NFL Jersey question

I could be wrong but I think the manufacturer provide the main jersey body that cover the torso as well as a slew of various sleeve types and sizes and then each team has a seamstress that adds the desired sleeves the player wants as well as the numbers, name plate, and any patches being used.

I don't think the jerseys come in parts. They arrive already assembled. The alterations happen by the team to custom fit the player.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Well, it really depends on a few factors. I know many college teams send their uniforms and other gear to local shops to have, for instance, the conference patch or other similar items applied. The main parts - numbers, team name across chest, etc - are already applied when shipped out.

That may be true in college, but not in the NFL. At least not in past seasons, and I think this is still the case.

The Packers are a bit outside the standard, not using any Nike proprietary fabrics or manufacture, but they receive blank jerseys from Ripon, Nike's contractor. The names and numbers are then sewn on by the team's seamstress, who customizes the sleeves and hem per each player's preferences.
