  1. Hello. I am an animator and video editor and I have been working on and off on a logo redesign project for the better part of a year now (with long stretches of inactivity) as a way to get better at illustrator and I thought I would make an account here for some critique. I started really getting in to logo design when I came across a black and white and horribly pixelated design for a Fleur De Lis that I thought could be made into a St. Louis Blues logo, and after contacting the owner of the shop and asking about it and if I could mess with it, I did. I didn't really think it worked well as a main logo, but I did think it worked as a shoulder patch. I did it in a couple other colors as well and took the wordmark from the actual St. Louis Blues sheet music after an idea from the kind folks on the Blues subreddit. Over a year later I thought I decided I needed to get better at illustrator so I started designing alternate/shoulder logos for the rest of the league. I'm "done" with about 1/4 of the league at this point. Please let me know what you think and I would love to hear suggestions on what I need to improve on, but keep in mind I dont really know what I am doing. Also, if there is a better way to format this let me know. St. Louis Original: Wordmark: Colors: Revision: I did Minnesota next, where I thought a roundel logo would look cool. I did two variants of the same logo and one that was a riff on their main logo. 1: 2: 3: Colorado This one I actually think could stand up as a main logo. I got rid of their ugly "Millennium swoops' Winnipeg Classic colors: Modern Colors: Toronto: based on the city of Toronto's flag Ottowa: I wanted to play off their older logo that everyone loves so much without just making it an exact copy Revision: Buffalo: I took the crossed swords from their red logo days and put them behind the skull I drew. Penguins: I replaced the iconic triangle with a Pennsylvania keystone. Hopefully that doesn't make me a heretic. Revision: I put the penguin in a complete keystone and I like it, but I still think the half keystone looks better. Lightning: Honestly something's missing from this one, but everything I add makes it look worse so I decided to ask you all what you think. the L works pretty good but it seems empty. Again, these aren't really meant to replace the logo front of the jersey, most are meant to be shoulder patches, but this one feels empty. Wordmark: I thought trying to make it a wordmark would work a little bit better, and it does in some aspects, but it feels really empty still. Canadiens: I took the Fleur from the Montreal flag and tried to turn it in to an "M"which I think works pretty well, but I do think it needs some more polishing. I don't really like this better than their current logo but I think something like it could work as a shoulder patch 1: 2: Stars: I took their old star logo and updated the colors and added a recolored Texas flag. Then I removed the wordmark and had the star go through the middle of a D in the same style as the other letters 1: 2: After a bit of a hiatus, I am back. I took the Spirit of Detroit and added wings to it. I am not sure if I want to add something in his hands but I am pretty proud of this logo I have had this Preds logo in my back pocket for a little while now, its super simple and is kind of a combination of their shoulder patch and chest logo. I plan on doing another one for the Preds as well but I thought I'd post this one just to get an idea of what you guys think
  2. The Kings miniseries went so well, I'm doing it again, this time with the Penguins! Like last time, I'm taking various styles the Pens have worn in their history, and sort of jumbling up which logos and colors are used, and also giving the Pens a suitable opponent and giving them similar treatment. Here's the itinerary: 60s Night: vs Rangers 70s Night: vs. Barons Blue Jackets 80s Night: vs Capitals 90s Night: vs Sabres 2K Night: vs Senators possible bonus nights: 90s Alt Night (TBD), Pittsburgh Hornets Night (likely vs. Flyers) So without further ado, 60s Night vs. the New York Rangers As is already known, what's old is new again as the Pens return to yellow gold...and here, the Pens' jersey uses the striping from the original set from 1966, only in the current colors. Took a little liberty by using shoulder crests at all...and now to the Broadway Blueshirts, whose set is red-heavy...because I felt like giving you something to complain about Seriously, though, picking a 60s opponent was tricky. I didn't want to dip into the opposite conference if I can help it, I don't want to use a given opponent more than once, and given these are for THIS season, the opponent kinda needs to be a current NHL team, albeit the history being dipped into doesn't necessarily need to be from the NHL (I'm leaning towards Blues and Stars series after this one, and I'm likely gonna dip into the WHA and a southern minor league or two). Far as the 60s go, the only Original 6 teams that look noticeably different from how they do now are the Leafs and Bruins, and not by a whole lot. Hell, I'm mildly surprised I was able to squeeze anything out of the Rangers, given how rarely they've strayed from their diagonal script. Later on, 70s Night vs. the Blue Jackets as the Barons...til then, speak on it.
  3. Hello all! It's that time of year when men and women everywhere draft what they believe to be the perfect fantasy football dream team, name it something quirky, and then take seat in Deadlastville with little hope ahead. Or is that just me? Well, at least my team will hopefully look good doing it! I'd always wanted to carve out an identity for a fantasy football team of mine, but never got around to it until now. Earlier this year, I came up with this fun little idea of a football-carrying penguin. It soon evolved into a logo, the team colors, then uniforms, and then finally a home as my fantasy team's identity - the Provo Penguins! I wanted to mix a little quirkiness into a timeless classic here, as if the team has existed since 1961 or something and hasn't changed much since. You get the poundin' penguin (nicknamed Paul by the "loyal Provo faithful") atop a simple, straightforward, double-blue uniform inspired by the olden days. No wacky combos or a million pairs of pants; whether home or away, you know exactly what you're getting. And speaking of what you're getting, here you go! Primary - "Paul the Penguin" Alternate Paul - helmet only (white football for better visibility against powder blue) Uniforms - Home/Away More aspects of the identity may come later, such as the field, t-shirts/hats/gear, and (possibly) a second pair of pants (though I'm super hesitant as I love the simplicity of two sets). There was a set of powder blue pants they wore in the 70's that noted news anchor Ron Burgundy reportedly loved... Anyways, there you go! Thanks for viewing and POUND 'EM PENS!
  4. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have unveiled new uniforms for the upcoming season on August 8th. They'll be wearing uniforms exactly the same as the NHL Penguins (their parent organization), except they'll have their own version of a 'skating penguin on Gold triangle logo' as the crest, and their primary logo as a patch on the shoulders. There will be no changes made to the team's primary logo. P.S - IMO they really should use the crest logo as their primary. Maybe in the near future?
  5. It's been awhile since I last posted on this site so decided to comeback with some more NHL related concepts. For this series the goal is not to be an accurate predictor of future Stanley Cup match ups and is more of a fictionalized telling of yet to be played finals. This series is also intended to conform with the continuity of @timberwolf's Champions League of Hockey series, which I was a part of. I will post a brief description of each team's route to the finals and the finals themselves in addition to the concepts. I'm also contemplating adding rosters for each team so comment below if you want see them. Template credits go to Matt McElroy and Josiah Bosch. First up it's the 2022 Stanley Cup featuring the defending champion Anaheim Ducks and upstart Pittsburgh Penguins.
  6. Stanley Cup Final Phone Wallpapers

