  1. I was disappointed when the Toronto Raptors took out any reference to dinosaurs in their logo package and replaced them with that weird ripped ball. I wanted to bring the velociraptor back into prominence, but not as a cartoon. Not sure if the logo needs the highlights. I am especially torn about the highlight on the neck, or the ball "O". What do you think?
  2. https://twitter.com/SmithRaps/status/720036366902542336 This must be a Toronto thing because the Jays like unveiling banners during the post-season too. I prefer this, tbh then waiting until the following year to unveil it. Also if you end up winning more than one, it gives fans something to look at.
  3. 2016 NBA All-Star Game Jersey Concept.

This upcoming season's All-Star Game is set to take place in Toronto. The Toronto Raptors just underwent a massive re-brand and it is safe to say that most feel it is a downgrade from what they had before. However, they might be able to make it up if the All-Star Jerseys come out nice. Since they have not yet been released, there is no telling what the final product will truly look like. That is where my concepts come in. I have provided a concept as to what I feel what be a nice design for the All-Star Game. The concept that I have is based on jerseys that the Toronto Raptors have sported in the past. The East will wear white since Toronto falls in the Eastern Conference and in Purple (yes, purple makes an appearance) are the Western All Stars. There are also certain elements that I will explain in further detail. Where to start, the overall concept has some designs that are seen on other All Star jerseys such as the team logo and the player's number. The front of each jersey states EAST or WEST depending on where the player plays. The All-Star Logo for Toronto appears on the player's left shoulder and the year "2016" appears above the EAST/WEST. The sides of the jersey feature the familiar design that the Raptors currently use with the silver bars. On the back is where things start to get a little bit interesting. On the back of the collar is a feature new to All-Star jerseys, a little golden strip that states the amount of All-Star appearance that the player has made. This same golden strip appears on the jerseys of teams who have won championships and it reads how many that that certain team has won. Taking the place of the normal NBA logo, one of the alternate logos made for the Toronto All-Star game, a Maple leaf with the NBA logo inside of a star will be placed. Another feature that appears on the concept is that like last year's All-Star jerseys, the player's full name will appear above the number. Appearing below the number is the logo of the team that the player plays for in the NBA. The final feature appears on the back of the shorts, and it is a small phrase that I thought would be cool for an All-Star game up North without saying WE THE NORTH. The phrase is NORTH NATION and I think that it is neutral enough for the All-Star game. That concludes my concept for the All-Star jerseys for 2016 Toronto. I know that they are not perfect and I appreciate it when people point out things that can be improved. C & C appreciated!
  4. Toronto Raptors Tweaked

There's something wrong w/ the new uniforms. What I did here was I got rid of the grey stripes on the straps of the uniforms and I also changed the font for the numbers. S/O to TimeOBrien for the template. C&C appreciated. EDIT: Watermarks have been simplified compared to the original version. Y'all want some purple?
  5. I've always had a soft spot for the Rocket's "pajamas" look of the late 1990s, mostly because I cheered for those teams. But I thought that the navy-and-red era at least tried much harder (thought it certainly often failed) to evoke the "Rockets" nickname and space exploration's association with the city of Houston much more than the older (let's be honest) generic, blander red-and-yellow days did. So I've attempted a (very rough and early) attempt to go back in time and reinterpret that old take on the Rockets identity. Right now, I've got home and road uniforms, with an alternate logo (based on their old one). I've tweaked the colors, kept the beveling on the type, and treated the pinstripes like the modern version of the Hornets have: shifting them to the side panels to keep the rest of the uniform clean. There are lots of gradients, but I think that a team with the nickname "Rockets" can make them work: I think about the fading contrails of fuel boosters and the fade from the Earth's atmosphere into space. I apologize for the template; it's one I made years ago, and it was the only usable one I had close at hand. If anyone can send me a better/more modern one, I'd love it. But I'd love some C+C on what I've got so far.
  6. I decided to take a shot at some of the expected uniform changes in the NBA for the 2015-16 season. First up is the Hawks... I decided to run with the red/volt/charcoal color scheme that's been reported. The uniforms are sort of a mix of eras. I kept the current wordmarks and numbers, sans beveling. The unis feature the diagonal stripe/wordmark on the chest from the 80s, a straight stripe down the player's left side a la the early 90s set, and the updated Pacman logo on the right leg that was feature on both of the above. The left side of the shorts feature a vertically stacked "ATL", with "HAWKS" on the charcoal alternate, reminiscent of several different sets the Hawks wore. I tried out a full charcoal court, which has also been rumored. Not sure how I feel about it, so let me know what you think. And no, I will NOT do a volt uniform.
  7. Toronto Huskies Concept

Just having a little fun to see what the Huskies would likely today if they still existed, or if the Raptors rebranded as the Huskies. Tried to make a clean, sleek, modern yet classy design. Uniforms are inspired by simple old Huskies design as well as bold Canadian flag. Thoughts?
  8. I posted this in the NBA megathread, however, I believe it warrants its own discussion thread, especially since it's a Toronto area sports team: Is there any truth to this?
  9. Toronto Raptors Concept

Forgive me, I'm pretty terrible at computer graphics. I always prefer to draw freehand. I'm not closing doors on them though. Anyway, this is my concept on the new identity of the the Toronto Raptors. My first one with complete package, by the way. I used to post my NBA homecourt concepts on this website. Check the archives for proof. IT'S BEEN A WHILE. Three years, baby. I feel that this team has a bright future, as long as they ditch Bargnani. I just love them even though they're pretty mediocre. Fire Bryan Colangelo. I may be a LeBron/Heat fan, but I see something special in their young roster. They just have to recruit high-profile free agents (Which I've been experimenting right now with the help of NBA 2K13.) Redundancy at its finest, lol. Aesthetically, to embark a new beginning in winning and earn a modest rep, I decided to ditch their current identity and revise it. Simple and fast. S/O to the fellas who created the templates for the home court and the uniform. I can't remember ya'll names but thanks for the help 'doe! Here's the whole thing: Logos Home Uniform (Arrow changed directions from 'up' to 'down' and used pinstripes from the original uniform. Mixture of eras, indeed. More black = toughness.) FONTS A.‘RAPTORS’ Script: Orena B.Jersey number: Vox C.Jersey surname in the back: Qargotek Away Jersey (Yup. Ain't typo.) Alternate Jersey Home court (Pacers-inspired, plus slogan of 'BEYOND BROTHERHOOD' represents the team's value of teamwork and competitiveness. As the NBA's only Maply Leaf nation team, the slogan also promotes the 'remembering' veteran soldiers from the WW1. They made Canada a legitimate nation, mainly due to their courage and teamwork. Be inspired.) Sketches Any comments and suggestions?
