(shows Australian's do not retreat.)Also think New Zealand and the Solomon Islands are great as well. Some of the Asian countries have some good interpretations, Brunei, Bhutan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia.Namibia is one of my favourites RICHMOND TIGERS
IceCap
Australia's coat of arms has some foreign influence as well. It's just more subtle about it.Anyway, I've always been fond of the coat of arms of the Dutch Republic... kewp80
Yeah a lot of the asian ones are really nice because they get away from what you would think of as a traditional European coat of arms.Couple of my favs:Kyrgyzstan:Thailand (Love how scary it looks):Mongolia:I've also have always liked Mexico's, and love the simplicity of ones like Slovenia, Slovakia, Switzerland, and Ukraine. Always thought the Great Seal of the U.S. was pretty interesting, especially the reverse side. Illuminati!!!!111!!! Cardinals -- Rams -- Blues -- Tigers -- Liverpool Check out my music! sparkychewbarky
I'm a big fan of the heraldry thing.I like this one for Nunavut......And I tried my hand at one myself.Back when I did the "Halifax Highlanders" thread, part of the 'plan' was to create an ownership group comprised of the Canadian-Scottish community (the Scotnadians...6-10 million people)I even did up a Scotnadian coat of arms, which I never submitted to the thread. So, for the first time, here it is now... *The Battle of Seattle
kewp80
Wow. That Nunavut one is really cool. Love the compartment on the bottom, how it's split between land and icy water. What does the writing on the bottom say?I like your Scotnadian one too, but the beaver supporter on the right (I'm guessing it's a beaver) looks too much like a big cat. I think the writing says..."Nunavut Our Strength"....And you're right, the beaver needs to look more "beaver-ish".The entire COA needs a little more detailing, and a motto. It's a work in progress. *The Battle of Seattle
kevsim1
Happy that I didn't have to google this It says,"Our land, our strenght" or something along those lines is Inuktitut. Iceland and Moldova come to mind...
IceCap
You're inferring to the state emblems, which is not the Commonwealth's fault.I was talking about having the UK flag and the trois lis as a part of the sheild. The thing is that Canada's original coat of arms was a shield made up of the emblems of the four original provinces (Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia). They kept adding emblems as more provinces were added until it just became a mess. The decision was made to simplify it down to just the emblems of the four "founding peoples," the English, Scottish, Irish, and French.