Made these phone wallpapers this morning since it all starts tonight, go Sharks!
  7. Earlier today, I saw jaha32's excellent bulldog concept logo. He mentioned that lots of schools use the same few stock bulldog logos for their programs. I spun that concept into a logo for a youth hockey league that, instead of stealing a pro logo, integrates a pro logo into an original design. I might give this a shot with more logos soon... any feedback is appreciated!
  8. Penguins vs Flyers Stadium Series 2017

Hey all. I'm back. I drafted up a concept for the 2017 outdoor game between the Penguins and Flyers in Pittsburgh. I do not like a lot of the elements used in these jerseys simply because I dont like a lot of the stadium series templates. I feel they are a bit to modern. However I tried to make these accurate to what the NHL might want in a stadium series jersey. C&C is welcomed and appreciated.
  9. WBS Penguins Logo Concept

Hey Guys! Today I am sharing my Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins logo concept. Its not that different from the logo they have now but I wanted an effective and simple logo. I hope you guys like it! C&C Welcome!
  10. Hey guys, I'd love to get your feedback on this simple throwback I made for the Pittsburgh Penguins to wear. It dons the crest of NHL team the Pittsburgh Pirates of the late 20's and early 30's. I think I may want to add more to this jersey to make it more unique. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know!
  11. New Pittsburgh Penguins Logo

