The Mueller Report has been released.

From the Executive Summary:

“We found no evidence that anyone at the NFL had or saw the in-elevator video before it was publicly shown. We also found no evidence that a woman at the NFL acknowledged receipt of that video in a voicemail message on April 9, 2014.

“We concluded there was substantial information about the incident –even without the in-elevator video – indicating the need for a more thorough investigation. The NFL should have done more with the information it had, and should have taken additional steps to obtain all available information about the February 15 incident.”

Translation: Goodell spent too much money on this "independent investigation" for anything that doesn't fully absolve the NFL to come out of this.

The ironic part is, even if this report is true, Goodell and the league still look horrible - but just incompetent and negligent, as opposed to devious and corrupt.

incompetent and negligent, as opposed to devious and corrupt.

This was the eternal question of the Bush administration.

Along with the current one which has spent the past six years telling people it was super smart while also claiming complete ignorance and absolving itself from blame for stuff which went on in its own cabinet. But nobody is more concerned than them!

I chuckled because I thought the same thing when I read Lights Out's post. I guess it's the question around all politicians. Whether in the NFL or politics, it's always preferable to make yourself look like a buffoon than admit that you did something really bad. But being that the playoffs are in high gear, the press will brush their claimed incompetence under the rug.

Colts linebacker Josh McNary charged with rape

An Indianapolis Colts linebacker has been charged with rape, according to court documents filed today by the Marion County prosecutor.

Josh McNary, 26, who has been with the team since 2013, faces one count of rape, one count of criminal confinement and one count of battery, court documents state.
A 29-year-old woman told police a man she met at a Downtown bar after a long night of drinking took her to his apartment and raped her. According to a probable cause affidavit, the two ended up in a bedroom where he tried to kiss her face and neck. The woman said the man got upset and became aggressive after she turned down his advances.
"He scared me, intimidated me, and scared me," the woman told detectives.

Documents said the woman scratched the man's neck, face, back and shoulder during a fight that occurred before the alleged rape. The woman said she told the man multiple times to stop. The woman later snuck out of the apartment while the man was in the bathroom. She told police she ended up taking the man's cellphone because she couldn't find hers.

Yesterday, Rolling Stone published a long piece by Jeb Lund on, well, basically how awful the NFL is. I was going to post it here, but I was too lazy to dig up the anti-thread.

Then, not 24 hours later, RS.com deleted the article. Gone without a trace. Fortunately, you can still read it here: http://www.mrdestructo.com/2015/01/everything-stupid-is-alive-and.html

Welp, If I wasn't rooting for the Seahawks before reading this, I sure as hell am now after this enormous pile of horse droppings.

Just give it up, Patriots. Nobody likes you, and not even the Christians can save you at this point.

I know somebody who loves the Patriots

Roger Goody Two Shoes Goodell who sweeps every Pats scandal under the rug and throws the book at Sean Payton. Does not realize ice freezes in the freezer because there is no camera inside to prove it like the Ray Rice ko punch.

Roger Goodell has surpassed Bettman in terms of awfulness and to call him an empty suit would be unfair to a used Seersucker on sale at a goodwill store.

The NFL's list of demands to Chicago for hosting the draft.

Notable among the NFL's requests are:

Cordoning off stretches of road around Grant Park and Congress Plaza, including a key stretch of Congress Parkway between Michigan Avenue and Wabash Avenue, for nearly three weeks.

Free use of the Auditorium Theatre and other spaces owned by Roosevelt University from April 19 to May 6, free WiFi and other technology for the NFL and its partners at all locations and free parking for NFL staff, TV crews and production trucks.

Free parking at draft venues and free police escorts for prospective draft picks and NFL "dignitaries."

Creation and enforcement of a "clean zone" city ordinance banning temporary commercial activity in and near draft venues.

City "resources" to help keep unofficial advertising away from the made-for-TV event, otherwise known as ambush marketing.

Outdoor space for a "village" for about 15 "sponsor activation zones" and football fields for youth clinics and events for five days. Also, three "Party Spaces" for NFL events: one for 150 people that serves Anheuser-Busch brewing products, one for up to 700 people with concert space April 29 and one for 250 people for a lunch with television shooting capability.

How can you possibly need a block of Congress Parkway for three weeks? For the uninitiated, Michigan and Congress is not an insignificant intersectiion, with Michigan Avenue being a main road downtown and Congress Parkway being a road that turns into a major expressway. And let's take cops off the streets so that they can make sure no one sells counterfeit t-shirts or non-Pepsi/Budweiser products. This whole league can get dicked. Have your stupid draft in Alabama.

Pretty much on point with the Admiral on this one. At least we know we'll have plenty of open space in Grant Park to show waving morons at the camera in their Cutler jerseys.

"And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday."

Spot on.

And do draftees and dignitaries really need police escorts??

You mean every Pats scandal that's not really a scandal, as we're finding out?

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Man, it would be soooooo nice if somebody, ANYBODY, were to step up and tell the NFL to go kick rocks.
