    2018 NFL Weekly Picks Contest

NFL seasons starts on Thursday night with the Falcons playing the Eagles. With that in mind, it's time to open up this season's Weekly Picks competition. I don't need to explain the rules*; this is my fourth season doing this, so you guys know how I do it by now. Good luck to everyone here, and good luck to your teams, except for you guys in the NFC South who will all be fighting for playoff spots that the Bucs won't be fighting for. Week 1: Atlanta vs. Philadelphia Buffalo vs. Baltimore Cincinnati vs. Indianapolis Houston vs. New England San Francisco vs. Minnesota Tampa Bay vs. New Orleans Jacksonville vs. NY Giants Tennessee vs. Miami Pittsburgh vs. Cleveland Kansas City vs. LA Chargers Dallas vs. Carolina Seattle vs. Denver Washington vs. Arizona Chicago vs. Green Bay NY Jets vs. Detroit LA Rams vs. Oakland I try to have the standings updated by about noon on Tuesday at the latest. That's the standard I adopted as last season went along. It can be earlier than that as well, depending on various circumstances, but they should be submitted no later than that point. If I'm going to be out-of-town early in a week and that deadline might be untenable, I'll make a note of it ahead of time. Thankfully, it doesn't appear I'll be displaced by a hurricane during the first weekend of the season this time around. Wasn't much fun last year, though compared to most people I know I had it much better than they did. -- *I lied. One rules reminder: Picks for the specific games are to be in by the kickoff of those respective games. I, ever the hypocritical cynic, do believe in the honor system with this game, though. People here have lives, things get forgotten about, sometimes a game might accidentally be forgotten to be selected out of the vast Sunday swath (though I'm hoping to amend that a bit if I post the week's schedule in advance). If a game is forgotten about, you can send a DM or send me a tweet (@KramerIndustry) and, more often than not, I will be generous enough to give credit. If Cleveland is facing New England and NE wins and you forget to make that pick, then I'll logically presume NE would've been the pick and give the nod (do they even play each other this year? Who cares). All I will ask is not to abuse this, is all.

    2017 NFL Weekly Picks Contest

With the NFL regular set to begin on Thursday night, I am pleased to announce that this year's Weekly Picks contest is now open. This is my third year running this competition, and I'm very excited to go through this again. It makes the NFL more fun. Week 1: Kansas City vs. New England Tampa Bay vs. Miami Pittsburgh vs. Cleveland NY Jets vs. Buffalo Atlanta vs. Chicago Baltimore vs. Cincinnati Arizona vs. Detroit Jacksonville vs. Houston Oakland vs. Tennessee Philadelphia vs. Washington Indianapolis vs. LA Rams Seattle vs. Green Bay Carolina vs. San Francisco NY Giants vs. Dallas New Orleans v. For my own convenience, I do record both wins and losses, but ultimately wins is the only category that matters. -- (wtf, this is the third straight season the Giants are in Dallas to open the season. Fix the schedule generator, NFL.) EDIT - thanks @ninersdd; not sure what happened there.

    2016 NFL Weekly Picks Contest

With the NFL regular set to begin on Thursday night, I am pleased to announce that this year's Weekly Picks contest is now open. This is my second year now running this competition, and I'm very excited to go through this again. It makes the NFL more fun. Now, that being said, there is one...small? nah, not really...change that I am thinking of implementing to this year's contest. From 2008-2011, there was a different website I was a regular member of that also contested a Weekly Picks' contest, but that site specifically played the game using the point spread. You guys obviously know what I mean by that, but I'll give the visual anyway: Carolina vs. Denver (+3) If Denver wins outright, or loses by 1-2 points, any picks for Denver would get the nod. If Carolina wins by a FG, it's a push. If Carolina wins by any more than that, Carolina picks get the nod. Now, I'll post the Week 1 schedule here with the point spread in mind (point spread effective of when I post the next week's schedule, which I'll probably try to do on Tuesday morning, but I make no promises; previously, the Thursday point spread was the standard, but that was in a pre-TNF every week world, so I'm not wait on that). If you guys are interested in playing point spread this year, I'll keep it going throughout the rest of the season. If you guys would rather play the game straight up, then ignore the point spreads and I won't post them again for following weeks' schedules. I figure I'm giving enough time for opinions to be voiced. I prefer point spread, obviously, as I feel it involves more strategy in making selections. I will respect the preference of the majority of the players, however. -- NFL Week 1: Carolina at Denver Tampa Bay vs. Atlanta Minnesota vs. Tennessee Cleveland vs. Philadelphia Cincinnati vs. NY Jets Oakland vs. New Orleans San Diego vs. Kansas City Buffalo vs. Baltimore Chicago vs. Houston Green Bay vs. Jacksonville Miami vs. Seattle NY Giants vs. Dallas Detroit vs. Indianapolis New England vs. Arizona Pittsburgh vs. Washington Los Angeles vs. San Francisco -- One rules reminder: Picks for the specific games are to be in by the kickoff of those respective games. 2015 NFL Weekly Picks Contest

Tank's on the shelf, so he's not running this show right now, but this has been a board tradition since I've been here, and I know I've either played pick 'em point spread or pick 'em straight up since 2008, so I'm not very interested in ending that run. Because of the late timing here, consider tonight's Pittsburgh/NE game a toss out. Pick it if you want, but since there will be people who don't see this thread in time, I don't want to punish them. Anyone who's connected to Tank can post the predictions that he usually files here. I'm not that person, so I'm not doing that. "You know the rules. Pick every NFL game straight up weekly results will be posted and we will have weekly and full season winners." EDIT - meh, nevermind that
