do we need shorts?

Really?
well it says nothing about shorts up above....

[snip]

  • The uniform set should include a jersey and shorts only.
[/snip]

Right there: it's one of the two rules you need to abide by...

can we use variations of a color such as they cowboys do with blue?

As PSUcelticsWON95 said, it was stated in the rules. To expand this further, I'll give an example. If you have a green, you could use that particular green or a shade close to it. But if you add a second green, even if it's a close shade, that would be too many colors.

The amount of colors and shades the Cowboys use is a mess. Why repeat this error? :)

I received a question regarding the wordmarks via PM:

I was wondering if for a wordmark I could use the text on the logo for Salavat Yulaev Ufa?

4zandcbpzhgahj0tu7el5q3p0.gif

You CAN use part of the primary logo if it suits your needs for your uniform. For example, in the Ufa logo, you can extract the part in blue or the part below for the uniforms.

Any part of the primary logo or secondary logo is fair game. However, you CANNOT create anything new.

The Slovan wordmark as seen above will be accepted.

Since doing so would result in a new shade of a color, is it safe to assume sublimation would disqualify an entry?

Sublimation is not allowed.

For full disclosure: I have already received entries which shows sublimation, therefore I will contact members to allow them to correct this, as this was not clarified before.

Another question via PM:

Considering you say use "colors that are already part of the color scheme," where would "unused logos" fall in? In particular, Admiral Vladivostok has "unused" logos, one of which has a completely different color scheme from the current.

Team page: http://www.sportslogos.net/logos/list_by_team/5045/Admiral_Vladivostok/

Unused logo: http://www.sportslogos.net/logos/view/504535272014/Admiral_Vladivostok/2014/Unused_Logo

Do NOT use the unused logos, and by extension any color that can be found exclusively in an unused logo. Stick with the primary or alternate logos and wordmark: that should give you plenty of options to work with.

In Admiral's case, don't use orange. Stick with the double blue.

Another question via PM:

On the back of the shorts as a small detail I was planning on writing [bATTLE-CRY removed] which is a battle-cry [TEAM] fans use to cheer the team.

Given the strict rules I wasn't sure if I can use that so I'm asking if that is allowed.

Anything that is not a logo is NOT allowed. Therefore you CANNOT use the battle-cry.

You CAN use part of the primary logo if it suits your needs for your uniform. For example, in the Ufa logo, you can extract the part in blue or the part below for the uniforms.

Any part of the primary logo or secondary logo is fair game. However, you CANNOT create anything new.

My understanding from this is that I can extract portions of a logo and leave other parts behind (for example, leaving behind elements that are hockey sticks, pucks, etc. that wouldn't make sense for a basketball team.), but I can't change anything on a logo (for example, changing a hockey puck into a basketball). Is this correct?

From a PM:

For AMYP Kharbarovsk can we take the tiger tail of the wordmark?

Yes, you can.

You are correct. You can remove some parts while keeping the original aspect of the logo.

However, do NOT pick bits and pieces from different logos to create a new one.

Are we allowed to include the KHL logo in the concept like you would see with an NBA team, or should we just leave that out?

Yes, you can include it in the concept if you want.
