  1. For the fourth year in a row, NASCAR will celebrate its heritage by teams running throwback paint schemes at the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway in Darlington, SC. The practice started in 2015 when NASCAR moved the classic race to its traditional Labor Day Weekend slot on the schedule after a decade of wandering the calendar. These are the schemes that have been unveiled so far. 2018 NASCAR Southern 500 Throwback Weekend Paint Schemes
  2. In my opinion, one of the best looks in baseball is an off-white home uniform. Because of this, I really liked the Cool Base Ivory fashion jerseys that were introduced a few years ago, despite not being a fan of every design. I recently stumbled upon '47 Brand's Two Tone Clean Up caps which were also off-white and featured retro team logos. I figured these caps would look good paired with uniform designs inspired by the Cool Base jerseys, which gave me the idea for this series. I took some creative liberty here and there (for instance, I was definitely not going to use the "cracked out" Tiger logo) and ended up pretty happy with the results. This will be a quick series, so I'll be positing each division at once. Let's start with the AL East! ORIOLES: RED SOX: YANKEES: RAYS: BLUE JAYS: C&C appreciated. AL Central is up next!

Connecting Old & New Broncos Fans

Hey all, this is my first post on this forum in over 2 years. I'm working on a class assignment that asks us to create a brand that appeals to all generations. I decided to pick Denver because if you ever go to (I'm forever calling it) Mile High Stadium, you'll notice there is an internal fan base battle over the new navy and orange color scheme versus the traditional blue and orange from the OG Elway days. I just took some screenshots of the concepts and logo I have created so far because I'm really looking for some C&C on the next steps before I fully turn this into a presentable concept and project. So before I can waste anymore of your time.. Here is my idea. Blend both the Navy and traditional blue into a color scheme that works, evolve the new bronco head with the very famous "D" that has previously been introduced in their most recent Color Rush, and throw in some millennial sprinkles like a mountain and red rocks shadows in the numbering to give everyone a little taste of what they want the Broncos to look like. Again, C&C is very much appreciated! This would be the Broncos Alternate and "Color Rush" The Blue Color Rush and Alternate jersey's should design would be based off the City of Denver Flag. I removed the Sun from the jersey because of Nike's swoosh placement in the NFL. Up Close rough mockup featuring Nike's now famous sublimation pattern of Red Rocks Amphitheater.
  4. (Updated) I have updated the main post so the finalized renderings are seen first. (Still debating over final numbers. Both based off current Eagles font, but modified) Here is the remainder of the blog for how the above were created. Look through and comment I will update the finals if suggestions and changes are warranted. **** ORIGINAL POST BELOW ***** Okay, I've heard lots of talk about modernizing a throwback classic Eagles uniform but haven't seen any good renderings for what the single vision is for this. So, I took the time and created a one. There is too much discussion to me about "Kelly Green". It's more than that. It's bringing back tradition and having an identity that the loyal fan base can relate to. Lots of Kelly Green advocates seem to just want the "old" back. And this annoys the Millennials who don't care about the past...preferring cool. I just want green back (not some hipster made up color) and would love to see a return of silver. To me, the Eagles' colors should be green, silver and white. Agree??? I feel these would be some of the best uniforms in football...home or away. Your input is appreciated to fine tune them. Notes: Green - Not Kelly (50/60s), and not as dark as 80's. Hopefully modernly in between (jersey would have modern shiny shoulder/chest) Silver - The silver has a slight green tint to make it unique (pants would be shiny material) No black - removed from wing logo (any black seen is outline of drawings only) Facemask - Gray, not shiny silver Concept - Closest is Vick era throwback 50's (with shoulder stripes everyone comments on), mixed with the 80's (without overdoing the stripes), and utilizing modern helmet wing and materials
  5. Aaron Dodson from The Undefeated listed The 30 Best NBA Throwback Jerseys is response to Nike's announcement that eight teams will be wearing a Classic Edition uniform (READ: Throwback) this upcoming year. There's a lot to be said about Dodson's list, which needless to say, I don't agree with. So I thought I'd share ONE throwback for each 30 teams that I'd love to see worn. This isn't necessarily the best designed throwback from their team history, but more back to an era relatable to the fans and their history. Also, in the spirit of the NBA going with more Color vs. Color match ups, I decided to go with colored jerseys, especially since the Association Edition (READ: Home Uniform) will presumably be the only white jersey in team's collections. Anyways, here is my list. I'd love to see everyone else's opinions on what throwbacks you'd like your favorite team to sport next year or near future ...

