WSU151 Posted October 25, 2014 Share Posted October 25, 2014 Back in 2010, I was sitting in a doctor's office waiting room, reading a Sports Illustrated article about how the Royals were planning for a 2013 World Series appearance; that was their goal, and they knew it would be painful to get there.I can't find the article (the new SI.com is a disaster, so I won't bother), but it's interesting to see a team stick to its vision and more or less arrive on time. Good for them. And really, good for baseball. The Royals being a game up in the World Series means any team can make it there.Similarly, but not quite as impressive: Athlon Sports' 2013 baseball preview predicted something to the effect of 2013 wouldn't be the Royals' year, but 2014 would be the year that everything pays off.
