  1. So far this year, it looks like there will be quite a few all star game snubs. Seems like more than usual to me. This has all come about because I am an avid Cardinals fan and someone who just loves the game of baseball. All star game voting seems to be ridiculously flooded with bandwagon fans and people without an ounce of baseball knowledge who vote solely based on big names that they recognize but may not be having a good year at all. Pablo Sandoval comes to mind, who is leading his position in voting. Also it just irks me to no end that Yadi, who is a superior player to Posey, both offensively and defensively, is still behind him in voting. I understand the fans need to be involved but there are so many uninformed "fans" out there that it doesn't allow players like Matt Carpenter and Jed Lawrie to receive the recognition they deserve. In my opinion, the player with the best season, not the biggest name deserves the vote. I think the players and managers need to be the primary influence in voting. Am I way off base here? I'm curious to know if anyone shares my opinions or has a different opinion or a more detailed or different voting system. Sorry for the length of my rant and please let me know what you guys think.
  2. LOGOLYMPIAD - Event 8 Voting

Eight submissions made it for the final event! Two were disqualified for not following the rules. The requirements for the Word mark event were: For the last event, you need to design a new word mark for one of the current or past teams from the Major League Baseball (MLB). Use the colors that are already part of the color scheme; do NOT add more colors (other than white). Include the team name and current primary logo in your submission as a reference. The primary logo should not take more than 150 px by 150 px on the template, as it is not the focus of the work here. List your 3 favorites, ranked 1, 2, 3. The poll closes Thursday, November 1st, at 1:00PM Eastern Time (three days from now). Voting is now over. Entries Entry #1 Entry #2 Entry #3 Entry #4 Entry #5 Entry #6 Entry #7 Entry #8 Disqualified entries neilb's entry was disqualified because his entry contains both the city name and the team name. While the city name is in smaller letters, I specifically mentioned several times in the thread that it should be the city/state or the team name, but not both. Here's neilb's entry. The Golden One's entry was submitted on a grey background, which was not allowed in any event. Here's The Golden One's entry. Reminder The voting will be open to public voting once the event is officially over. Once the finalists have been posted in the event thread, voting will be open for 3 days. Judging is open to all board members registered BEFORE August 1st. This is to ensure no one is voting for themselves under an alternate login. Members may vote once per event and may not vote for their own entry (I'll know if you did, and will not count your vote). You may not disclose the identity of any of the designers of the entries until voting closes. Voting will be via the 3-2-1 points method. Voters will be asked to post their choice for a gold, silver and bronze winner. Gold votes are worth 3 points, Silver worth 2, Bronze worth 1.
  3. LOGOLYMPIAD - Event 7 Voting

I received five entries for the event, but I had to disqualify one. The requirements for the Fantasy Team were: Design a primary logo, and either a secondary logo or wordmark, along with two uniform sets for a basketball team located in the United States, but not in a NBA-occupied city. You pick the city, team name, colors, etc. The selected uniform template must display both the front and the back of the jersey. One uniform set must be white while the other uniform set can be any team color you like. List your 3 favorites, ranked 1, 2, 3. The poll closes Thursday, October 25th, at 1:00PM Eastern Time (three days from now). Voting is now over. Entries Entry #1 Entry #2 Entry #3 Entry #4 Disqualified entry I received an entry from thelegend5, which contained information that could easily link him to the entry, especially since he asked several questions in the event's thread. Since every entry has to remain anonymous, I had no choice but to disqualify it. Here is thelegend5's entry. Reminder The voting will be open to public voting once the event is officially over. Once the finalists have been posted in the event thread, voting will be open for 3 days. Judging is open to all board members registered BEFORE September 1st. 4. LOGOLYMPIAD - Event 6 Voting

I received six entries for Event 6, but I have to once again disqualify an entry. The requirements for the Anniversary Patch were: Design a patch commemorating an event (sporting or non-sporting) that really happened in 2002, 1992, 1987, 1962, 1937 or 1912 (10, 20, 25, 50, 75, or 100 years ago). Include the years in the design. You may use and incorporate existing images or logos, but the overall design must be your own. List your 3 favorites, ranked 1, 2, 3. The poll closes Thursday, October 18th, at 12:30PM Eastern Time (three days from now). Voting is now over. Entries Entry #1 Entry #2 Entry #3 Entry #4 Entry #5 Disqualified entry I received an entry that was disqualified for two reasons: the entry was not labeled with the username of the participant (therefore I have no clue who sent it), and the size was 960px x 720px. Here is the disqualified entry. Reminder The voting will be open to public voting once the event is officially over. Once the finalists have been posted in the event thread, voting will be open for 3 days. Judging is open to all board members registered BEFORE September 1st. 5. LOGOLYMPIAD - Event 5 Voting

I received seven entries for Event 5, but one had to be disqualified. The requirements for the Alternate Logo Event were: You have to create an alternate logo for one of the current active teams of La Liga (Liga Nacional de FĂștbol Profesional). Use existing colors only. Include the team name and current primary logo in your submission as a reference. The primary logo should not take more than 150 px by 150 px on the template, as it is not the focus of the work here. List your 3 favorites, ranked 1, 2, 3. The poll closes Thursday, October 11th, at 1:00PM Eastern Time (three days from now). Voting is now over. Entries Entry #1 Entry #2 Entry #3 Entry #4 Entry #5 Entry #6 Disqualified entry thelegend5's entry was disqualified because there was way too many colors on the entry, which contradicted the "Use existing colors only" rule. The lion head shows a variety of shades for the same color, but they still count as different colors. The Real Zaragoza crest shows only three colors. Here is thelegend5's entry. Reminder The voting will be open to public voting once the event is officially over. Once the finalists have been posted in the event thread, voting will be open for 3 days. Judging is open to all board members registered BEFORE September 1st. This is to ensure no one is voting for themselves under an alternate login. 6. LOGOLYMPIAD - Event 4 Voting

Ten submissions made the cut this time! Two were disqualified for not following the rules. The requirements for the Crossover event were: For this event, you have to crossover any American Basketball Association (1968-1976) team to American football. You have to create one colored uniform set, one helmet and a primary logo. The logo must incorporate one of the team's marks. Use the colors that are already part of the color scheme; do NOT add more colors (other than white). The uniform set should include a jersey and pants only. List your 3 favorites, ranked 1, 2, 3. The poll closes Thursday, October 4th, at 12:30PM Eastern Time (three days from now). Voting is now over. Entries Entry #1 Entry #2 Entry #3 Entry #4 Entry #5 Entry #6 Entry #7 Entry #8 Entry #9 Entry #10 Disqualified entries rayman's entry was disqualified for two reasons: the template was much bigger than the requested size (3333 px x 2500 px) and, most importantly, grey (or silver) was added to the color scheme. I specifically mentioned in the event's description that the chosen team was from the ABA between 1968 and 1976. While the New Jersey Nets have had grey in there color scheme, it was not between those years. Here is rayman's entry. Gfonk04's entry was disqualified for the color scheme: while the Spirit of St. Louis have silver on their uniform, it was a very light color compared to what was submitted (based on the ssur.org files). Keeping in line with my multiple comments through the event thread, I judged it too far off the normal color to accept it. Here is Gfonk04's entry. Reminder The voting will be open to public voting once the event is officially over. Once the finalists have been posted in the event thread, voting will be open for 3 days. Judging is open to all board members registered BEFORE August 1st. This is to ensure no one is voting for themselves under an alternate login.