    Lions Concept after photos leaked

After studying the leaked photo from the Lions, I came up with the following. I hope they don't over embellish the number font like the Lions current uniforms or the Vikings. And it looks like they might have chrome face masks. At least I hope so. I feel the helmet would be too similar to the Cowboys if they went with a grey face mask.

    High School Basketball Logos

Hi, I am a first time designer and logo creator. I wanted to design a brand to use for my school's basketball logos. I did some research on this site, as well as others and Google, and came up with my ideas. I used Photoshop to create these and although I do not have much experience with the program, but I think that the logos came out well. Our main colors are royal and white, with grey and black serving as accents, and I tried to incorporate each color into the logos. I would appreciate it if you readers would review my logo designs and give me constructive criticism so that I may make the logos perfect. The blue basketball with white outline and a grey "C" in the middle would serve as the alternate logo for the basketball team. The "C" stands for the city of Columbus and the name of my high school. The grey basketball surrounded by the white "C" in the blue circle would serve as a throwback logo. I was going for a Seattle Supersonics type look, referencing their white "S", yellow basketball, green circle alternate. Thank you for your time and constructive criticism. (ALL LOGOS ARE PROPERTY OF nstevens0 AND ARE FOR MY USE ONLY)

Tampa Bay Rays: Back to 1998

So, while doing the Premier League x Baseball crossover series, I had the idea of doing a next series about MLB tweaks. This comes from the re-designing idea I had for the Tampa Bay Rays. I think their current indentity is fine, but, IMO, the colours they use don't stand out, specially compared to the scheme they used dyring their first two years (from 1998 to 2000). That's why I decided to take their current wordmark and logos, using their original multi-colour gradient, using navy just for the trimming. These are the wordmarks from the jerseys: For the uniforms I decided to keep navy as seconary colour, adding the gradient on the cuffs, pants, socks and numbers borders. For the caps I decided to make the front white for the home and alt versions, inspired by the @Carolingian Steamroller's designs: NOTE: I know there are other TB Rays concepts on the forum, but I don't know if somebody has already tried this same idea. C&C appreciated!

    Winnipeg Jets Throwback Concept

My main questions are: Do I ditch the light blue altogether? Should I keep the shoulders the way they are? Is the logo on the jersey too big?
  12. Hi all, Inspired by the news on Dallas trademarking the Texans name, I've decided to start a new project, a throwback inspired by the Texans. Beginning of project: A: Modern, current D, Green Wordmark UPDATED: B: Black D, Green Wordmark UPDATED: C: Green Monotone UPDATED: D: Green D, Black Wordmark UPDATED: C&C Appreciated, and vote in the poll!
  13. BACKSTORY: This is something that was originally for my NHL-to-Football crossover series. It's a throwback for the Pittsburgh Penguins to their inaugural season. Since this is for a football concept, I needed to change up the team's original primary logo from a hockey-playing penguin to a football-playing penguin. So that lead to me creating this: With this being a throwback, I needed to create a uniform, which lead to me making this, based on their inaugural uniform set: I had so much fun with this, I created a corresponding white jersey: Hope you all enjoy it! C+C is appreciated, as always.

