  1. The recent Adidas reveal inspired me to start up a new series. Its been some time since I last did a concept. So, knocking off some ring rust in the first few. Edmonton Oilers Promoted the previous third while making some minor changes. Kept the current colors. Added third that is something I can see the team bringing in the near future.
  2. As much as I love the new Bolts logo and uniforms, when they're placed next to the Maple Leafs it REALLY drives home how similar the two are. While some clamored for the old set I honestly didn't like the striping and I prefer Tampa Bay as a blue base team as opposed to a black base. Nevertheless, black and silver need to comeback to distinguish the Bolts from the Leafs and so here we are One of my biggest pain points with the old set is that too much black weighed down the uniform. This is alleviated by keeping the black to a minimum secondary and brightening the blue. (It's for this reason there are sleeves on the road whites but not on the home blues. The primary logo stays almost the exact same as far as proportion but you can see the how the brighter blue pops allowing the use of black without added weight. The existing wordmarks would carry over just with the new blue used. So Tampa Bay...ready to stop looking like you're in Ontario?
  3. I thought it would be wise to create a separate thread for next season. What we know: -Adidas is taking over the production of the on-ice jerseys. Fanatics will produce the retail jerseys. -Alternate jerseys will not be worn during the 2017/18 season. -Edmonton Oilers will promote their orange 3rd jersey to full-time home status. Rumors: -New Jersey Devils are reported to have a redesign in store. -Washington Capitals are rumored to be returning to the retro jerseys full time. *edit- also if a mod could move the posts from the 2016/17 thread to this one, that would be cool.

So this is one of a couple concept ideas I've had in my head. We're always talking about Original 6 Dress up and that got reignited when Florida redid their uniforms which bear a resemblance to Montreal's so it made me wonder, what would the league look like if every team had a chest stripe like the Habs. It's a fairly simple idea, and each team will have something unique about them. It won't be just a Montreal jersey template in Vegas colors. For the moment I have no plans on doing alternates for the teams, but I plan on doing the special event games and the all star tournament, but we'll see how this goes and I might throw in alternates. I also wanted to do these on an Adidas template, but I didn't have it ready in time, so I used the closest Reebok collar I had to the Adidas ones and rolled from there. I'm going from bottom to top based on final regular season standings, so if you want to see how this will go, go here (https://www.nhl.com/standings) and you can follow along. With that being said, I have the first two teams ready, Colorado and Vancouver. For the Avalanche, I tried to make a mountain-style chest stripe but it didn't work out how I wanted it to so I used the old alternates as inspiration for a stripe and then added the mountain pattern on the bottom hem I ditched the Orca for the Canucks, using the stick in the rink, and the Johnny + V logo. Used the stripes from the alternate, which is consistent throughout to the pants and the socks. Kept the one color numbers. C&C welcome on these two
  5. I've prepared some NHL concepts where I try and refresh team branding and uniforms. I'm trying to make the rest of the league fall more in line with what I've come to expect from Adidas. All teams get *some* sort of change from their current (Reebok) uniforms, although a few don't see much change at all (ie. Flyers, Leafs). I will accept C&C but I don't plan on making revisions to the uniforms unless I really feel compelled. I will be adding "Marquee Matchups" where teams use special uniforms. This is where C&C would be most useful, in suggesting matchups, uniforms, revisions, etc. I will use this first post as a HUB for the concepts: Metropolitan Battle of New York (NYI v NYR) Keystone Classic (PHI @ PIT) Stevens' Cup (WAS + MIN @ NJD) Ohio Classic (PIT @ CBJ) Atlantic Tribute (NJD v PHI) All-American Clash (STL v NYR) Atlantic Battle of Ontario (TOR v OTT) Governor's Cup (FLA v TBL) All-American Clash (WAS v DET) International Classic (BOS @ MTL) Norris Cup (CHI v DET) Hartford Classic (CAR v BUF) Central All-American Clash (NSH v COL) International Classic (VAN @ CHI) All-American Clash (MIN v STL) Battle of Wisconsin (MIN v CHI) All-Canadian Clash (TOR v WPG) Star Series (MIN v DAL) Pacific California Series (ANA + SJS @ LAK) Battle of Alberta (CGY v EDM) Battle of the Desert (ARI v VGK) Marquee of '93 (FLA v ANA) All-American Clash (VGK v LAK) Pacific Territories (SJS v VAN)
