ejcooper31
Hello, I am a student at Colorado State University. This is my first time posting a project to receive critique. This is a rebrand for the Washington Redskins. The reason I chose Wolves is because Maryland Native Americans worshipped them and believed they were very spiritual animals. As of now I only have the logo, secondary logo, and type done. Uniforms will be next. I'd appreciate any ideas/comments.

Dan O'Mac
I feel the wolf needs work. Had I not know it was a wolf, I would've struggled to identify the animal.Even if they do rebrand, I don't see the team straying from the burgundy/gold motif I like this. steveCRO
I also think that the wolf logo needs work! Keep it simple... to many unnecessary lines, shading is not consistent... wordmark is pretty decent though
LoyolaProp1
I agree. It almost looks like a lion. Or a comet. A lion comet. The wordmark is pretty good though.
Clintau24
The lion (comet*) has a lot of shading on the nose, and no shading anywhere else. I feel like the wordmark and name would fit better for a college team rather than a pro team. I think they look good nonetheless.*Sorry, I had to. That's just too good. suplauren
Some specific areas of the wolf that look like they need work: the ear could use an outline, the eye and side of the face look sloppy and could use better linework and definition, and the teeth and lower jaw should probably be redone entirely. Is the thing on the D a tail? I think it looks a little awkward as is. As the other commenters said, the wordmark doesn't feel very NFL. You are obviously skilled with wordmarks, but this needs fine tuning. Also, the color scheme is very bland. The light blue and tan are too desaturated, and paired with the navy it makes for a dreary combo. I get the spirit vibe that you're going for, but as an NFL team this is too boring of a pallet. I would swap out at least that tan color for something very bold to help this pop. It may also be nice to work that third color into the wolf logo, so it's not just an outline on every logo.I'm really interested in seeing this progress! laurenlogos.tumblr.com

I decided to do a complete revision on the wolf. The ear still needs some work so if you have any ideas on how to improve it let me know. I haven't gotten to work on the text, but I will sometime soon. Thanks

steveCRO
OK, this is way better than the first version . There are two things you need to sort out (IMO)- there is still to many hair lines (or whatever you call it) - mouth should be in perspective, now it looks like it doesn't belong here... for example, look at front (top) teeth, both fangs are the same size... you should go and try to make farthest smaller
kewp80
Less detail and maybe thicker lines. I agree you have too much hair going on here, that would help with the detail issue. It almost looks more like a werewolf or what a bearcat would look like (not really sure if that's actually an animal). Your update was a huge step in the right direction. Keep it up and don't quit on it! Cardinals -- Rams -- Blues -- Tigers -- Liverpool Check out my music!
WSU151
The wordmark is completely disconnected from the ferociousness of the logo. The 90s Pistons/bubbly letters don't look good. The updated wolf is pretty good. But as someone mentioned, going away from burgandy and gold is a likely mistake. Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half. Â

davidmiller5
As you say, your ear does need some work. Look at the ear and eye in your reference pictures. Do you see how the ear is quite a ways above and behind the eye? On your logo the ear is below the eye and almost touching it. I think placing it up and to the left will really help. dgthree
I could be off here, but I think the face logo would look better if you removed the white stroke line that is separating the charcoal from the gray color. I think it makes the wolf look like it is wearing a helmet and/or has a separate mane -- which works for an animal like a lion, but with the wolf it is just a change in the color of its fur. mamiller99
Hmm, this wolf kinda looks like a warthog without the tusks. The snout is off. That's what- She
suplauren
Massive improvement. But you could never ever have those colors- the Redskins and Cowboys are in the same division, and your colors are way too close to the Cowboys. Even aside from them being in the same division, I think you would have a stronger concept if you went with more original colors. The ear is better, but too close to the eye. Notice the proportions in your ref images. I agree with the above posters also that you have too much detail in the fur. Take out the excessive detail and fix the ear up and it will look much more NFL. laurenlogos.tumblr.com
ejcooper31
Hey I really appreciate all your comments. Here is an updated/simplified wolf. I'm still having some problems with the ear. Right now looks a little too much like a wing, and the shading doesn't really work with the angle of the head. Any ideas/comments would be great. The lines also need to be cleaned up a bit and simplified even more.Right now I am content with the colors. I understand that the colors are similar with other teams in the NFL, but there are existing teams that have similar palettes (Patriots, Texans, Giants, Titans, Bills).
