FiddySicks
There were a couple of names they were considering (Dragons, Express, Stallions, Sea Dogs, Wizards, ect). So, it could've definitely been better (Dragons, Stallions), but it could've also been much MUCH worse (Express, Sea Dawgs). And yeah, they didn't change from R/W/B because of the KKK connection, they changed to blue, black, and bronze because Pollin also owned the Capitals. walkerws
The D League Unis are generic because t's a template. Alot of them wear alternates so that might be where you see a star and stripe look.

He wasn't pressured to do anything, he just didn't like his team being associated with gun violence. That's not entirely true (nor do I believe that's the SOLE reason) about the name change. It had more to do with marketability and the team's desire to cash in with a rebrand while moving into the new arena. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/dcsportsbog/2010/02/why_abe_pollin_went_from_bulle.html

Without the stars down the side, there is no connection to the team's classic look. The fact that the Brooklyn Nets wore the true classic uniforms when they played an exhibition game at the Nassau Coliseum prior to the 2012-13 season made me hope that they really were going to bring those unis back for this D-League team, which will ultimately be playing in that same building. What a disappointment. Also, their decision to use in the logo a wordmark that is neither the classic one nor the current one is downright baffling. The only thing that is good about these D-League uniforms is that they say "Nets" at home. Perhaps the big club will follow suit. I would've liked to have seen the stars on the sides, too. However, I think all the D-League teams' uniforms have Adidas stripes going down the sides of the jerseys, thus unfortunately preventing that. jp1409
I was at the Palace tonight for the Hawks vs the Pistons and I really don't like the fact that the Pistons put that much emphasis on black and white for every bit of marketing (videos, posters, programs, souvenir cups and popcorn buckets, employees clothing, etc). I know the probable new logo is part of the new marketing wordmark which is always black and white. Should I be worried? By the way, the Hawks looked like absolute clowns live. They don't look good on tv either but everyone around me made a few comments about how terrible they looked from close range.

joshey
So does it seem to everyone else as well that the Pistons dropping r/w/b for black, white, crimson (or something like that)? I do like the new pistons ball logo better than their current one fwiw but I wouldn't like that color scheme for them, its just not them and it would clash with the Bulls who are in the same division. Or maybe thats a dark navy instead of black (my phone doesn't have the best screen). GO NETS.
TheRicSlick
I don't think they're switching color schemes. I think it's just for promotion. It would be stupid of them to drop r/w/b, it would be the teal fiasco all over again.

I rather not see this conversation take a turn where we ultimately end up losing a valued community member. Who's ever honestly complained about the Wizards' name for that reason? That gives way too much credit to the KKK to think they own the term wizard or dragon. Maybe preceded by grand, but otherwise that's a huge stretch...I don't think anyone really stoops to acknowledge the KKK in this circumstance!