  6. Welcome to what (hopefully) is my first completed concept series, the NHL City Mashup Series! In this series, I will be taking the identity of each NHL team and combining it with the identity of another team (different sport) in that team's city. Some rules I set for myself were Team must be in either the MLB, NBA, NFL, MLS, or CFL. The jersey must be in the style of the NHL team's jersey. The other team's colours will be the ones on the jersey. The fonts should be either the official team's font or a close matching font. Teams: Anaheim Ducks (Angels) Arizona Coyotes (Cardinals) Boston Bruins (Celtics) Buffalo Sabres (Bills) Calgary Flames (Stampeders) Carolina Hurricanes (Charlotte Hornets) Chicago Blackhawks (Cubs) Colorado Avalanche (Nuggets) Columbus Blue Jackets (Crew) Dallas Stars (Cowboys) Detroit Red Wings (Tigers) Edmonton Oilers (Eskimos) Florida Panthers (Heat) Los Angeles Kings (Dodgers) Minnesota Wild (Twins) Montreal Canadiens (Expos) Nashville Predators (Titans) New Jersey Devils (Jets) New York Islanders (Nets) New York Rangers Ottawa Senators Philadelphia Flyers Pittsburgh Penguins San Jose Sharks St. Louis Blues Tampa Bay Lightning Toronto Maple Leafs Vancouver Canucks Vegas Golden Knights Washington Capitals Winnipeg Jets without further adieu, here's the first mashup, the Anaheim Angels in the style of the Anaheim Ducks. (Yes, I am aware they aren't the Anaheim Angels, but heck with that) C&C is appreciated! I am also considering doing throwback jerseys for each mashup, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the idea.
  7. We have the Players in the "Wrong" Uniforms thread and within that thread I've seen a few "Right Team, Wrong Uniform" entries. I thought I'd separate the two, because it is an interesting topic of its' own. Here are a few to start the thread off with ... Charles Barkley, Preseason 1992, Phoenix Suns Matt Hasselbeck, 2001, Seattle Seahawks Jeff Bagwell, 1992, Houston Astros.
  8. So a few years ago when the Sharks were hosting a Stadium Series game against the Kings, I came up with a concept of what they might wear. Many people said it should be used as the full-time set. However, others said that the colors meshed too much and it bogged down the design. So, with Adidas set to unveil the uniforms tomorrow, I thought I'd throw my design in what I would hope the Sharks would do. Granted, I'm not expecting much. I'd be pleasantly surprised if there was something even close to this. Shoulder patches were left blank as I didn't know which one they were going to go with. I just saw that reveal in the teaser trailer this afternoon. So the orange could be removed, but I might actually be getting used to the orange...oh my, what is happening!
  9. To welcome hockey to Vegas, MGM Resorts has been tweeting logos for a concept all-Vegas league. The Sharks, Royals, and Mavericks aren't bad. http://bit.ly/ViewAllTeams
  10. Hello. I am an animator and video editor and I have been working on and off on a logo redesign project for the better part of a year now (with long stretches of inactivity) as a way to get better at illustrator and I thought I would make an account here for some critique. I started really getting in to logo design when I came across a black and white and horribly pixelated design for a Fleur De Lis that I thought could be made into a St. Louis Blues logo, and after contacting the owner of the shop and asking about it and if I could mess with it, I did. I didn't really think it worked well as a main logo, but I did think it worked as a shoulder patch. I did it in a couple other colors as well and took the wordmark from the actual St. Louis Blues sheet music after an idea from the kind folks on the Blues subreddit. Over a year later I thought I decided I needed to get better at illustrator so I started designing alternate/shoulder logos for the rest of the league. I'm "done" with about 1/4 of the league at this point. Please let me know what you think and I would love to hear suggestions on what I need to improve on, but keep in mind I dont really know what I am doing. Also, if there is a better way to format this let me know. St. Louis Original: Wordmark: Colors: Revision: I did Minnesota next, where I thought a roundel logo would look cool. I did two variants of the same logo and one that was a riff on their main logo. 1: 2: 3: Colorado This one I actually think could stand up as a main logo. I got rid of their ugly "Millennium swoops' Winnipeg Classic colors: Modern Colors: Toronto: based on the city of Toronto's flag Ottowa: I wanted to play off their older logo that everyone loves so much without just making it an exact copy Revision: Buffalo: I took the crossed swords from their red logo days and put them behind the skull I drew. Penguins: I replaced the iconic triangle with a Pennsylvania keystone. Hopefully that doesn't make me a heretic.

