2015 MLB Season Thread with Postseason Discussion

The Giants won their division in 10 and 12. Not exactly the backdoor. In general I'd reserve my disdain for the powerhouse regular season teams that collapse in the postseason.

Oh, you mean like the Dodgers?

The Cubs will disappoint.

Depends on your expectations.
Well fate (or Back to the Future 2) has them as contenders this year!
I don't see any Gators in MLB or time machines run on garbage, hoverboards, Pepsi Perfect... and the USA Today logo is a circle. :)

Plus, the World Series is still best of 7 games, not 9.

And there's no way it ends by Oct. 22.

So the Jays got new turf this year.

New:

It apparently feels (and looks) more like actual grass, though I suppose thin green-coloured strands of plastic are still thin green-coloured strands of plastic.

I'm excited to see how my Tigers will do. We got a nice bat with Cespedes and we got a nice young arm but we lose Scherzer (I wasn't too upset when I heard he signed with the Nats) and Porcello but the Tigers still have a Top 3 pitching rotation with Verlander, Price and Sanchez. But we didn't do much to help our biggest problem from last year.....OUR BULLPEN! I hope Nathan, Chamberlain, and Soria can get there s*** together but only time will tell.

I think somebody just scrambled down some stuff and put it up at the top.

But the odds at the World Series:

Nationals:6/1

Dodgers:8/1

Red Sox:12/1

Cubs:12/1

Angels:12/1

Cardinals:12/1

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Experts

Why?

Not that I have any idea what to expect of the Angels this year.

They had the best record in all of baseball last year. They still have the best player in all of baseball. It's not some gargantuan leap in logic to think they have a shot at winning the World Series. More so than the other 12/1 Cubs.

I thought the Skydome was moving to grass. Or is that next year? Or never?

Anyways, I kind of like that one last stadium is still hanging on to the island bases of my youth with white lines marking the outline of the infield for infield fly purposes.

Exactly.

Also, while I think the Cubs will be much better this season, I don't see what made them a sudden trendy pick for the World Series. My guess is they're still at least a year (probably two) from serious contention.

The plan is to get grass by Opening Day 2018. Because the Dome was designed to be a multipurpose facility with turf and turf only, they have some key hurdles to overcome regarding irrigation, drainage, lighting, humidifying, etc.

I'm sorry, but Kershaw pitches up the I-5 at Chavez Ravine. :)

2018. As for dirt, the Argos have one more season to go... then they Jays can have the building to themselves all summer long.

Yep... it's why Argo games haven't all been outdoors... apparently the 500 level would turn into a giant waterfall if they kept it open during rain.

Question: Are home plate collisions still completely outlawed? When I read the rule, I thought it said something along the lines of if the catcher has the ball and is in your way, you can blow him up. As long as he has the ball, and you don't go out of your way to initiate contact you can do that. Can anybody clarify?
