Crossover_Event.png

Lets start LOGOLYMPIAD 2014 with a simple event! You have to crossover any existing Kontinental Hockey League team to basketball. You have to create two uniform sets: one white set and one colored set.
  • Use the colors that are already part of the color scheme; do NOT add more colors (other than white). A different shade of an existing color will count as a new color, so be careful.
  • The uniform set should include a jersey and shorts only.
DEADLINE: September 8th, 11:59AM Eastern Time

Reminder

Failure to follow the guidelines could result in your entry being inadvertently (or intentionally) excluded from judging.

Entries must be emailed to logolympiad (@) gmail (dot) com prior to the set deadline. Subject line should be the event number (Ex: Event 1). Once you submit your entry, it is considered final.

Entries must be submitted as .jpg, .gif or .png formats. The file name format of the submission is: event#_yourusername.extension (Ex: event1_pollux.png). The file must be attached to your email.

All final entries must be 800x600 pixels with at least 70 pixels of white space at the bottom of the image. This means that your presentation has to fit in a 800x530 pixels window (800 pixels wide by 530 pixels high). I will NOT re-size entries that are not properly done, so make sure it's right.

The background of the entries should be solid white, unless otherwise specified. You must not use gradients, shadows, patterns, lines, etc. on your background.

Do not include your name or any other personal identifiers on your submission. Also, do not watermark your work. I will add a watermark to each entry before they get posted for judging. I will also provide each entry with a number. You are expected to keep the identity of your entry anonymous until the end of the event. If you think you know the identity of another designer, keep it to yourself. Anyone who exposes the identity of themselves or anyone else will be DQ'd.

I will NOT contact you if your entry is wrong, therefore make sure that you comply to these guidelines before submitting your entry.

Is there anywhere we can get the official team colors? I am having trouble finding the correct shades for my chosen team.

"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life.'" - John 14:6

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16

Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything regarding the official team colors. A good old eyedropper tool should do the trick to get the RGB / CMYK values.

I won't be discriminating anyone if the colors are close to what the team currently uses. However, using a blue instead of a green will definitely get you disqualified.

Is the creation of new logos/wordmarks acceptable, or do we stick exclusively to what already exists?

Do NOT create anything new. Work with what exists - logos, wordmarks, even if they are in Russian. The focus of the event is two basketball uniforms.

do we have to use russian alphabet

You can use latin script for the names and numbers, although the Russian alphabet would be a nice touch. I will not penalize/disqualify anyone for using any type of script for the numbers and the names only. If an existing wordmark is in Russian only, use that one.

I assume alternates are accepted in this case?

I assume alternates are accepted in this case?

Assuming since they asked for one white and one dark colored uniform, the title of alternate is irrelevant.

As GoNordiques mentioned, why would you need an alternate? You have to submit one white and one colored uniform, so two total. If you submit three, you will be disqualified.

Can we use a color from the team's color scheme even if in real life that color is not the color of their jersey?

Yes. Any color found on an official mark - primary logo, secondary logo, wordmark - will be accepted, even if it is not found on their hockey jersey.

do we have to do the back of the jersey. my template doesnt have a back would that disqualify me?

Yes. If your template doesn't have one, you can create a back view easily by modifying the collar of the front view (raising it to simulate the back). Alternatively, you can find another template to work with.

Remember, you have until next Monday to submit your work. You don't need to rush into it, as there are no medals for speed here.

Here's a question: if a team doesn't currently have a word-mark can we create our own? Or would we have to just go with the logo on the front?

Was wondering this as well. Looking through some of the teams on the parent site some teams only have a main logo.

Cardinals -- Rams -- Blues -- Tigers -- Liverpool

Go with the logo on the front. Do NOT create a wordmark if one doesn't already exist. The goal here is to create uniform sets for the crossover, not logos.

If you think you have found a wordmark for a team but you are unsure if you can use it, you can send me a PM with the wordmark and its source. I will answer in this thread, allowing other members to use it while preserving the submitting member's anonymity.
