In a world where the Cleveland Browns not only make the playoffs, but make it to the Super Bowl five times ...

Now that the Super Bowl Field Database thread has run its course until January, I will be doing alternate Super Bowl fields using the teams that lost the conference (or league) championships, or even some teams that lost in the playoffs earlier than the conference title if requested. Since these games never happened, I can take more input on what people would like to see in a teams endzone, especially for teams that hadn't made a Super Bowl during a particular era.

In the Super Bowl database thread I mentioned I would go in reverse order for these fields, but now I'm thinking it makes more sense to go chronologically. So here is Super Bowl I, the Dallas Cowboys vs Buffalo Bills.

And as I said before, endzone designs (mostly color schemes) are not set in stone here, so suggestions are welcome.

In this Dallas only makes it to the Super Bowl 6 times and the 49ers made it to the Super Bowl 9 times. The Raiders made it to like 4 straight Super Bowls in the mid-to-late 70s.

So yeah, the Super Bowl landscape would've looked mightily different if the losers won.

So here is Super Bowl I, the Dallas Cowboys vs Buffalo Bills.

I do really like the Cowboys side, it's a shame. Bob Lilly put it best; if Dallas beat Green Bay to get to Super Bowls I and II, they could've called the Super Bowl trophy the 'Tom Landry Trophy'.

Super Bowl II

In this alternate world, most likely this would be the second title for the Cowboys, as they stop the Packers hopes of a game winning touchdown drive late in the ice bowl to reach Miami, then finish off the Bills without much trouble.

You may notice I didn't use the Oilers primary logo at the time, but rather their helmet logo because I believe this is what would have been used on the field. I'm assuming this from the fact that they didn't use the Raiders primary logo in Super Bowl II.

kind of off topic, IMO it wouldn't have been called the Landry trophy even if the Cowboys had won the first 2 SBs. The NFL named the trophy for Lombardi after he died in 1970. I would assume that the NFL would have named the Super Bowl trophy after someone else who had died well before 2000 when Landry died.

Just say NO to gray facemasks.

Curious why you choose red and not powder blue. That'd look better imo

That's a good question. I think I had a different shades of blue and red and I was going to due blue as the endzone color originally, but the the colors weren't mixing well that way. Also the AFL blue was too close to the blue I was using as well creating some problems. But the powder blue endzone does look better, and it makes more sense for the Oilers logo in the endzone. I also change the white stars to blue because I think the only reason they were white in Super Bowl II in because the Raiders black endzone would have made blue stars harder to see.

Super Bowl III

I really can't say who would win this one, but the field looks nice.

I think the Raiders channel the spirit of Broadway Joe in this world and the underdog Raiders stun the football world as the Raiders topped the Brownies. The score is probably really close to the actual SB III score; maybe a few more points scored by each team (something like 21-17).

It seems I've hit the bandwidth limit again. Does anyone have any alternatives to Photobucket? This is two months in a row and its going to be another 17 days before I get the images back.

In the meantime I'll scrap together a website and host the images there. The website won't be accessible though, I just want to copy the URL so I can post here.

Hmm...have you tried a site like Tinypic or Imageshack? Maybe spread the images around on each image hosting site or something.

I think what happens is every time someone enters this thread or the Super Bowl Field Database thread every image is loaded, which takes up bandwidth quickly. Its a poor design from this site, but it would probably help if I resized the images before I upload them to Photobucket. I have the images back up now through my own site, but the image quality gets reduced unfortunately, but it will have to do for now.

Super Bowl IV

Super Bowl IV was one of my favorite fields, and I probably like the actual field better than this one, but it still looks good. If the Raiders were to have upset the Browns in SB III in this alternate universe, then I'm sure the Browns would have come back and won this game.