  12. Skip to end of series for all 32 teams together After just finishing up my NFL series, I've decided to tackle the NHL. Like my last thread, my goal here is to tastefully modernize without going too crazy. Some of the designs will be a complete overhaul, while some will just be minor changes to perfect the look. Also, I will be expanding the league by 2 teams in the West. One in the Central and one in the Pacific to even out both conferences to 16 teams. I'm not going in any particular order here so these will just come as I have ideas and finish. As always, C&C is greatly appreciated and I hope you all enjoy! 1/32 -- Winnipeg Jets First up is the Winnipeg Jets. Jets fans have always taken their hockey seriously and have a very strong brand and sense of pride in their team. I wanted to go with a classic/sleek design here. When the Jets released their sweaters, I was never a fan of the double blue. In my concept below, I have removed the lighter shade of blue. Also of note, I removed the shoulder patches. While I really do like the logo, I have decided that the design works better without them. Home/Road/Alternate Sweater The home jersey is primarily dark blue. The jersey crest remains unchanged. Striping is consistent on the sleeves and the waistline. It features a thick white bottom stripe with a thinner silver stripe above. Numbers are white with a silver outline. Collar is two toned with silver on the top and white on the bottom. The collar laces have also been removed as I feel like the pointed collar ties in better with the sharpness. The away sweater is much like the home with white becoming the primary. New here is a blue yoke which comes down to a point just above the sleeve numbers as opposed to the traditional rounded yoke. I feel that this blends well with the design, especially the tip of the Jet in the logo. Numbers are now blue with a silver outline. The third sweater is a white alternate. I thought this would be fitting and they could wear it for special occasions such as "White outs" as they have had in the past. Essentially it is the road jersey with the Jets wordmark angled across the front.
  13. Here is a jersey mock-up I did awhile back and two different iterations of it I've done recently.
  14. It's been ages since I've really had the time to focus on some NHL stuff. There are a number of concepts just lying around in one of my folders that I've never really put any finishing touches on (i.e. sleeve numbers, adding helmets, pants, socks, etc), so I thought it was time I finish them and put on a little more polish. I prefer to use the old CCM paint templates because I find them easier to use, what being incredibly horizontal. They are a bit bulky, but unlike the Edge templates, I find there's more space utilize. I have Reebok'd them, though, they will have the Reebok tags and Edge collars, but I streamlined them, so they will all have the same basic collar template, which I'll concede is lame on my end. Right now I only have four teams ready but I am hoping to polish off about ten or eleven over the next few days. They're not in any discernible order either, sorry. 15. With all the new stuff happening in the NHL, here's a few ideas to kick around...
  16. After a few teasers and a look at Vegas' draft hat, I've decided to put together a last minute prediction for the Golden Knight's jerseys. C&C is welcome.
  17. Back in 2016 I started a new hand drawn series that unfortunately stalled at 18 concepts. Dwindling inspiration, dissatisfaction with some the concepts and the decision to add helmet designs made me pull the plug and take a much needed break. Now I am back with a new series that I am truly proud of. I can say with complete confidence that I have given this new series every thing I have. I began working on new concepts at the start of 2017 and work has continued to this day. All 31 teams will be tackled and I plan on posting a new concept each day. Currently, 25 teams are completed so there will not a drop-off in material as there was on my last thread. I will kick things off with a team that just made its first Conference Final. Nashville Predators The Predators almost got things perfect with their 2011 redesign but a few bad decisions have them currently sitting in the middle of the pack. I removed the unnecessary piping and went with simple, traditional stripes. The Predators made gold more prominent on their road socks in 2013 so I decided to apply this change to the rest of the road uniform. It was tempting to go with a Navy alternate but I really wanted to make them the de-facto Gold team. The alternate adds silver to tip the hat to the pre 2011-look and the 3D logo has received a simplification in the same vein as the current primary. C & C welcome, thanks for looking .
