/bad teams) HOUSTON: James Harden (likely career Rocket, potential future MVP, and consistent all-star and team leader) No HM INDIANA: None HM: Paul George (left on sour note and didn't play with team long enough) LA CLIPPERS: Chris Paul (team leader and consistent all-star, delivering Clips to playoffs), Blake Griffin (career Clip, multi-time all-star, fashioned lob city era) HM: DeAndre Jordan (not effective enough) LA LAKERS: None HM: Pau Gasol (didn't play with team long enough and wasn't effective enough) MEMPHIS: Marc Gasol (all-star and Memphis' soft process on retired numbers) HM: Mike Conley (too early to call/not effective enough), Pau Gasol (didn't play on team long enough) MIAMI: Chris Bosh (sad story/way he went out, multi-time all-star), Dwyane Wade (OBVIOUS REASONS), LeBron James (brought in championships and was MVP with Heat) HM: Udonis Haslem (devoted, but not effective enough to pass Heat's lenient standards) MILWAUKEE: None HM: Giannis Antetokounmpo (too early to call) MINNESOTA: Kevin Love (multi-time all-star and double double leader) No HM NEW ORLEANS: Anthony Davis (Multi-time all-star and leader for Pels) HM: Demarcus Cousins (not on team long enough yet) NEW YORK: Carmelo Anthony (leader and all-star all 7 years on the team) No HM OKLAHOMA CITY: Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant (BOTH OBVIOUS REASONS) HM: James Harden (not on team long enough), Nick Collison (not effective enough, despite longest tenure) ORLANDO: None HM: Dwight Howard (disrespected team and city, very up in the air/not a guarantee) PHILADELPHIA: None No HM PHOENIX: N/A (do not have retired number banners) PORTLAND: Damien Lillard (multi-time all-star, leader, and likely career Blazer) HM: LaMarcus Aldridge (not on team long enough and not effective enough in time there) SAN ANTONIO: Manu Ginobili (career Spur and team leader), Tony Parker (see "Manu"), Kawhi Leonard (multi-time DPOY and all-star, new team leader) No HM SACRAMENTO: None HM: Demarcus Cousins (wasn't effective/respected enough in tenure, plus Kings' reluctance to retire numbers easily) TORONTO: Vince Carter (multi-time all-star and put Raptors on the map), Demar DeRozan (Canadian player, multi-time all-star, and career Raptor) HM: Kyle Lowry (too up-in-the-air) UTAH: None HM: Deron Williams (disrespected organization and not effective enough) WASHINGTON: John Wall (career Wizard, multi-time all-star and team leader) HM: Bradley Beal (too early to cal, no all-star appearances)

    NBA Literal Jersey Series

Hey all! Decided to do a fun jersey series during this NBA offseason. These fun alternate jerseys I will be making will all reflect the team name and team name only, as you will see, quite literally. I will be moving down in order of division in each conference and in order of city name in each division. I will kick this series off with these three teams: Boston Celtics: The same look as the Celtics' mascot Brooklyn Nets: Quite literally the weaving of a basketball net. New York Knicks: Since many of you may not know what a Knick is, its short for Knickerbocker, which is an older term for a New Yorker. Thus, the retro vest and tie top and brown pants. More will be coming soon if y'all like this series idea! Template credit to therealpepman
  20. Turning this into all of my NBA Concepts thread. Utah Jazz City Concept (this post) (V2) (Court) Dallas Mavericks Full Rebrand (V2) (City) So, to preface, I obviously based these off of the uniforms and logos this year, making them a ice-ey, snow-ey, mountain-ey version for next year. I think in general I did a good job, but I'd love to catch some feedback. If you want the template I made, I posted it here a while ago, and will be adding an updated version with the shorts soon. Anyway, let's jump in. I hate writing details to go with the uniforms/logos, so you can use your imagination on what I did for different things. One thing to note is that I used the Oquirrh mountain range for the right side striping (left looking at it in an image), and the Wasatch mountain range for the left side. I also took inspiration from the old Jazz all star logo to make the new snowflake logo. OK here it is. Snowflake logo Mountain-Note logo Version 1 Version 2 Version 3

    SuperSonics Return Court Concept

I used a template for the base of the court from here: http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/86113-basketball-court-psd/ i would have made the border lines yellow but how the template was made didn’t allow me to do so. So basically all I did was take the old Sonics logo and repainted it and removed the red and kept it two colors (excluding the white line) I also put the two S logos one on each side two symbolize the word super and sonic. And clearly I also added the space needle in the middle which I wanted to make it wood stain but it just didn’t work out with how much colored paint was used on the court so I made it a solid green. I tried making it both modern and old school with the old logo and the latest circle logos combined and also making the middle design abnormally big and removing any gradient for solid colors. (I would feel bad for anyone sitting on the opposite side of the court tho) tldr: combined the “present” and past. Past: old logo, enlarged design, excessive paint Modern: “present” Sonics logo, solid colors, keeping it two main colors
  22. a concept design I made. I know not a lot of people will like this because it’s so extra but I decided to put a lot of “extraness” to match the spirits of New Orleans during Mardi Gras. The skyline is the one if New Orleans and I put it on both the top and bottom for some symmetry. I also put the team name on the bottom instead because of the New Orleans vine design on the corners. I then bring back the old Nola logo and recolored it to a Mardi Gras color. Note: I am not a professional artist so please excuse some weird jagged up areas or ocd triggering details
  23. Yes, for 13 teams(to be 14 after tonight), the dream of the Lawrence F. O'Brien Trophy being in their hands is just that, a dream. Please to be discussing your next-season prospects here.
  24. When I was in my early teens, my parents bought me NCAA Football 98 for the computer. I really enjoyed the game, and it was very well-designed for the most part: 100+ schools; full-season play with rankings, major bowl games, and major awards; school fight songs; decent playbooks; something approximating logos on the helmets. It was a very good game for the late 1990s---not as good as the Football Pro series overall, but distinctly collegiate and lots of fun. Anyway, despite the overall quality, there were two details that I have since learned were wrong. One, LSU by default wears yellow jerseys over white pants at home in that game. Two, Missouri's colors are green and gold in the game instead of black and gold. (Come to think of it, I think the latter was also the case in that college hoops game for the Super Nintendo even earlier.) I was wondering: have you guys and gals noticed any similar errors in other games? (Incidentally, Football Pro 98 has the Eagles wearing kelly-green-and-gray even though they were in their second season with their current and inferior color scheme.)
  25. THIS IS VOL 1 VOL 2 VOL 3 VOL 4 VOL 5 League: NBA League Branding: Nike Team: New York Knicks Jersey Advertisement: Squarespace The Vision: Yesterday my return post was meant with great criticism. Majority of people hated my concept because it was to out there for them. I listened to the critics harsh words, and went back to the drawing board. For today's concept I wanted to once again create a nontraditional design, so what better league than the NBA. I once again choose an iconic New York team, this time it was the Knicks. Today I bring you a much better presentation as well. Thank you. Lifestyle Quote: "A snake will hiss, and a dog will bark. Animals are creatures of habit." -Kong Tom Team Quote: "To design for the Knicks, one must take the pride of the city to heart, and embrace it as their own." -Kong Tom I hope you enjoy, and please leave honest feedback. Thank you.
