Also, any hockey fan can't be mad at the idea of tanking. Even if Tim Murray and the Sabres organization came out and said it I wouldn't mind. It's the smart thing to do in the NHL. You need a superstar, and you rarely if ever get those by just trading or FA. In the NHL it seems you need that #1 or high pick to get things rolling.

Does it suck being a fan having to deal with it? Sure, but it's the smart move from where the team was in 2012.

You say that as a fan watching the team from the living room.

How would you feel about your team tanking if you were, say, a season-ticket holder paying top-dollar for tickets/parking/concessions for a team that's purposely trying to lose games?

I don't have season tickets, but I have paid to go to games this season. Paying to see a sporting event is never a guarantee. The roster may not be well-stocked, but the players aren't losing on purpose. As completely horrible as the Sabres are, you still have a 36% chance of seeing them win if you head downtown to see them. That's not nothing.

Buffalo pretty traded every starter today.

Arizona traded way more players. It's going to be a close finish. Both teams are basically AHL teams at this point.

Crazy to think this Coyotes team was only three games from the Stanley Cup finals in 2012. They're like an even less successful version of the Carolina Hurricanes.

Hedley, don't you think Buffalo season ticketholders knew what they were signing up for this year? The Sabres seemed to be very clear about what the plan was. And outcomes notwithstanding, I'd wager that the crappy Sabres have given better efforts most nights in losing efforts than the loaded-on-paper Blackhawks who have spent roughly two months flinging poo at each other. Now that's something for ticketholders to be mad about!

No, no, no, no, no, Leafs. What are you doing? Now is not the time to win three of four! You've soared all the way to sixth last - how can we get McDavid or Strome like that?

Edmonton has a pretty tough schedule... I'm really concerned about them catching up to the Sabres.

However, Chad Johnson was hurt during the morning skate yesterday. He might be out the rest of the season. Buffalo's two goalies for last night were Anders Lindback and a guy who was running 3.04 and .899 in the AHL. Fingers crossed.

The Oilers lost 7-4 to Carolina after being up 3-0 halfway through the 2nd. Take that, Buffalo and Arizona.

:censored: They don't have a ton of easy games on their schedule... they (we) needed that one.

Looking at their schedule, hoo boy. They can win like 3 of their remaining games. A couple of games against Columbus, then a game against Toronto. Things are looking up.

Nazem Kadri didn't even show for team meetings... & now he's benched for the next game.

I'll take guys sleeping on the couch > giveaway comebacks.

Ottawa really thanks the Sabres for not letting the Bruins take the win. I don't mind if you get McDavid now.

Also, with Boston getting a point in that game, the Maple Leafs have been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.

If this season has taught us anything, it's that Arturs Irbe is a pretty good goalie coach. I demand his letter of resignation first thing in the morning.

Seens to me Anders Lindback has been playing on his head since becoming a Sabre. How long 'til he's sent to the AHL?

He's benched next game mark my words. :)
Nah. GM wants to lose, but the coach doesn't want to lose.

I can hope, though. ;)
