What are/were the worst block letter primary logos?

I just got to thinking about this because of how much I hate the Indians primary logo. I know they're in a difficult position with Chief Wahoo, and the C logo has some history, but it just seems like a bad attempt to emulate some of the classic block letter primaries in sports.

Are there even other block letter primaries?

First of all, if you're going to do a monogram logo, it needs to be the first letter of the city name (or school name in college), not the team name. Second of all, it replaced a far superior primary logo.

That logo does suck but I wouldn't call that font block...,maybe to extend the selection this thread should just be about lackluster single letter logos in general.

This is actually the primary reason that logo sucks. They still use the bengal head, but it's been relegated into obscurity, much like the Bengals franchise, for the last decade.

It looks terrible on their field. I used to love watching the games at their stadium with the leaping bengal at midfield.

Hey now, the Bengals are one of only five NFL teams to make the playoffs in each of the past three seasons, and have made the playoffs four of the past five seasons. Yes, I know they still haven't won a playoff game, but they aren't exactly "relegated to obscurity" these days, at least to people who actually watch the NFL.
As for the "B" logo, I don't like it, either. I refuse to own anything that has it on it. I like the tiger head, but it has always bugged me that he's looking to the left, which seems backwards. The leaping tiger was backwards, as well.

Every block letter primary is bland.

There's no discussion for this.

Was waiting for a post like this, and I generally agree, but:

Yeah, I agree with this. This is the reason why I think this discussion is worse having. Block letter primaries may be pretty simple but it's easy to overlook the fact that some are pretty good/iconic and some are just bad. Although I do suppose because of their simplicity that a lot of it comes down to context and subjectivity.

why? ive never understood this and that seems like a dumb rule. you think they'd be more original with an orange "C"?

If the Bengals get so much flack for having a B as a logo, Why don't the Falcons get the same treatment for having an F?

Stupid double standards....

Maybe because it's a bird cleverly shaped like an F, while the Bengals logo is just a plain old B? Just a hunch.

I think the lack of subtlety for the Bengals B is why people dislike it. It's a bulky and loud block letter that somehow has become the primary logo when all we want to see is the Bengal itself.

Well since the Bengals name is already represented by the stripes it would make more sense to have a C for the I represented city name than having the team name represented twice.

The Falcons logo is barely an F. It's a bird first and foremost, and kinda sorta a little bit an F if you convince yourself that there's an F there.

Nickname-based initial logos are stupid. It's really stupid in baseball, mostly due to the tradition and history of the original teams not really having "official" nicknames and just being the "Boston" team (and then the nicknames evolving organically), but I guess in 2014 with the emphasis on branding, you have situations where there are teams like the Angles who despite the battle to use the LA local, really just market themselves as "The Angles". These are (mostly) private businesses afterall, and maybe it's time to quit making believe that the city really means anything anymore. I guess forking up hundreds of millions for a stadium doesn't get your initial on a logo anymore. Maybe a billion still does.
