UNC seems a bit too high, even at 23. While they have talent, it has the potential to crash and burn like how two years ago, everyone said how NC State was going to "take the next step." Bowl performances shouldn't weigh that much into pre-season rankings, just because UCLA killed an offensively-challenged Tech team in the Sun Bowl doesn't translate to being the 7th best team in the country. I think Louisville might surprise people and win 8-10 games this season depending on Will Gardner's performance (Unlike WVU, they have something called a defense ) . Yes, they lose Teddy Bridgewater, Calvin Pryor, and Marcus Smith; but they return WR DeVante Parker, TE Gerald Christian, OLB Lorenzo Mauldin, and CB Charles Gaines. I believe Petrino will do wonders for Parker and put up stats worthy of the Blinkoff Award. Also, I believe that Todd Grantham will do better than experts believe and the D could be in the Top 25 in the end of the season.Looking at the schedule, here are my predictions.Miami (FL)- Win: I believe this will be close and go either way, but I see that Petrino will carve Miami's defense for the win. 45-34 Cards Murray State- Win: Blowout win, nuff said 63-0 @ Virginia- Win: Virginia will give them a scare in the 1st quarter, but Louisville just has too much firepower and overwhelms UVA. 42-14 Cards @ FIU- Win: Easy win (beat them 72-0 last year) 56-7 Cards Wake Forest- Win: Another scare in 1st quarter, but dominates late. 35-7 Cards @ Syracuse- Win: A close game to the end, but Louisville's defense comes up big to seal the win. 34-31 Cards @ Clemson- Loss: The first meeting between the two teams and unfortunately for the Cards, the crowd at "Death Valley" gets to them and loses. 35-14 Tigers NC State- Win: A scare from the Wolfpack and Louisville survives with a late TD. 24-19 Cards Florida State- Loss: In the biggest home game since 2006, Louisville fights FSU to the death and leads late with 2 minutes left. Then Jameis Winston unleashes his "Crab Leg Fu" skills and leads the Seminoles in an epic drive to clinch victory from the jaws of defeat. 35-31 'Noles @ Boston College- Loss: Louisville takes their anger out on BC and dominates them easily. 38-3 Cards @ Notre Dame- Win: Just like vs Clemson, this is the first time they met the Irish. It was just my predictions.I was trying to figure out how you had them losing three games but going 10-2 and then realized you messed up on this game.Like the optimism but losing their starting quarterback, head coach, and moving to a better conference is gonna hurt. I would say expecting them to lose to FSU and Clemson is a given, I'd also expect them to lose to the Irish. I expect them to have atleast one slip-up game as well. I expect them to have at least one slip-up game as well.My prediction was 10-2 (which is a bit optimistic in my part), but generally 8-10 wins was guaranteed for the most part. For what you said, I definitely agree on these points especially with a new QB and conference. I do have faith in Petrino however in turning Will Gardner into a force in the passing game like other qb's he coached (Brian Brohm, Ryan Mallett, Tyler Wilson) and he could pull off an unexpected win against Clemson, FSU, and ND (not guaranteed though).
