Awesome set for NC. Probably one of the best in college sports now. Navy for the alt would've been better, but even the black looks decent.

Really like what they did here. Big upgrade from the last set as even the black set I can overlook for not being navy blue. A little surprised they didn't use the Mach Speed template as that seemed to be what all the Nike teams were using for their upgrades/rebrands.

Doesn't Nike have a rewards system for which gear they will provide a school with?

Oregon, Ohio State, Florida State, and Alabama had the latest template last year because they've been highly visible playing in and winning major bowls while wearing Nike. Stanford and TCU both unveiled jerseys with the latest cut because they have recently won major bowls wearing the Swoosh.

Is it possible the latest jersey template wasn't offered to UNC because they haven't had that same high-level success?

This is how it was explained to me by our equipment manager when I asked him about getting team specific gloves from Nike.

I believe that is true for most schools but Army does not have the greatest program and still received the newest template however them and Navy were taken care of pretty well by Nike with the Pro Combat SOD .

What about Michigan State? Aren't they still on the Destroyer template? You would be hard pressed to find a school with bigger bowl wins the last 5 years? They are 53-14 in the last 5 seasons, 4-1 in Bowl Season, with wins over TCU, Georgia, Standford, and Baylor, with their lone loss being a blow out against Alabama.

Michigan State is on the Speed Machine template. They wore a Pro Combat in 2011. They've even had an atrocious all chrome helmet.

I think Michigan State is going to upgrade this coming year like Stanford and TCU have. They are planning to unveil new jerseys at their Spring game this Saturday.

Any word on what these will be? Same basic design, green on green and white on white? What are the odds we see the incorporation of gray/copper/anthracite similar to the basketball uniforms?

As for the NC uniforms... I like them. Obviously, a huge upgrade. I have a real issue with the black, though. Duke is the blue and black team. Now, NC is the light blue and black team? Not only that, their other rivals (NC State, Wake Forest) already have black in their pallet. It would have been much better to maintain the light blue and navy blue team... one of the best color combos in all of sports.
