Amazing resource Colorwerx. The effort you must have put in is pretty staggering.

You should probably have an FAQ section as i'm sure you get asked the same questions all the time, but what would you consider the most wacky, unusual set of colours that you've come across? Is there anything ridiculous like say, eggplant, vegas gold, orange and sky blue or something like that?

A lot of crazy ones...one college that fascinates me quite a bit is Concordia U. of Irvine, CA.

Institutional Colors are this:

...and while the athletic teams currently use this:

ConcordiaU-CA_ATH01_9999_SCC_SRGB.png

...they used to use this:

Always got a kick at the sheer number of colors from this minor league hockey team as well:

Sorry, can you repost these? I wanna see haha.

Howz that?

I think one trigger was a guy who wanted all of it in a CSV file (!), and when I said no, he said he’d just mine the site for it then.

Gotta admit, though, I like this guy's style. I love hitting ctrl-U and grabbing fonts, streaming audio, and stuff.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

From what I've gathered on Twitter (don't hold me to this, though), the team names, information, etc will remain, but I don't think the colors will remain.

Kind of odd to me considering the name of the site IS colorwerx.net, butafter seeing his reasoning for doing so, I really don't blame him.

As someone who very much enjoyed all CWx did, I would be sad to see it all go. But on the other hand I agree with him. Some folks in the millennials group want everything for free, handed to them on a silver platter. They want free phone apps instead of paying 99 cents for a perfectly useable (if imperfect) app. It's so silly. You want an app? Go earn some money. But in the case of the web, it's really hard to control the trolls and the irresponsible people. People need to be good internet citizens and not abuse what's out there.

Because freeloading and cheapskates are just a millennial thing.

Coming out of Lurk Mode again...

1. Yes, I can be a drama queen at times; I'll admit it. However, that's not what this is about.

2. No one ruined it for everyone in this case.

3. My decision is based on what I want to do with the data in the future; I now have plans for what needs to happen with it, and having it all out there in plain sight wasn't doing me any favors.

I'll elaborate more in the future.

Is the future here yet?

The future still isn't here yet and at this point I highly doubt we will ever get a full explanation of what actually happened.

It's his site and research and he can do whatever he wants with it, but I think I speak for a lot of people when I say it's very frustrating to have something you've been using for years just taken away without having any real idea as to why.

The only thing I know for sure is that money was a big reason why it was shut down. Quite possibly the only reason. All I can say to that is I saw a lot of people using his site's research for a lot of different reasons including myself. But I didn't come across one instance where the site was being used in research that was then being turned into a profit.

That assertion could be wrong, but just from what I've seen I don't follow the logic for why the site was shut down. If people are using it and making money off it when your providing it for free, that's one thing. But this was a great public good that a lot of people used to their benefit including myself that has since been taken away for reasons that I don't fully understand or would probably agree with even if I did.

Up until the point his site was shut down I had nothing but kind words to say about ColorWerx. Unfortunately that is no longer the case. I'm happy the site was around for as long as it was and I hope he brings it back one day as it was, but if nothing I think not providing a explanation for why the site was shut down shows a major lack of respect for the people that were interested in the site and helped give it the type of traffic that it did.

It pains me to say these things, because from a sports logo research perspective, short of Chris Creamer himself this was the most productive member of this board hands down. No matter what happens he's entitled to a great deal of respect and admiration here that neither I nor anyone else can take away.

That's a pretty selfish way of looking at it...

It is his site, he can decide what to do with it. He doesn't owe anybody any sort of explanation. Even though he mentions in a post two above yours, he will explain at a later date...

Goes to show that anytime something good comes around, there will always be some unintelligent jerkoff to ruin it for everyone... I understand wholeheartedly why he pulled his research but its still a damn shame.