I decided to put my Canadian City Flag Soccer thread on hold for a few days, (it can be found right here), and I slightly modernized the Penguin's old logo. I smoothed out the lines, and made it look a little more fierce. Let me know what you think.
  12. This concept is one of the few little practice projects I've started and decidedto finish. I've always hated the Penguins vegas gold. It's just nasty. Athletic gold is better suited, IMO. It always looked good. Here I decided to go with a pretty simple design that pays homage to some of their older sets. The most obvious inspiration comes from the Pens sets from the '80s. The gold sleeves aren't exactly my favorite on the white jersey, but I've always loved the black jersey (their current throwback). I switched up the striping a little bit to make the white jersey a little bit less gold-heavy. I think the color distribution is a bit more appealing in this case. I've tried out a pointed shoulder yoke seam, which accentuates the alternate logo, as well as very subtly paying homage to my favorite set (pointed yokes from the '92-'02 set). The alternate logo is just an idea I was messing around with. I wanted to use a triangular logo on the shoulder, but they've always lacked secondary logos. I wanted to stay far away from using a roundel logo. C&C Please
  13. Penguins NHL Alternate Jersey

Hey all I made a jersey for the Pens to wear as an alternate. These are inspired by the Pittsburgh Steelers jerseys of the 1970's Feedback and CC always welcome. EDIT: This template comes from the incredible MrWonka So shout out to him and his awesome work!
  14. Penguins Jersey Concept

Hey Guys! As a Penguins fan, it was a shock to hear about new sweaters with the classic gold, so here is what we thought it could look like. Hope you like this one! C&C Welcome! The away jerseys are the same as home but the black and white are swapped.
  15. Penguis 3rd Jersey

With the Pens bringing out a new alternate jersey next year, I decided to take a stab at what I'd like to see. The "robo-penguin" logo was unique. It deserved more love. I feel the logo works well with this design. Let me know what you think.
  16. Since the end of the winter classic alts, the pens only wear their black home and white away jerseys. I took inspiration from the new Calgary Flames alternates. I used an older wordmark the pens used in the late 80's early 90's. The alternate logo I based off of a Baltimore Ravens logo, and I updated the "Vegas Gold" in the color scheme. C & C please!
  17. Hi all. This is my first concept so c/c is very welcome. I went for a classic, clean looking jersey because I love the old fashioned kind of look. However I used the newer "Vegas Gold" to try to modernize it and keep the Penguin identity unique.
  18. Hockey logo designs, especially from NHL, have been my passion since childhood. I chose some franchises, which have great logo themes, but their current stylization could be more interesting. more here: http://www.behance.n...-part-1/8013305 I appreciate any constructive feedback, I want to hear some words from people, who have also passion in this stuff Feel free to share these concepts, you can also contact me, if you´re interested in my work.
  19. After seeing all the talk about the Penguins dropping their blue thirds and where they should go from their current edge jerseys led me down some new paths. I learned some things: The 90s Cup-era jerseys, which are what I'd like to see back, are not as popular as I thought. The mid-90s robo-Penguin is surprisingly popular. Mario hates it though. The 80s gold is popular, but nowhere near unanimously loved. Which is good, because Mario HATES it. The pre-edge jerseys were beloved, and so was the metallic vegas gold. So, I looked back over the Pens' history and got some inspiration. I didn't want to ignore the current jerseys, which have had their own era, and I didn't want to adopt an older jersey. I liked the triangles of the pre-edge jerseys, I wanted to bring them back. I also looked way back to the 70s and the jerseys not yet brought back, particularly those 1974 jerseys where they had an unexpected cup run. There have been triangle sleeves angled in all directions, but the pre-edge era make more sense in the age of sleeve numbers and patches all over. But I didn't want to simply bring back those jerseys in total. In time, I realized something: Those socks haven't changed since the initial return of the skating penguin. the Flyers based a jersey on their socks, and that was far, FAR more random. Why not the Pens? Plus, that made the jerseys far more versatile. You could use that template for anything, black with athletic gold, athletic gold with black, or any combination of blues. This is what I went with. The Pens have a habit of implementing jerseys as a third and then promoting it. That's my plan here. The new Pens' third jersey: With a new shoulder patch, made from a few key pieces: Who doesn't love the scarf? Put an 80s angry eye on it, close the beak because it looked too nice with it open, and eliminate the lines that were allegedly the result of a sponsorship deal from Mellon Bank. Then, that third can be promoted, and this can be introduced with it: and eventually, because Mario loves the blue, a third jersey. I thought of normal white shoulders, but these seemed so much more appropriate. The vegas gold did not look good with it, so I went old school. The clashing logo just looks so old timey. The only question was to use the secondary or the primary. This is the secondary version, I can post the other if asked. Thoughts? C&C?
