NFL Changes 2015

when I saw it the graphics weren't lined up with the painted outline so it looked like a they painted both wordmarks with a drop shadow, which has always been the Dolphins thing so I thought nothing of it, but then I saw the Jets and was mystified. Then I saw the Jets a couple minutes later and it was lined up and I thought maybe I'd had too many mimosas with brunch.

Now that I know what they were actually doing - WHY?

is it required to have TV numbers or shoulder numbers on a primary NFL jersey

Yes.

Teams can get away without them on throwbacks, but home and road jerseys have to have them.

If they're REQUIRED on the primaries, then doesn't that imply that the league feels that they're kinda important? It doesn't make sense that they wouldn't require them for throwbacks. I'm curious if TV, radio, or PA announcers ever complain when a team wears throwbacks.

They're either important or they're not. They should be required on all or on none - not on some.

I remember back in '94 during the 75th anniversary games Denny Green raised a huge stink over having to play the Bears in these uniforms...

His point being that the Vikings based their protection on specific player's positions, and that they were taught to recognize the players by their jersey number.

I guess the Bears weren't who Denny Green thought they were...

What a :censored: ing mess.

There are inconsistencies and idiosyncrasies which are charming, throwbacks to days gone by. And then there are relics of a profoundly stupid era, which out to be changed immediately.

Hey Jerruh, it's 2025 and we all have high-def TVs. You can make the silvers natch now.

And pick a blue.

Unfortunately, some CBS exec is now pondering whether they can put and rotate ads on the field now.

They have been doing this in F1 for the past year or so. So it's not unprecedented and the technology is already out there.

I feel like one of the networks -- CBS for SEC games? -- has already superimposed ads on the field. I have vague memories of the New York Life logo along the line of scrimmage for certain plays.

I remember seeing that a lot actually. How annoying. I dont even like the superimposed down and distance arrow. Its on the scoreboard constantly and the announcers constantly say it, its very unnecessary

I'm all for nostalgia but when you start talking about TV's, that's one topic where nostalgia shouldn't even apply. High definition is way better and honestly makes me question how I put up with standard definition. I only prefer old TV's when it comes to old video games.

Not only that, those old TV's are heavy as hell and take up a ton of room. That's the thing I like most about flatscreens.

I believe they DID do that a year or two ago but people were pissed and they stopped. I don't think it even lasted the whole season. Maybe 2-3 weeks and they stopped.

They do it here in Australia in the NRL. The only logo that is painted on now is the NRL logo. All the adds are superimposed graphics done by the broadcaster. Is only on a select few cameras too so sometimes you see em, then you don't. I assume it's the same technology used for the first down yellow line marker in the NFL

Just saw that NFL Shop has released the Nike "Gold Collection" which is exactly what you'd expect. I was scrolling through and saw these ladies shirts, I hope they make them for men. I love the simplicity of sleeve or pant stripes across the chest of a shirt. So simple, yet effective

That is a really weird use of the Seahawks icon (sideways). I don't know if I've ever seen it used like that. Looks too Pac Man.

Yeah, I agree, especially when used in two lines. They've had this shirt out for a while and it looks more "normal" when it's one line.

What is this jersey? Based on the photos, it looks like an authentic Nike product and not some crummy bootleg.

The first year nike was producing jerseys (and maybe after too), they snuck some lower price point jerseys out there. I remember seeing a similar Russell Wilson jersey at one of their Factory Stores. I want to say it was $60 or $70. They were just white jerseys with the name and number screened on and the team logo on the sleeve. Other than the chest logo, they lack all of the other details the $100 game jersey have.

yeah that style 1 sucks. Almost as bad as the open-top 4.
