The two different white shirts are unintentional. I couldn't decide which I liked more. Since I wanted to show the three pant options for the team I simply switched the colors around. The blackout jersey was intended to mimic basketball jerseys from the 1970's which had team names on the bottom hem of the shirt. I think a team like Western Michigan has a good logo that if used properly could help create a much better look for the team. The wordmark on the jerseys is Texas Troupe and the template is by Mr. Nascar.

The sleeves look a little busy to me, and I think the addition of black and silver is a huge part of WMU's problem. So few teams use brown and metallic gold (the only other brown and gold schools I can think of are Wyoming and Valpo, and they both use athletic gold), so they'd have a much stronger brand if they just stuck to those. Besides, those are the official school colors... embrace them.

I added the silver and black because it was included in the original uniforms. As far as the sleeves, they would most likely be slimmer but I needed to make the details stand out. I was going for the sleeve stripes in the first picture of the concept basis.

I agree about the sleeves. I'd lose the black as you are trying to go back to the old set, but threw in another black jersey and helmet that they don't need. The big thing about the current Western Michigan look is the horse head minus the different background colors. You've got a \good start point, The stripes aren't balanced and that will help a bunch.
