This is the best the Angels have ever looked:

1475225.jpgbert-blyleven%2528ap%2529.jpg

The wordmark and cap logo were clean. And it was the perfect combination of blue and red; the (mainly) blue cap and the red socks and shoes worked great.

Funny how that jersey style hasn't been used since the early 90s. The Angels used it, the Rangers used it at some point, and I think there was one or two other AL teams that usd it.

Point is, the only way to remedy it all is to actually look like the Angels again and bring back the navy crown.

And I sorta get the "red vs. blue" thing the Dodgers and Angels have going on, but I also find it completely unnecessary. I know it's not like an official thing or anything, but I still don't think it's a necessary thing. One team shouldn't have to look it's worst just so a city can have a color battle. I'd never want the Mets to switch to orange primarily just so New York can have "blue vs. orange".

I agree 100%. It's not as if anyone is going to confuse Dodger Blue with Angel Navy (with substantial red accents, including the bill of the cap). The Mets-Yankees comparison is a perfect analogy since it also deals with royal vs. navy.

Never noticed the logo on the stirrup until today. Ironic that it's the red A with a red background.

The White Sox will have a memorial patch for Minnie Minoso this season. I don't know how to shrink the pictures.

B_WdONUU8AAL7C1.jpgB_WdOKkVEAAnxHC.jpg

Also, look how freaking bad that "O" looks. I can't believe they haven't fixed that in 20+ seasons. I believe the Angels found a way on their alts to do a double outline without filling in entire letters.

Does anyone have any information on how this will look on the home and away jerseys? Is there going to be an additional black outline for those, or is the silver outline only to differentiate it on the black jersey? Then again, I think there's been a history of the league having black patches on black all the time.

Don't know if this belongs here or not, but SNY unveiled a new graphics package for Mets games

Fancy!

Do they still feature the giant flying Mets logo across the screen as a transitional wipe? That's always looked good. Also like the new intro:

Although the elevated trains and billboards remind me less of Queens, and more of another borough. :P

(Yes, I've been on the 7 before, but I definitely think the billboards look more like the ones on the Deegan.)

EDIT: Ack! Jeez! I forgot you can't link a video in this forum without it automatically embedding.

Oh yeah, the Twins new uniforms may be the biggest downgrade I can ever remember for an MLB team. They have reached a Padres-like level of giving up and just throwing stuff out there every year to just see if something works.

This is one of the most exaggerated posts I've read on here in a long time. Biggest downgrade EVER? Throwing stuff out there every year? The former is subjective, but I think Blue Jays fans (among dozens others) would disagree. The latter is just wrong. How are they throwing stuff out there every year, considering their home jersey hadn't noticeably changed for 27years, and their road for nearly that long?

Don't forget the loss of teal and purple in favor of a wall of black for the Rockies and Marlins, as well as the Padres' loss of... anything interesting.

Man, looking back at that image it is a thing of beauty. The Pirates really should at least part time have a real vest in the rotation.

angels will be wearing their retro la hat with the halo this year

how does that look ?

I wonder if they've ever gone gold before. That would be interesting.

Was going to comment on specifically this. Navy-Royal is enough of a contrast for an intra-city rivalry. Yeah, blue-red is classic (Cubs-Cards, Cards-Royals, Leafs-Habs, Devils-Rangers, and the leagues/conferences in the top five American sports) but it's not a necessity.

Aaaaannnnnd I just got wood.

I'll be picking up at least two of these when they come out.

AD41B0AC-0846-4ABD-BC29-C8FABE73FADE_zps

And a new twist this year! What I had previously heard about the trophy being incorporated into the batter man logo is true.

That's so much gold it's gaudy. But considering the circumstances, I think it's worthy B)

Couldn't agree more. The Pirates should always look like this:

Until they run out of stock of the old jerseys, doubtful

I highly doubt Majestic has that much inventory of old jerseys. A company that big has some financial management problems if they can't turn over inventory two or three years later.

It's not a case of that, as Seattle's new jerseys still have the old logo:

SundayUni_2.jpg

That's not what I meant. Stock of blank jerseys. Majestic probably has a huge inventory of blank cream jerseys that probably had the majestic logo already on them. That must be the reason why we still see a bunch of them around.

Or maybe (and this sounds silly for a big company) but maybe the old logo is stitched on and the machines they use only know how to stitch that logo. All the new logos are on BP jerseys and those aren't stitched, but applied felt I think.

Go A's!

Why would Majestic have a large inventory of cream jerseys with old royal blue Majestic logos on them? The Mets' cream jerseys were pinstripes.

And I sorta get the "red vs. blue" thing the Dodgers and Angels have going on, but I also find it completely unnecessary. I know it's not like an official thing or anything, but I still don't think it's a necessary thing. One team shouldn't have to look it's worst just so a city can have a color battle. I'd never want the Mets to switch to orange primarily just so New York can have "blue vs. orange".

I don't prefer the mostly red Angels look because of the red vs blue dynamic. I prefer it because I think it's the best look the team has ever had. Honestly? I prefer traditional looks but a lot of the older Angels looks with navy caps? They look like Jewish west coast Red Sox at best and generic at worst. The heavy red look not only looks great but gives the team a vibrant and unique look. A look that has a World Series Championship associated with it.

The red vs blue thing with the Dodgers is just a really cool bonus.

Because nothing's more vibrant than logos and wordmarks that are the same color as their background.

I do love it when someone tries to prove to me that my opinion is wrong ;)

For the sake of discussion though...

Los-Angeles-Angels-Mark-Trumbo-MLB_zps4f

Just look at that wordmark blending into that background. Travesty, I know. As for the hat? Yeah, the A is red, and so is the cap. Given that it's 2015 and the era of HD and has a thick and bold outline? I don't see it as a problem.

I think we'll just have to agree to disagree there, but I respect your opinion!

I don't know, I just can't get past the whole red on red thing the logos have going on, and the fact the Angels wore a navy cap of some sort for a little over 40 years. The logos and wordmarks don't stand out at all against the red, and there just never seemed to be any rhyme or reason to going primarily red. I really see it no differently than if the Mets were to go orange-wild and ditch the royal for an orange cap with orange logos and wordmarks outlined in royal and white. It'd be an unnecessary venture into a look that is far less visually appealing and cohesive. I think that sort of move would be pretty unpopular. All in all, I really don't think the Angels did anything different than that, essentially. It's just not a look I can get behind at all.

I will concede though that the logos and wordmarks they have now are the best they've ever had. They're fantastic updates to the classic, traditional Angels marks, and can last for many, many years. I also agree that the yamaka effect the old halo hats had was horrible and should've never hit the field. I still think though that the Angels need a navy crown.

That's what is such a bummer regarding to the Angels for me at least, is that they're just one simple change away from nailing it; yet they're so far away as they are. I'd put the Marlins in that same category, too (just switch everything that's orange to teal already, dang it!!).

EDIT: Just saw you'd already responded to Diamond a page back. Missed it, my bad! I promise I'm not trying to argue at all! I do respect your opinion. I'm just sharing some thoughts, that's all :)