    NFL Concepts - 4/32 - Cardinals

As a Cleveland Browns Fan, I have a love hate relationship with the new uniforms. I tried to incorporate the good things they did and exclude the bad. I personally like the Cleveland word mark across the front. It just needs to be re sized. I went ahead and added the "rising" shadow from the numbers to the Cleveland word mark. The worst thing on the uniform in my opinion is the contrasting numbers on the home jersey. I went ahead and changed the numbers to white. One pretty major change I included was orange shoulder caps. Yes, I know no one likes shoulder caps but I think they look good here. I tried to focus on uniformity throughout the whole uniform. The helmet still has the same satin finish that it currently does. The brown face mask is okay, but I love white for the Browns. And like the Miami Dolphins, I made a throwback for special occasions, mostly Thursday or Monday Night games. I based it off the uniforms of the Brian Sipe era: So I will start off with the home uniforms: rough photoshop of new uniforms to look like my concept. Next is the away: Now on to the orange alternate. I don't like the monochrome look but I added it just because. Now here is the throwback. It is very similar to their old uniforms. Thanks for Looking!
  15. NFL: Best current helmet: Bengals (edging out Giants) Best current color set: Broncos orange (a lot of people will disagree with this, and that's okay; Packers, Chiefs, Raiders, and Vikings all very strong too) Best current white set: Giants white over grey (edging out Colts all-white) Best current non-throwback alternate: Texans red over white Best currently-worn throwback: Rams royal over yellow Best 2015 Color Rush: Rams yellow Worst current helmet: Jaguars (no other team in the same zip code) Worst current color set: A fierce competition for this dishonor. Buccaneers' red-over-pewter edges out the others. Jags' all-black just a stone's throw away. Worst current white set: Browns' white over brown; Browns' white over white comes in second Worst current non-throwback alternate: 49ers' all-black, easily Worst currently-worn throwback: Steelers' bumblebees Worst 2015 Color Rush: Jaguars' whatever-they-called-it Most blandly inoffensive and mediocre overall look: Dolphins MLB: Best current main cap: Giants' orange interlocking SF on black cap (edging out Yankees) Best current white set: Yankees Best current grey set: Cubs (hate the Cubs, but wish they'd wear grey more and the blue shirts less) Best current color set: Mariners' teal over white with navy blue caps Best current non-color alternate: Phillies' cream jerseys with blue caps Best currently-worn throwback: Either Phillies' cream jerseys (if it's eligible for both honors) or Brewers' ball-in-glove set Worst current main cap: Any of the Diamondbacks' gradient caps will do Worst current white set: Diamondbacks' teal-free main versions Worst current grey set: Not a lot of truly bad greys these days. Maybe the Twins or Brewers or (much as it pains me to say it) the Reds. Worst current color set: Marlins' black over grey (edging out Marlins' black over white) Worst current non-color alternate: Not a whole lot to choose from. Maybe Mets' non-pinstriped whites. Would pick the Angels' red-sleeved vests if they still wore them. Worst currently-worn throwback: Can't really find a bad one. I'll put this up for debate, I guess. Most blandly inoffensive and mediocre overall look: I'd have said Padres before their recent redesign. Now I'll have to go with the Rays, although I like their fauxback and their light-blue alternate. I'll put up my NBA and NHL picks later.

    Reworked Canucks

What you see from the title is what you expect from me. The home and away are a tribute to the 1970-71 season (the Canucks' first in the NHL).

