FiddySicks
There's nothing respectable left about Shane Doan. Back in 1996, yeah sure. But now? Nope. The guy has lost nearly every shred of dignity and class. Much like the rest of the organization. Cosmic
This is a travesty and I think the Sabres should have to forfeit their first-round draft pick for it. You can have the middle one; they already blew the lowest one in the Evander Kane trade.

Sodboy13
Because he uses his elbows more than his stick, then goes out of his way to portray himself as holier-than-thou. We call him "Captain Christcheck" around here. The_Admiral
All that plus how complicit he is in the deification of Shane Doan as the model captain. I've never been able to reconcile his bad behavior with "how much he cares about winning" with how he left money on the table with a then-pretty-good team in Buffalo to play for a Phoenix team on the wrong side of the bubble, and not only that but threw a bitchfit for the ages when the team looked like it was relocating to Winnipeg or Quebec City, threatening to retire rather than play in Canada. Doan is, of course, about as Western Canadian as the day is long. Canada: you can play for it, but don't pay for it. He's a scumbag on the ice and a comfortable rich bastard off it. If all you care about is sitting on your horse farm in Arizona with FU money and none of those pesky "hockey fans" to care about how well you do at your job, the very least you can do is stop being so goddamn injurious when you play. He sucks. To be fair, on that "play for it but don't pay for it" thing, I've gotten extremely jaded with pretty much all patriotic Canadian hockey players who care so much about winning glorified all-star games with their superteam but scurry off to Texas and Florida at their soonest convenience rather than try to achieve true greatness with Toronto or Montreal (or the rest). Also, that national healthcare that they love and we envy could certainly use a little more of their tax money. I guess you don't have to love it that much when you're the 1%, but other than a vowel shift and some extra layers of clothes, caring about the sick and the old is one of the only meaningful signifiers of Being Canadian there is. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Bayne
The picaso coyote logo was just too busy, full stop. The jersey design with the striping just took it to another level. Maybe they could have toned it down a bit somehow, but I'm just not a fan. I'm Danny fkn Heatley, I play for myself. That's what fkn all stars do. Still, I can't find anything online about him throwing a fit when the team looked like it was moving... What exactly did he do? I'm intriguedAlso unless it was the 2006/07 Sabres he had the option of playing with, I don't blame him for staying in Phoenix. The team hasn't been a legitimate contender since being gutted that off season.
Lee.
"This team can't relocate to Winnipeg, I have a no movement clause in my contract." Just one example of captain Canada 2.0 in action. Welcome to DrunjFlix
Sport
There is also no bigger cry-baby in the league towards officials. According to Shane Doan, Shane Doan has never committed a penalty.

monkeypower
I think they know what will happen to them and they want to avoid it. I know I would not like to be playing for Toronto, Montreal maybe.Being that good at your job means you have the luxury of choosing to work at any office (team) that is part of your company (NHL). Why would somebody choose an underperforming office where there are upwards of 17,000 overbearing bosses every workday and, since I can't think of an office metaphor for the media, third party supervisors (maybe?) who scrutinize your every move? I can only recall Belfour, Hull and Verbeek as notable signings. The rest I recall was either drafted or unwanted castoffs acquired through trade. The Giant Pacific Octopus
I remember when Vincent Damphousse went to San Jose. He talked about how much he loved the environment over playing in Montreal. Not just the fact it wasn't dark and cold in January, but the fact that he wasn't harassed by the media. He even gushed how he could go food shopping and not be bothered by fans. The Catch of the Day!