  18. Good evening CCSLC! Now, I do believe that this is attempt number three at redesigning the NHL. However, I am determined to actually finish this time. Unlike other failed attempts, wherein I would design one concept, post, wait for C&C and then move on, this time I've actually completed almost half of the NHL in preparation. I've been working on this project for the past month or so, I've really been having a lot of fun with it and I'm moving at a pretty steady pace so I feel as though I can actually make it through the league. What I really wish for this thread is a lot of active discussion, comments, and critique so that I may hone my skills at designing. I'd like to keep this organized, so I'll get started with some guidelines of what I'll be posting. Also, as a note: I haven't found an Adidas template compatible with the program I use (PAINT.net) so I chose to simply use the Reebok Edge template found in the Paint Users Paradise thread. I have, however, added an Adidas tag to the inside that I drew up. Outline All teams I complete will have some alteration to their logo and/or color scheme that I will point out with each concept. Note: These changes could be as small as a color adjustment to a complete logo overhaul. I will only be posting two uniforms per team: Home (color), Away (white) No team will use more than two logos. This is pretty standard in the NHL. However, we do see teams with all kinds of logos with their set. If I include a logo in the set, it will appear on the uniform. I see no need to include more since this is simply a logo/uniform project and not a complete identity project. NHL shield logos will be recolored in respective team colors. Teams will be posted in no real order, simply which concept I would like comments on at that time. Please, no comments just requesting the next team. Some critique on the concept would be appreciated. Okay, first up: ARIZONA COYOTES - 4.3.17 Logos: I really loved the Coyotes inaugural set. The kachina pattern was very unique to the team and even though it made it's debut in the 90s, it wasn't a concept that was overbearing or gaudy. However, and, as unpopular an opinion it may be, I really like Arizona's current logo and uniform set. I have made some changes to the logo, though. Replacing black is a darker brick red and I have turquoise to the color scheme, drawing inspiration from the art of the Pueblo which is wherein the initial kachina pattern derived. The alternate 'A' paw logo underwent no changes other than, of course, the color scheme. Uniforms: Again, the kachina pattern was my favorite part of the Coyotes inaugural set. The logo to me was fine, but I actually like the current better. I tried my hand at a custom kachina pattern that is only adorned on the hem as I thought that adding it the the sleeves as well made it a bit busy. If you look closely, you'll notice that within the pattern are crossed hockey sticks in the darker brick red color. The shoulders stripes are very loosely based on the current uniforms. Thanks for checking these out! C&C is greatly appreciated!
  19. ...now, here's a new logo that isn't complete naff.
  20. Trying to play with something I always thought would work for the Bolts. I like the secondary they have now, but I just thought this could be a tertiary, or if they ever make the secondary the primary. I tried to do my own bevel...but I kinda got stuck. So I'm providing two examples, one with the unfinished bevel and one without. Its still a work in progress. Let me know what you think, any advice, changes that need to be made. Thanks.
  21. Hello all, This is my first concept on the boards. I made this one quite a while ago, but have not decided to post it until now. I'm not very tech savvy and so just used Google Drawings to make this and so it doesn't all line up quite the way I'd like. As the name 'Nordiques' means 'northerners', I decided to play off that and make it the shape of a compass. The fleur-de-lis represents the province of Quebec and also helps form the tip of the compass. The red border of the compass forms the shape of the letter 'Q' for Quebec. The 'N' and the 'Q' in the logo are quite helpful for making a wordmark, especially since in french the team is 'Les Nordiques de Qu├ębec' (the 'N' before the 'Q')
  22. I searched through threads for the past year and couldn't find anything like this, so I figured I would post it. The idea behind this thread is to post interesting facts or statistics that a lot of people don't know. It'll essentially be the answers to trivia questions. I've got two interesting ones to start this thread off. The Minnesota Vikings were the first team to kick an extra point from the 15-yard line. Tom Brady has played two games at University of Phoenix Stadium, but he has never played the Cardinals there. The Pats have played two Super Bowls there, but only played the Cardinals at home since the stadium was built.
  23. Mr. Foley, (the billionaire that's picking up most of the tab for the Las Vegas NHL project), has repeatedly stated that he prefers the name "Black Knights" for the Vegas hockey team. He's the man, so I've attempted a concept using Mr.Foley's choice of name and colours.
  24. This is a series I've started on another app. It's my ideal uniforms for each team created on NHL17. This is my first ever topic, so be generous with the C&C please, but feedback/criticism is welcomed. Enjoy!
  25. This is just some uniforms i came up with. Some are just random teams, some are based on real teams and also how i wish their uniforms were. This is my first time posting concepts, so just ignore the format i have them in, i will change it as time passes. Im also aware that the photos are blurry, just bare with me please. C&C is appreciated
