    2018 Open Wheel Race Chat

Welcome to the 2018, open wheel race chat! I'd figure I would get this started since the roar before the 24 happening this week, I'd figured I would open up this as well. - Some big changes in open wheel especially in IMSA now that Team Penske has returned to IMSA with not only Juan Pablo Montoya but also Helio Castroneves & Ricky Taylor & their goal is simple, stop the dominant force that is Cadillac - In Indycar, we have a new chasis & a new champion in Josef Newgarden & from the looks of the car as well as the reaction, I think we're going to have a great season - In Formula 1, the question is who will get their 5th championship first, the reigning champion Lewis Hamilton or will Sebastian Vettel finally end Ferrari's drought, or will Red Bull's Max Versatppen or Daniel Ricciardo or even Valteri Bottas play spoiler? - World Endurance will begin its super season but with rumors coming about LMP1 possibly switching their model design to look more like a road car, could we see the next revolution in Prototype racing (IMSA is also listening & hopefully this brings in more manufactures) - World Touring Car Championship is no more, they have decided to go TCR so that will mean more manufactures. - Pirellli World Challenge is going through some changes, Cadillac has left & Callaway has come in, bringing Corvettes with them. K-Pax switch to Bentley Looks like we got a lot in store this open wheel season.
  2. With the roar before the 24 beginning in a couple of days, I'd figure now is a good time to start up a new open wheel discussion. The open wheel saga is still upon us since Mercedes hasn't named a replacement for Nico Rosberg after his unexpected retirement. This truly has been an shocking yet interesting off season but the reports are that Bottas is looking to be the replacement while Massa returns for one more season for Williams. Plus we have Ganassi switching back to Honda in Indycar while Josef Newgarden is with Penske so it could he Newgarden fighting with fellow teammate & defending series champion Simon Pagenaud could make for a good championship battle. Then you have the other racing series such as IMSA, WEC, World Challenge etc... Plus with the new GT3 & GT4 cars coming in should make for some really good racing. I'm hoping for a excellent endurance year despite the WEC losing Audi.
  3. Well ladies & gentlemen. A new year brings us a new season of racing to slowly start to begin. Of course we have the 24 hours of Daytona starting up in a couple of weeks & I'm excited! Especially with the new GTLM class coming in to IMSA. Then we'll have IndyCar & F1 starting up & so on & so forth. Hopefully this should be a good racing season. Now the one question for F1 is this? Can anyone stop Lewis from a 4th title or better yet, can anyone stop the Silver Arrows? For IndyCar, will Dixon repeat? What will go on in IMSA? PWC? Even the Touring championships? I'm hoping for a great season of racing as always!!!

    Endurance Cars and Liverys

I actually want to see a discussion on the liverys of the Endurance world. Feel free to add and post more but these are unique designs
  5. Welcome to 2015! With the Rolex 24 at Daytona starting later this month, Formula E in the middle of its season (with the next race being next Saturday in Buenos Aires), and F1 and IndyCar starting a couple of months from now, let get this thread started with some racing news: -Formula E and ex-F1 driver Franck Montagny tests positive for a cocaine derivative. I think it is a shame of what has happened. I hope he had learned his lesson (whether he gets kicked out or not). -V8 Supercars has a new logo for 2015 (since this is a logo site, I thought it would be appropriate): The old logo: Thoughts on the news, logo, and the new year of racing?