    Nordiques 2017 Concepts

Hey guys. For my first post on the boards, I will be sharing some concepts with you guys. Now almost a month ago, I was hearing stuff about the NHL's possible expansion to Quebec. And I wondered, "what would those uniforms look like?". So here you go. Let's start with the home uniform. We've got a mix of vintage and modern in this concept, so here you go.
  18. Hey guys, I've been a long time lurker here but I've never really gotten around to posting for myself until now. In honor of Oklahoma State's 125th anniversary, I recently ran a project where, week by week, I would recreate a football uniform from the school's past using the modern Mach Speed template and do a (sometimes brief, sometimes not) writeup on the period that uniform was from. After I'd finished the series, a friend of mine suggested that I share the project here as well since you all might enjoy it, and since then I've been contemplating the best way to go about that. I didn't want to just dump the whole thing in a single post here as it'd definitely come out as a mess, but it also didn't make sense to hold them week in and week out when you can just view the entire finished series elsewhere, so I think the best middle ground I found was to just post them one by one in this thread every couple of days with the original writeups included. So, with that, here's my original first entry: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- My first pick is one that I don't see brought up often for any reason other than the helmet: the 1967-1968 home set, featuring the Bronc Rider in all its glory. (click for fullsize) The '67 and '68 squads weren't particularly notable in terms of performance, chalking up 4-5-1 and 3-7 seasons along with an upset of #3 ranked Colorado, but this set is significant for featuring a number of firsts for Oklahoma State. Although the Bronc Rider was likely in use at the university as early as 1942 and was used by various other sports and organizations on campus, these two seasons mark the only time that the logo has ever appeared anywhere on an OSU football uniform (the sole exception being a fauxback helmet in 2014). The Bronc Rider was also the first logo or brand to ever be used on an Oklahoma State helmet, with past years (and even the first games of the '67 season) simply featuring helmet numbers and/or striping. Finally, this uniform marks the first time that Oklahoma State wore an orange helmet since their days as OA&M; they would promptly return to white beginning in the 1969 season, dropping the Bronc Rider for a diagonal OSU design. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you want to spoil yourself on the full series, you can either view it here on OrangePower.com or find the series on my Twitter account. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to posting the next entry soon!

    Packers 2015 Throwback Uniform Concept

I'm kind of pissed that the Acme Packers jerseys are going away, but yet I'm excited for the future of the Packers' throwback jersey (because I sincerely doubt the new alternate jersey is going to be a yellow jersey). So I decided to make my own throwback jerseys using the same template as the 2012 Packers logoslick: 1936 Uniform Concept: 1939/1944 Uniform Concept (better than the 1994 throwback): I tried to make the numbers as historically accurate as possible, even if the NFL doesn't care about historical accuracy. Let me know what you think!
  20. Hey guys, I'd love to get your feedback on this simple throwback I made for the Pittsburgh Penguins to wear. It dons the crest of NHL team the Pittsburgh Pirates of the late 20's and early 30's. I think I may want to add more to this jersey to make it more unique. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know!
  21. After looking at the new Seattle Mariners "past meets present" logo (see here: http://www.sportslogos.net/logos/view/7565092015/Seattle_Mariners/2015/Alternate_Logo), I decided to fool around on photoshop and see how current NBA logos would fare if they used the teams' old color schemes. I left out some teams on purpose either because they've only had one color scheme in their histories (i.e. the Pacers and Celtics) or their logo has not changed at all (i.e. the Bulls). Some results are absolutely hideous, while others are bearable. Hope you enjoy! Note: this is a joke and should not be taken seriously as concepts.
  22. Here are a few examples I made myself of football uniforms designed around old logos. I've never designed the whole uniform in PhotoShop; I find TeamBuilder so easy to use. Note: make sure you check the box on the page that says "Display Custom Logos," or you won't be able to view these. C&C welcome; also, does anyone else have anything similar? While it is a bit constraining in limiting one to pre-designed uniform styles, I love the ease of use that this tool provides. Most of the generic logos came from the Wayback Machine's archive of maddenteams.com. Another note: I have two separate accounts because I made so many teams, so these aren't all from the same account. Making a Redskins Fauxback Concept Helmet

I'm starting the process of making a new helmet. I have a decent size helmet collection and I've made/reconditioned most the helmets in my collection myself. For my next helmet, I'm making a Redskins "fauxback" helmet using the colors and logo that the team used on their throwback uniform from the past two season. I typically start by making a quick photoshop of what I envision the helmet to eventually look like. I'm pretty settled on the logo and the striping, but I'm having a hard time deciding on the facemask. My natural inclination to go with a gray mask, but that seems typical and boring for this fauxback. I've also toyed with gold and burgundy masks. Which mask do you think would like best?....

  25. Alright so this is my second post and I kinda thought it would be cool to put old NFL Throwback Uniforms on the Nike Elite 51 template to see how they'd look if they were actually used in an NFL game now as a throwback.
