Jj... posted a topic in ConceptsI've prepared some NHL concepts where I try and refresh team branding and uniforms. I'm trying to make the rest of the league fall more in line with what I've come to expect from Adidas. All teams get *some* sort of change from their current (Reebok) uniforms, although a few don't see much change at all (ie. Flyers, Leafs). I will accept C&C but I don't plan on making revisions to the uniforms unless I really feel compelled. I will be adding "Marquee Matchups" where teams use special uniforms. This is where C&C would be most useful, in suggesting matchups, uniforms, revisions, etc. I will use this first post as a HUB for the concepts: Metropolitan Battle of New York (NYI v NYR) Keystone Classic (PHI @ PIT) Stevens' Cup (WAS + MIN @ NJD) Atlantic Battle of Ontario (TOR v OTT) Governor's Cup (FLA v TBL) All-American Clash (WAS v DET) International Classic (BOS @ MTL) Norris Cup (CHI v DET) All-Canadian Clash (WIN v TOR) Central All-American Clash (NSH v COL) International Classic (VAN @ CHI) All-American Clash (MIN v STL) Pacific California Series (ANA + SJS @ LAK) Battle of Alberta (CGY v EDM) Battle of the Desert (ARI vs VGK)
The Colorado Rockies changing their primary logo from the mountains to the interlocking CR is a lateral move for a brand than needs to be refreshed. The core concept is strong but it definitely feels dated. So here's my swing (sorry) at a Rockies update. Silver is eliminated from the logo and purple takes center stage. The mountains are cleaned up while still feeling rugged. The proportions of the new logo and the old are almost exactly the same--I designed the new logo on top of the old one--but the half roundel is thinned and the ball is given a clear launching direction, breaking through the atomosphere. I designed a purple monochrome version of this logo which I think looks better, but since I do plan to use black in the uniforms , I felt it'd be better to have black feature in the logo as well. My biggest complaint of the Rockies current set is that awful font. I hate how it looks like the CR is silver with a too thick black inner outline. The new CR originally had a black outline but thinking on some classic hats (Yankees, Dodgers, Reds) a solid color on a contrasting color looks great by itself. Again, in addition to refreshing the look, the goal is to make the new bold purple the main character. Proportionally the new CR is just a little taller than the old. Wordmarks use the same fonts as the primary and don't look like a too thick black inner outline was applied. Cool! Uniforms coming soon but here we are!
James Madison University, an FCS team in Virginia, has refreshed their logos to flatten them out a bit. No major changes, but just some updates to bring them into 2017. Old: New: Old: New: They have also debuted some new wordmarks, in addition to the JMU logo released above:
This is a project I started working on a couple weeks ago. I planned on simply redesigning each team's logo, but instead I decided I would just go ahead and redesign each team's uniform as well. Some teams will obviously need more reworking than others, but I will be changing the logo for every NFL team. I will also be completely renaming the Washington Redskins. Each team will have the following: A primary & secondary logo A custom wordmark Anywhere from 3-5 uniforms, with some having a throwback or fauxback, I'll be doing it by division, and the AFC South is first up. The first redesign is for the Tennessee Titans. I think the Titans have one of the most stale brands in the entire NFL. Since they've switched to the Titans nickname, their logo and uniform design have both been basically stagnant. This is probably the main reason why I started with them. So here's my take. Primary Logo: The primary logo is based on the mask/face of a warrior. Working under the "Titans" nickname, I think this was a good representation of the name. Although some may not like the personification of the Titan, I think it came out nice and I couldn't pass up the chance to incorporate the TT into the logo in the warrior's mask. Secondary Logo: The secondary logo is based on a shield, and it moves away from the personification of the primary logo. This is more prominent on the uniforms than the primary. Wordmark: Uniforms: To be honest, I think the Titans have some of the most stale and old uniforms in the NFL, and they're overdue for an update. I brought back a more true-to-history throwback from the Oilers era. As for the primary uniforms, I updated and simplified the look, and implemented the bevel from the word mark and logo for brand consistency. C&C Appreciated Next up: Indianapolis Colts
